I backed Elarqam today Joni just because I always do and was as surprised as you when he dotted up but over the moon at the same time. I don’t know how he reversed with Addeybb he seems to have found his form at last.
I was at Newmarket today and Rise Hall was a standout in the paddock I had to back him in favour of Herculean who I originally picked but looked in need of the race, seeing the two together in the paddock you wouldn’t think Frankel had sired them both, Herculean is all over the flashy chestnut..but he ran a terrific race against his half brother and he will definitely win next time out, he really needed this race

Jacksonian is a Frankel 2yo who ran a superb race today in the first, he’ll be winning next time for our boy who did very well at HQ today.
Bad luck with Crystal Ocean Joni he ran the race of his life but Enable is a freak in the nicest possible way, a breaker of hearts and what a race she ran today…I felt sad thinking of Sea Of Class that she will never get the chance to run with Enable again such a cruel blow and now James Doyle has had to settle for runner up once more as Enable notches up yet another prestigious victory..Jac
Things turn out best for those who make the best of how things turn out...July 28, 2019 at 12:54 #1449601Sounds like you had a great day Jac! It was funny – I found myself cheering Enable even though I’d backed CO!! What a superstar she is. Great info about the Frankel’s. I hope Elarqam runs in the Juddmonte. If he gets conditions similar to yesterday he should be competitive.
I’ve put on a couple of early bets for next week in case I can’t get on.
£50ew Setting Sail – 9-2 — Goodwood
£150 win Pinatubo – 15-8 – Goodwood
£50 win Hey Gaman – 7-2 – Good-wood
£30 win treble the above"this perfect mix of poetry and destruction, this glory of rhythm, power and majesty: the undisputed champion of the world!!!"
July 29, 2019 at 11:35 #1449687Addeybb had nowhere to go for most of the last 3F i thought Joni, he’d have given Elarqam a lot to think about had he gotten out quicker.
July 30, 2019 at 14:50 #1449872Joni, I am quite disappointed with you, that you only had 150 on Pinatubo
I had 200 at 9/4, but just Euros
July 30, 2019 at 21:32 #1449954I wish I’d had more HB!
Kev – not so sure but you might be right. He did look a little laboured to me. Not the same horse as at Ascot anyway.
1 bet for tomorrow and a speculative double.
£100ew Light and Dark – 4-1 – Goodwood 5.55
£30 win double Light and Dark and Constantinople"this perfect mix of poetry and destruction, this glory of rhythm, power and majesty: the undisputed champion of the world!!!"
July 31, 2019 at 00:18 #1449977Nice one Joni and Hein

I only had £20 on Pinatubo Hein at 6/4 but he won and it was a walk in the park, terrific race and well done both of you

My each way on Platinum Star was a silly bet as only 7 runners but I did have hopes that he might come in 2nd, anyway I still came out £20 up on the race.

Onward to tomorrow where I’m having an unusual bet on an Aiden O’Brien Horse Circus Maximus to beat Too Darn Hot and in the 2.25 Dubai Tradition trading around 11/1 looked a nice horse (paddock pick) at Newmarket last time out.
JacLight and Dark has more weight to carry tomorrow and La Maquina could get closer, will do a reverse forecast just in case but hoping L and D wins.
Things turn out best for those who make the best of how things turn out...July 31, 2019 at 09:45 #1450005Thank you Jac, 20 Pounds (I don’t have the sign on my keyboard) are at least better than nothing
At Goodwood I wait for the next one I can fully trust, but to be honest I can’t make out one yet
So tonight I stick to a little “after work racing” at Cologne.
Keep going you two, and Joni work on reducing your minus
August 1, 2019 at 09:18 #1450155My nap of the week runs today. I think Constantinople will be a Group 1 horse and will win easily today.
£200 win Constantinople – 9-4 – Goodwood 3.00
£100 win Mehdayih – 11-4 – Goodwood 3.35
£50 win double"this perfect mix of poetry and destruction, this glory of rhythm, power and majesty: the undisputed champion of the world!!!"
August 1, 2019 at 17:12 #1450220I keep waiting for the 2nd’s to become 1st’s and to start winning some of these tight finishes. It’s not happening. Time for a little break :(

August 20, 2019 at 12:35 #1451437I hope all is well Joni. It certainly pays to have a break sometimes, this game can test the mental strength of even the toughest at times.
Hope to see you back soon.

September 7, 2019 at 20:28 #1453115A miracle has happened, the master has returned!
I hope you utilized your absence to gather some new power, Joni
And please think your strategy over to play each and every Frankel progeny big, because it wouldn’t be for his sake, or Sir Henry’s, and at last not to your own to piss away your profits from the last two years!
This was quite honest and undiplomatic from me, and I hope you don’t get me wrong
I wish you well to reduce your minus, as the break even is quite far away.September 7, 2019 at 23:26 #1453141Welcome back Joni
Not the best of days but hey some great racing ahead and the match between Armory, Siskin and Pinatubo looms next week
Hope you can get to Newmarket before the end of the season Joni back on The Rowley Mile from 21st September..can’t wait and it’s Henry Cecil Open weekend with Enable on display cantering up Warren Hill on Sunday 22nd..last time we will see her in UK before The Arc.
JacThings turn out best for those who make the best of how things turn out...September 8, 2019 at 09:43 #1453159Hi guys – yes not exactly back with a bang!! Sun Maiden should have been placed as should Spanish City but the other two finished last! Never mind.
HB – no offence taken at all. I do try and be selective with my Frankel bets and his progeny generally deliver a very good return but it hasn’t worked out this year.
Jac – I’ll do my best to get to one of the later meetings. I’ll keep you posted! And yes lots of good days ahead.
We’ve had 7 great years on this thread (with 1 exception) and I guess it was inevitable that we would eventually have a bad one. Business has been tough for me this year and perhaps that has clouded my judgement occasionally! But I still enjoy posting and, as I’ve said in the past, it helps me keep some sort of discipline as I never want to post stupid selections or bet on just anything (as I used to when younger!) Anyway – we’ll keep going for now and hopefully there’ll be a couple of good days before the end of the season.
Just one bet for today which HB will hate but Delaware was super impressive last time and I think he could run a nice race at ew odds.
£50ew Delaware – 5-1 – Longchamp 2.50

September 8, 2019 at 12:53 #1453178Don’t worry Joni, I appreciate it that you intend to stay selective
I know that you had quite a few near misses this season, and I can say the same about myself
I wish you a good and fortunate finale, and that you can turn the tide
September 12, 2019 at 10:32 #1453726Thanks HB.
