Concerned for Promise To Be True, not entered in any of the Oaks trials, maybe had setback.

Sunspangled, last thing i saw was she was heading to the Irish Guineas and the the Oaks. Minding did it last year but this year is only a 5 day gap between races. Which is a bit of bad race planning if you ask me considering the last two Oaks winners ran in it.

Nothing to stop her going there without a run i suppose.

    PTBT not entered unfortunately Sunspangled

Aljezeera finally makes it to the racecourse on Saturday at Newbury against Gosden’s Gracious Diana, hopefully, a good performance will see her make the Oaks line up.

Do you not think it might be a bit too close to Epsom to run her? Im not saying dont send her but might be a bit tight trying to prep her to run in the big race.

That is/was my concern the longer we went without seeing her – realistically being a Cumani horse (known for having late maturing backward types) unless she wins easily and doesn’t have a hard race I would imagine it is now an outside bet of her turning up in the Oaks with the Ribblesdale/Irish Oaks probably being a better option.

Interesting to see whether she has had a setback, or maybe she’s going to the Irish 1000G followed by the Prix Diane, she has good form in France.

This is an interesting race. I heard good reports on Natavia before she made her debut and she was backed from 10/1 into 4/1 Fav that day. She ran a promising race to be second.

Gracious Diana tore her field apart last time. Described as a Ribblesdale filly by John Gosden, she seemed to take a good leap forward from her first effort last season.

Aljezeera looked a promising middle distance filly on debut last year. She has scope, but this has a look of last chance saloon for the Oaks here. Have they taken her here because she is ready to run, or is it because it’s the only option to get a run before the Oaks?

Form wise, winners have come from Natavia and Gracious Diana’s races. The filly who beat Natavia last time, stank the place out when last of 6 next time but the ground was much softer than when she had won against Natavia.

Ground has to be a worry for today. Who will be most likely to be suited?

Gracious Diana has the distance in the book, Natavia is stepping up from a mile and this will be a very different sort of test for her. Natavia is a market positive this morning, with Gracious Diana a market negative.

Despite the drift, I am taking Gracious Diana today. If she’s going to the Ribblesdale, John Gosden must feel she will get a mile and a half. Aljezeera could be anything but faces a tough start to the season conceding fitness on this going.

Thanks for the good crack. Time for me to move on. Be lucky.

I’d Gracious Diana wins today, hopefully she goes to the oaks.

Otherwise that’s both of my antepost plays out – Shutter Speed at 8s and Gracious Diana 20s.

Just my luck if Gracious Diana bypasses it too

Shutter Speed is 2/1 for the Prix Diane with Sky Bet, the other two firms are 6/4.

Thanks for the good crack. Time for me to move on. Be lucky.

Well Natavia hosed up today. Al Jezeera was one paced, she didn’t look ready to me today and more time will help her.

Gracious Diana was woeful, she simply went out like a light. She’s not the first Gosden filly to disappoint on the soft this week. There will be no Oaks for her, or Al Jezeera.

I was concerned about Natavia at the trip today but she got it well and she had shaped with great promise on her only previous start.

Flood Warning, who was runner up today is a small filly of a certain level, her position casts some doubt about how good a bunch these were today.

No impact on the Oaks I would think, it looks a weak renewal to me.

Thanks for the good crack. Time for me to move on. Be lucky.

Well Prince Khaled certainly is spoilt for choice when it comes to smart middle-distance fillies this year. I am starting to like Nathaniel as a sire as well especially when they run on soft ground. Aljezeera ran a lovely race – got outpaced turning in but stuck on well. She is a very big, unfurnished filly who as Steve says will definitely come into her own as the season progresses.

I am often wrong but Natavia today prompted me to do a very rare ante-post bet, ok it was soften ground but the way she
sauntered out of the stalls effortlesy put her opposition away was to me eyecatching to say the least.
    16/1 sounded good.

As I feared today Aljezeera was badly in need of the race/experience – didn’t think Dettori did nearly enough to educate her, he barely bent his elbows then one token back hander and then barely did hands and heels to the finish. Didn’t expect him to use the whip more but a nice strong hands and heels ride would have been more educational.

Think she is a work in progress and maybe a Ribblesdale filly but more likely an Irish Oaks later in the season would be a good target.

Mori and Icespire at the head of the betting for Thursday’s Height of Fashion Stakes – it’ll be interesting to see who’ll come out on top but whether or not the race will have any bearing on The Oaks is dubious.

Slight preference is for Icespire but if she were to come out on top I’d say it’s unlikely she’ll follow in Skiffle’s footsteps and run at Epsom in 9 days time.

According to reports Coronet joins Enable in the Oaks. I don’t think she’ll be quite fast enough but it’s a largely uninspiring field for me.

Rhododendron is the only one I could back. She’ll surely shorten if Winter does the business in the Irish 1000.

Thanks for the good crack. Time for me to move on. Be lucky.

I’m fully with Steve here on Rhododendron, I took 9/4 immediately after the Guineas and the only rival that scares me is Enable but I’m pretty confident of Classic Compensation.

This is a real top-class filly and she deserves a big one.

    Good luck all.

thought his tip for her was lukewarm at best, he seemed more enthused about cracksman

think I might do a enable/cracksman gosden double, not convinced about rhododendron over this trip at all.

Hi Judge, I did have a concern about Rhododendron at the trip but she really is facing a pretty poor bunch here and I feel pure class will take her through.

A couple of bits of 13/8 left on Rhododendron but she’s generally 6/4, of course Stan James are 11/8 and shortest in the entire Universe ;-)

The second favourite Enable is only a Listed winner and I don’t think she beat much last time. It’s a race spoiled by Shutter Speed going off to France and I hope Rhododendron wins for the sake of quality.

Thanks for the good crack. Time for me to move on. Be lucky.

Hello Steve mate I just think the form isn’t too bad with Enable and the fact they are sending the brilliant Shutter Speed elsewhere when they could gamble on her stamina is a tip in itself :good:

Rhododendron has far and away the best form but just the nagging doubt of the trip. I agree her class will pull her through.
