What’s the thinking of the odds compliers in the Cornation Cup?
Why such a difference in price between

    GILE NA GREINE

and Jacueline Quest? While it would be great to see Henry Cecil’s filly gain compensation for losing the race in the stewards room, the odds on offer make the Irish filly a far better betting prospect.

I’ll be trying to get some running up money on

    ALBURJ

my nap of the day and my third best bet of the meeting.

For now I’ve had £5 EW double on the two and 3 x £1 ew doubles and a £2 ew treble with

    BULLET TRAIN

who should be better suited to Ascot than Epsom

    £20 Staked (so far)

Well done with Rite Of Passage CS! Fantastic win. :)

I’ve found one or two 20/1 winners a year can keep you going even if you’re having a bad season!

    ….and how!!!

Thanks, I just hope one or two other members were on, I see Gerald tipped him too. What do you think of Weld’s runner in The Queen’s Vase?

To be honest I haven’t really looked at the race CS, doesn’t really appeal to me. I’d say Johnston’s will be hard to beat. Mikhael Ghlinka appears as a horse who has a bigger reputation that what he’s achieved. The Weld horse seems to be crying out for a trip! Good run behind Nebula Storm considering that was only 7f. He’s got the right man on his back anyway! :P

The 7f run was decent for a stayer I must agree but it’s Grace O’Malley / Unity form line that I like. I gave Unity no chance of getting that close to Grace.

Great run by GILE NA GREINE I thought she was gong to hold on a furlong out.

Nice place money running up on ALBURJ so £12.50 EW is enough added money

Now that TROAS has drifted to 20-1 I had to have a little saver £4.75 ew
20s is ludicrous I’d make him around an 8-1 chance on his form with Carraiglawn

One stands out tomorrow, RINGAROSES EW in the last,

Current Flat Season Profit £464.44 after today, could have so much better if GILE NA GREINE had held on

I love the Queen Alexandra Stakes, a race where NH horses have a decent record and I make JP’s good hurdler

    RINGAROSES

a rock solid ew chance to hoist the flag again for the jumpers, I made him my second best bet of the meeting a week ago, (my NAP won @ 20-1 on Thursday), so lets hope the hurdlers do it again.

    £17.50 EW @ 16-1

Nothing I can see suggsts that

    HARBINGER

can be beaten in The Hardwick Stakes.

    £35 Win

Only other fancies are POPPY SEED 6.20 Ling, I’M A DREAMER 3.20 New, MASTER MACHO 7.05 Hay and SPAS DANCER 8.35 Hay although the last three named are no better than an EW Thief’s selections.

    EDIT

When I went to bet Poppy Seed was 1-4 so I put Harbinger in the bet below instead

    50p EW Yankee, 50pew Acc

3 winners 2 seconds, 1 unplaced unfortunately RINGAROSES was the loser which left a profit of a mere 43 p on the day!

Can’t say I though much of the ride given to Ringaroses, ran on from another parish to finish sixth.

On the other hand, great ride by Haley Turner, first time I’ve ever backed her.

    Season Profit £464.87

Struggling to find a nap today so I’ll go for one I expect to do well over hurdles later in the season,

    PROSPECT WELLS

    3.50 Pontefract.
Having his first run for Howard Johnson, whatever he does today I’d expect him to improve for the run.
On his French form, if he’s fully fit, he should be too good for these but the £3.34 ew stakes says it all about my confidence :?

Two non runners including the danger (IMO) means my confidence in PROSPECT WELLS has increased, add £12.50 ew @ 100/30

Nice prospect for the NH season!
After the rule 4 and the best odds, days winnings are £89.10
Flat Season Profit now £553.97 which is OK considering I didn’t start till the beginning of this month.

Yes, long may it continue! I hope I might have helped a few members if they had faith in me. It’s a long time since I did a flat season, a lot of the trainers and jockeys names are new to me. I’ve been concentrating on NH trainers and old reliables such as Dermot Weld. I had a really good NH season despite a horrific festival, which severed dented my confidence for a few weeks but the Hunters in April and May really turned if back in my favour.

My flat stakes have been very low in comparison as it started out as a bit of fun while I was checking the runners for the competition, which I didn’t expect to go nearly as well as it has for me.

If this flat form does keep up I might start increasing the stakes a bit.

It would be a big surprise is Mark Johnston failed to get improvement from the 4-Y-Old

    EMERGING ARTIST

after his promising debut run at Haydock 12 days ago. The booking of Fallon suggests he’ll be ready to win. (Not one of my favourite jockeys, however) Safe EW surely although there are two withdrawls already, the big question is should one wait till nearer the race to ensure a 1-2-3 ew and take a risk on the price (current 11-4 looks generous)or go in now?
I’ll post stake and decision when I’ve worked out the answer :D
