Vitamin, one of jac’s favourite horses, entered in the firth of clyde stakes on friday.
Ill primo sole is entered to run on Weds at Sandown. Will be interested to see how that goes as so impressive on debut.
Also the same Gosden yard have first eleven entered in the maiden- very interesting as by frankel and related to Kingman.
Thanks for the heads up on the talented Vitamin judge
I’m on holiday at the moment and best time to use internet is early hours..I have taken the 14/1 (each way) that Paddy Power is offering with the hope that she can gain some black type at Ayr. The race is actually on Saturday so will be home to see her run, she also holds an entry in the Dubai Duty Free Full Of Surprises Conditions Stakes on Friday but hope she takes her chances in the Firth Of Clyde..she needs to win this to prove herself a Classic potential for 2018 so all fingers well and truly crossed here.
Good luck if you back her, I haven’t the internet capacity to study the race up in detail here in Spain but will get a more detailed look at the field on Thursday when I am home.. Jac
Things turn out best for those who make the best of how things turn out...September 20, 2017 at 08:43 #1318333Ok Jac.
I also like the look of Gobi Desert today at Fairyhouse as that maiden he won at the curragh is surely extremely hot.
September 20, 2017 at 11:15 #1318341Il Primo Sole looked something special on debut and I’m going to back him for the Guineas at 33s before his run today.
September 20, 2017 at 14:24 #1318346Il Primo Sole looked something special on debut and I’m going to back him for the Guineas at 33s before his run today.
I was torn with Il Primo Sole. On the one hand he was as easy winner as I have ever seen, coming home hard held on his debut, on the other hand the maiden he won has looked modest since then.
Last Voyage could give Il Primo Sole a race today. The Godolphin colt was very green last time at Windsor and was value for more than the winning margin. 5F looked on the sharp side that day and the extra distance might help. However, I don’t like then going straight from 5F to 7F and he has been off for 4 months. In addition, he has to give 2 lbs to the Gosden runner. Enough reasons there to make Last Voyage a lay and if forced I would pick Wafy for the forecast with the favourite, as Ragstone Road won a modest affair last time.
Wafy is by Dubawi out of Guineas winner Ghanaati and should be capable of a good bit better yet.
Interesting to see how Il Primo Sole goes and good luck with the Guineas bet Gun

Thanks for the good crack. Time for me to move on. Be lucky.
September 20, 2017 at 14:54 #1318347Never back two year olds with penalties.
Wafy simply didn’t handle the ground last time out.
September 20, 2017 at 14:55 #1318348The annoying thing is I backed Wafy last time and then left him alone this time- the money came for him anyway and it spoke volumes.
September 20, 2017 at 15:10 #1318349As I suspected, 7F was too far for Last Voyage. It’s a pet hate of mine seeing 5F horses going to 7F next time. It’s hard to go like a 5F for the extra 2F, particularly given an aggressive ride.
In the end my forecast selection proved too good for them all.
In the paddock I thought Wafy and The Last Voyage, in that order, outshone the favourite, they look to have good scope for next year, especially the Charlie Hills colt who looks likely to make a good 3yo.
Thanks for the good crack. Time for me to move on. Be lucky.
September 20, 2017 at 15:22 #1318350Yes good call with Wafy Steve. I loved Ghaanti hopefully he can follow in her footsteps.

I think there’s also an element when a two year old wins it’s debut as easily as Il Primo Sole did that sometimes it can be too good to be true- either the opposition was rubbish or it “bounces” on it’s next start.
Gobi Desert form boosted by the win of three and four pence earlier.
September 20, 2017 at 15:50 #1318351Well Gobi Desert, managed to put the hex on that, but the price was gone anyway because of the withdrawal of Fleet Review.
Still think this one could be promising; seemed he couldn’t quicken in the soft conditions. Can anyone remember seeing a horse with his type of markings on his face? I can’t.
September 21, 2017 at 11:51 #1318415A couple of very interesting races for unraced horses at Saint Cloud today.
Both races are over a mile and it looks like the card has changed from last year, when both races were run at Maisons-Laffitte but two weeks apart, rather than on the same day.

Plenty big name trainers represented and some promising looking sorts. The races were won by Gold Luck and Trais Fluors last year.
The Racing Post gives the going as heavy, which is a pity because you wonder whether the winners may have won because of the surface, rather than actual ability, with some unable to act on the going.
No proper betting through yet for these races but it’s surely suicide backing unraced horses on heavy ground with no form to go on.
You could go by trainers of course and Fabre, Rouget and Head are all represented today. Freddy Head has a couple of nice fillies already this season and Polydream got a boost when Laurens won the May Hill. Freddy saddles With You in the first race and she is a daughter of Dansili. I have had some success with Le Havre horses from the Rouget yard and he sends out the filly Octeville in the opener. Pascal Bary has echoes from the past with the name Divine Inspiration, a filly by Medaglio D’Oro, and she has the great Divine Proportions as her granny. Fabre sends two out in this fillies race, Waldlied, by New Approach, plus Lucie Manette, by Shamardal. There are three other Le Havre fillies in the race as well.
The second race on the card sees the same faces represented. Freddy Head has another Dansili youngster, this time the colt Near Gold represents the sire. Fabre has two runners, Iskandar, by Champs Elysees and Matfog by Style Vendome, a horse who won the French Guineas when Olympic Glory was fav but unplaced and Intello was third. I have seen Matfog tipped but the sire sits on a modest 5000 Euro fee, so I am assuming he’s not been great thus far. Rouget has Thawry, by Iffraaj and Viridorix, by Dawn Approach. I am assuming the former is more fancied with Soumillon up. Pascal Bary has a Deep Impact colt called Study Of Man and we have seen some promising sorts already from this sire.
I hope we see something to get excited about from these races, as there has not been much to shout about so far in France this season.
Probably managed to miss the winners but it’s just a case of watching at this stage for the future.
The races are at 3.05 and 3.35 today UK time.
Thanks for the good crack. Time for me to move on. Be lucky.
September 21, 2017 at 15:25 #1318434Freddy Head’s good run of fillies continues as With You destroys her field at Saint Cloud today. Always going well she brushed off the challenge of Fabre’s Lucie Manette, who looked likely to be second but was caught by Rouget’s Octeville, who finished well to snatch the runner up spot but they were all chasing rainbows in reality. In the end With You drew right away to win by what looked to be about 6 lengths.
The 1-2-3 were all mentioned in my short preview and once again the cream of trainers comes to the top.
Freddy Head is in the habit of having first time winners who don’t go on as expected next time though. The filly he said was his best for a long time won readily first time this season and then got turned over next time. Mind you, she was left with a lot to do that day. George Strawbridge looks to have a filly to dream with in With You. Replay to follow when available.
Thanks for the good crack. Time for me to move on. Be lucky.
September 21, 2017 at 15:56 #1318437Study Of Man was another good winner for sire Deep Impact, coming home by a couple of lengths from Freddy Head’s Near Gold, the pair miles clear of the third. I missed the race but saw the still of the winner and the rest of the field as they hit the line. Replay to come when available.
Thanks for the good crack. Time for me to move on. Be lucky.

Miesque is his granny, so he has talent in his genes.

September 22, 2017 at 09:44 #1318489Emaraaty is running at Newbury tomorrow after an eye catching debut 3 weeks ago at Sandown
I can recall Barry Hills saying many years ago that the owner liked his horses to have a nice time on debut and that was certainly the case for Emaraaty.Gaelic Warrior Gold Cup Winner 2026

His previous maiden hasn’t worked out that great mind you.
I decided to back Bon Scotte today. I am assuming he is named after the AC/DC singer Bon Scott, who died tragically young. Bon Scotte didn’t win by far last time but I think he could improve a fair but from that. Hugo Palmer is in good form but White Mocha isn’t that far ahead of Hannon’s runner and seems a bit skinny for me at 2/1.
Frankie is on the other Hannon runner while Ryan Moore has been booked for Bon Scotte. I thought the Kodiac horse may be the value, with Macaque winning a match at 1/16 Fav, while running second next time, in a race where the 1-2 were miles clear of the third. The 3rd and 4th in that race were both last next time they ran and I prefer the unexposed Bon Scotte.
3.30 Newbury Bon Scotte 7/2
Thanks for the good crack. Time for me to move on. Be lucky.
September 22, 2017 at 15:38 #1318515Well, typically, after Hannon has two winners, Bon Scotte never showed at all. He didn’t seem to come forward at all from his last start so that was £5 up the chute.
White Mocha was well backed but scrambled home in a hairy photo finish which must have given his backers heart failure.
Thanks for the good crack. Time for me to move on. Be lucky.
September 22, 2017 at 15:41 #1318517Impressed by the runner up. Derby entry as well. If anyone sees him priced for Derby let me know.
