Brother Bear ran on an impressive winner to confirm the form against Sioux Nation. The latter broke very slowly and didn’t seem to handle the ground at all, but I think the winner is without a doubt the better colt. 12/1 is still floating around for the Coventry which seems generous, but I’m happy with Declarationofpeace at 8/1 at this moment in time.
I backed Brother Bear today. The commentators, including Mick Fitzgerald were all over Sioux Nation because, “He’s like a three year old taking on two year olds”.
I felt the rain would hamper the big colt and he never really got involved. Likewise, I had concerns on the Charlie Appleby trained Aqabah, with the chance that he would be another Godolphin not to go forward from a debut win.
Brother Bear did it well and that is twice he has now beaten the bigger Sioux Nation. Poor old Micky Fitz, size isn’t everything you know.
Thanks for the good crack. Time for me to move on. Be lucky.
May 27, 2017 at 16:15 #1302345I also backed brother bear today (aftertiming I know) looks like a class act, could be a strong contender for the coventry.
Had a smaller bet on clemmie, she ran a race full of promise, no doubt darren83 will be on one of the forums to tip her up for the guineas at some point.
My original plan was to lump on alpha centuari for the albany, but if they throw clemmie at that race I will have my doubts.
Aiden O Brien used to be completely dominant in two year old races in Ireland but it seems like harrington is putting up stiff opposition
May 27, 2017 at 16:18 #1302346Sorry just saw the earlier posts about clemmie for the chesham
maybe i’ll do her in a double with alpha or even a treble with the bear

can anyone tell me why churchill and clemmie run in the chesham, is it something to do with being by a sire who won over a certain distance, I thought that was the case if memory serves me correctly??

It’s restricted to horses whose sires won at a distance in excess of 9.5 furlongs.
May 27, 2017 at 17:03 #1302353Aiden had a very good winner in murillo a couple of days ago. Finished really well and looks very speedy as he should be being out of scat daddy. Likely to run at royal Ascot.
I’ve caught up with him on replay, and as you say looks very speedy. Out of a mare by prodigious brood mare sire Rahy. He isn’t priced up as of yet for the Coventry, Norfolk nor the Windsor Castle, but of those I expect he will go for the latter.
May 27, 2017 at 17:36 #1302357There is Guineas betting in already.
You can have 20/1 Brother Bear and the same odds for Clemmie if you fancy them.
I am underwhelmed by Rostropovich at 25/1 for the 2000 Guineas after his uninspiring start to his career.
Thanks for the good crack. Time for me to move on. Be lucky.

20-1 for brother bear doesn’t appeal at all, he won’t get home in the proverbial horse box.
Clemmie however is very interesting
May 28, 2017 at 09:53 #1302403Skybet have Clemmie at 25’s for the 1000
I’m happy to throw a few quid at thatGaelic Warrior Gold Cup Winner 2026
May 28, 2017 at 20:48 #1302491Stan James are 33’s on Clemmie according to oddschecker.
I say according as it’s not like them to be bigger than anyone else
I’m sure they will go blue as soon as a pound goes onGaelic Warrior Gold Cup Winner 2026
May 28, 2017 at 20:55 #1302492If you try and put a decent bet on Nath they will recalibrate the bet to 0.00001 pence
May 28, 2017 at 20:57 #1302493I don’t know about a decent bet but my 91p each way didn’t get knocked back

May 29, 2017 at 22:48 #1302633Definitely not going to be one to follow for the season, but certainly could be a crop to follow, as Camelot has his first runner tomorrow in a competitive looking Leicester maiden. Fighting Irish is his name and he cost a measly 70k at the sales, in stark contrast to the majority of Camelot’s lots. The fav, Gosden’s Westerland, could be a two year old to follow however. Another Frankel for Gosden, this one out of a Zafonic mare, should be interesting having finished second on his debut earlier this month.

May 30, 2017 at 17:13 #1302685Westerland was a very game battler to get up and win by a whisker. He’s been introduced to the Coventry betting at 25/1, but I won’t be rushing to get on myself. Gosden is obviously eyeing up a crack at the race or else he wouldn’t have been so desperate to get another run into him so soon and break his maiden.
Fighting Irish made me eat my words a bit, finishing a good 4th eased down after being very lit up through the race with no cover at all. Hasn’t exactly got Camelot’s career off to a glittering start but he certainly seems capable of breeding speed into them.

Happy Like A Fool may just be a big problem for Main Desire.
The Wesley Ward trained filly sluiced in over 4 and a half furlongs at Keeneland. We have seen his fillies come over here and take some stopping over 5F and she could be a tough nut to crack.
By Distorted Humour, you can see her being backed if she stands out in the paddock at Royal Ascot.
I think this filly is pretty much under the radar but I tracked her win down and am sharing it here:-

7/2 may turn out to beat SP on the day.
Ward is on the hat-trick in the Queen Mary.
Thanks for the good crack. Time for me to move on. Be lucky.

I’d been on both of the Wesley Ward winners the last two years and would have gone for another this year but main desire I thought looked an astonishing prospect.
May 31, 2017 at 11:13 #1302766Happy Like A Fool hasn’t moved in the betting for the Queen Mary for ages. I backed her yesterday and they have cut her in to 3/1. The power of the Caution quid strikes again.

Thanks for the good crack. Time for me to move on. Be lucky.
