I haven’t half made a complete balls up, having been caught up
in someting earlier I couldn’t avoid, I rushed these and I have
Gisburn and Zip running in the same race although I’ve somehow
got Zip down as going at Wincanton. No idea how to sort this out,
probably both get thrown out. Obviously I’d have kept my nap in,
but I doubt I can throw out Gisburn. I bet you dread my post coming

If I somehow fluke getting past Isinglass with my other 2 and reserve,
I wouldn’t deserve it.November 11, 2023 at 14:14 #1670096In reply to: Total lunacy at Down Royal
Kelso and Aintree already affected by “dangerous” sunlight; no doubt the other cards to follow.
Am I the only one who is getting really annoyed by this rubbish? It’s health and safety gone mad, I tells ya!

Dettori made little impression on the public during Celebrity Big Brother. Possibly he is now in a more buoyant frame of mind, and I suspect ITV will edit him favourably as mentioned further up the the thread. I doubt it will do his public profile any harm.
I’ve found his neverending retirement tour somewhat tiresome, but Dettori is now at a stage of life where he can pick and choose what he wants to do. So if he wants to go off and spend a couple of weeks munching on kangaroo testicles good luck to him.

I’m taking a punt on Wolves v Spurs
Spurs had 2 main defenders sent off on Monday aswell as their best CB injured. Maddison also injured who is their main creative player. They are not in Europe and went out of the Micky Mouse Cup at the first hurdle so players coming in will be lacking match fitness. Wolves beat City at home and are slightly underrated, they have played well and had a few big decisions go against them21/10 Wolves £7.00

Hi everyone I’ve just got back from a big funeral.
An old rugby and workmate passed unexpectedly and where the family are left behind it is not a happy thing. Just 63 and a force of nature dedicated to his family and devoted to his doting grandchildren. Had gone part time and was full of life. Like me he was sports mad his tune today was a great number by ELO
he set his morning alarm to it and like me he loved his sport. He played every game under the sun and took his lads to every conceivable after school activity.
I was honoured to meet them today and was pleasantly surprised to be told he had mentioned me “once or twice”. More importantly I was able to tell them what a good brick their old man was and that he spoke of nothing else except his kids wife and family.
So for this mate his song I’ll put up in the tree thread but it was Mr blue sky and hopefully I’ll be doing the Dundalk 8:30 in his honour.
Although racing today like yesterday is quite irrelevant.
I’m off shortly to source some washed up beach wood stuck on rocks and way above the high tide line so I know it will still be there, then I’m going in the North Sea like I did yesterday and bracing as it was it was hugely invigorating and I actually crawled back in again after coming out and surprisingly 10.5 degrees isn’t too bad at all. Shorts are fine, why people insist on wet suits is beyond me. A dry robe for afters yes but to not feel the waters nullifies any effect at all. Then it’s up to my allotment once I’ve dragged home this king sized bit of wood which has to sawn down into moveable chunks then it will be part of a no dig bed or the plinth for an artists 👩🎨 sculpture. It’s bonfire night for the pruned fruit tree wood as no one wood have it got their own woodburners and the chap who I thought was going to wood chip it for my paths for free announced he’d be charging me 128 sterling or 280 for the day. So no artichokes or runner beans for him!!!

I’m another vote for Brave Seasca. Not going too mad, and I’ll do the reverse forecast with War Lord, who looks well treated.

Two years ago, Threeunderthrufive won the 3M novice chase at Exeter on the Haldon Gold Cup card, with the formbook comment “made all, jumped well”. He was also 3/3 over hurdles on right handed tracks the previous season, including a 3M Listed race at Perth.
Since then he’s run ten consecutive chases on left handed tracks. And although he won the first three in small fields and novice company, in handicaps, he’s had comments like “jumped right on occasions”, “blundered and UR 1st”, “didn’t jump with fluency”.
In the Badger Beer, he finally gets to run a handicap going right-handed in a race that will also provide a sufficient stamina test. And he also gets Cobden replacing Heskin, and a stable companion that will ensure a strong pace. I’ll cheer with everybody else if Frodon can win this again, but I’ll be richer if Threeunderthrufive proves too good getting 11lbs from the old boy.
November 9, 2023 at 22:44 #1669876Hopefully the electorate will do the clearout for us. Getting rid of the right wingers and keeping most of the moderates. Although most of the electorate may not know who the moderates are. Tory membership has always been their downfall, still thatcherite.
I don’t particularly blame the Tories for the economic situation other than Truss made it worse. Johnson made mistakes with Covid, but it was an unprecedented epidemic and did make some good decisions. Am grateful we didn’t have Corbyn in place, both over covid and in particular over Ukraine / Russia. Corbynomics would’ve been worse than Trussenomics too. For me, Johnson’s big problem were sleaze and Cummins.
I am still not against Brexit but two of the reasons I voted Remain were having it when the economic situation wasn’t good anyway. Always going to be a difficult transition. And couldn’t see how Northern Ireland would be included. To be fair, Rishi did a bloody good job in solving the latter, only for the Unionists to put the kybosh on that. Covid and then Ukraine on top of Brexit was bound to bring about an economic downturn. Just as Labour wasn’t at fault for the banks disaster. (although they could have saved more money for a rainy day when things were booming). When Conservatives (or rather the coalition) came to power there was a note from the Labour man at the treasury saying “no money left”… And the world economy has never got back to what it was before the banking crash.
Labour seem to be saying they’re going to spend exactly the same as Rishi. Yet they’re apparently going to grow the economy like it’s never grown before. Does not add up unless they’re just relying on a worldwide economic upturn… Which tbh will probably happen… but what if it goes on longer than expected?… If Ukraine and Gaza are settled or going to be settled then the economic situation will in all probability get a lot better than it will be at election time. Therefore Labour will go on to win several general elections. However, Labour has already promised to bring about a Britain with better economic figures than the whole of Europe. We’ve got Ukraine and Gaza now, if they don’t get any better and things get worse worldwide… Iran? Korea? China / Taiwan? Labour’s promises may yet come back to haunt them. If so one term is very possible for Labour.

I was very fortunate to win the Godolphin comp!
That swap on the last day, bringing in Quarryman for the retired Cody’s Wish, really paid off and made all the difference. Sorry Nathan, pipping you on the post like that. It couldn’t have been closer at the finish.Huge thanks to Jac
for keeping this comp going and for keeping us all interested in what seemed like a difficult year for Godolphin. Their running of this comp is mediocre at best – they could do a lot more with it.Oh gosh – I don’t need a prize Jac – it’s all about the friendly competition between the friends on this thread.
Raymo – I hope Tracy’s mum is doing alright. Sending lots of good thoughts and best wishes across the Atlantic.

Priced up with only two firms from what I see.
Kitty’s light would be the obvious starting point for me. Christian Williams has ran him over hurdles once already this season and is entered in the 2m 5f class 2 hurdle at kempton in a couple of weeks which seems to be the tune up race before being sent for the big one.
I’ll be there for it and looking through the market there’s half a dozen or more savers I could have on other dour stayers.
Royal pagaille seems a tailor made type and then you’ve got 2 or 3 others who you know are going to give you a run for your money.
Le Milo’s, the galloping bear and major Dundee will all be carrying varying stakes of my hard earned.
3 and half miles, heavy ground, big galloping track under harsh weather shaking off boxing days festivities. It’s the highlight of Xmas for me!

Cork All StarParticipantManchester racecourse, better known as Castle Irwell, closed 60 years ago today.
I wonder if any older posters remember the track? Did any posters ever go there?
Castle Irwell was a substantial course in its day. It staged the first ever evening meeting in England and even played host to the St Leger in 1941, when Doncaster was out of use in the war.
By 1960, the old grandstand was rotting and had to be replaced. Unfortunately the expense crippled the company’s finances. When a property company made an offer for the site, the shareholders voted to sell. The final winner at Castle Irwell was ridden by Lester Piggott before the crowds departed for the last time.
The property scheme fell through and the site stood idle before being bought by Salford University in 1973. The grandstand became part of a leisure and entertainment venue until 2010. Six years later it was destroyed in an arson attack.
Some of the site has now been turned into an urban wetland centre. The only part of the racecourse that is still extant is the turnstile building, purchased recently by Fred Done. He started his career at the track and wanted at least part of it to survive.

Well after Sir Chauvelin last night, I have to keep going.
Two good days on the All Weather for me, which is something I don’t often say, but back to the old routine, and after those bets, going with a few on a decent days Racing.
Midnightreflection is a “Midnight” that has made these threads before, snd although maybe place chance only, I’ll risk her
Fifty Ball is a horse who’s never really caught my eye, but looks too big to me, while old pal Janidil looks ok at 11-2. Peak Allaho would lap him, but 18 months is a fair old layoff, though I suspect Mullins might know more about the horse’s wellbeing than me. He’ll depend on earlier bets I reckon
Most interesting horse today is The Big Galloper. Was one of my big hopes for last season, but after getting a few entries, he obviously had a setback and didn’t run. He’ll surely need this, but hoping he can be a Pertemps horse. Potential definitely there, but he’ll surely need this
I’ll decide on Janidil later, but after a few good days, happy to have three at least on a busy Thursday, although certainly not going mad.
Market against The Big Galloper just now, so holding off. Took Janidil instead
Fifty Ball non runner

Clonmel Oils – Janidil 11-2

GT, the trouble is getting the motivation…. do I really want to get caught up in a discussion where I know that I’ll probably end up winding members up and they in turn will wazz me off…. then I have to get my handbag ready.
There’s no safe ground, so it’ll be “all or nothing”. whilst I enjoyed the banter last time, I’m guessing the fuse is getting shorter with age….
Over the years that I’ve been absent, I have done very well on the horses, not fortunes, but a steady influx of cash to supplement the pension…. also had my bum kicked a few times too. I had a cracking run of losers about 6 months ago that really made my eyes water, a LLR of 18, then two short priced winners @ 3.25 and 2.75, then along came a spider and I had to Ben Dover and take what I was dreading…. another LLR, but this time it was 34…. that did a fair amount of damage to my haemorrhoids. I spent the last 6 months revisiting staking plans and studying Positive EV and all the rest of the crap….. Lordy me, there’s some really squeaky bum staking plans out there.
So lets see if there’s anybody out there that is using any of these hair raising plans successfully… they’ve actually raised my hair quite a bit, I’m as bald as a badgers bum….

MrE
You can’t judge your day by how you pick your horses.
On Monday
I enjoyed a brilliant stroll armed with wheelbarrow through a remote location. A long walk but such an enjoyable and serene walk through isolated woods. At the end of the trail was a huge unexhaustible store of old well rotted manure. Which will satisfy my needs for a very long time to come.A major disappointment towards the end of the evening but overall a grand day. As a friend with a vehicle which could get us to that huge pile of poo I’d not prepared to risk his 4 x 4 off road ( which is what I thought they were for) I’m not sure if that was the major disappointment or failing to land a single winner on what is only Tuesday. Back to Molly’s and although only a fleeting visit plenty covered and a fresh bed completed with recycled parts and many layers of a lasagne made in true no dig fashion. I’ve built a huge no dig bed for flowers and it is most likely the biggest one I have made the gentleman next doors front garden has grown out of control so I’ve mowed the lawn and used the grass cuttings for the no dig bed. I’ve planted tulips and split and spread the agapanthus plants so that they cover three quarters of the entire l shape of the bed I’ve put in wallflowers. Seal of Solomon roots have gone too. Many times I’ve come back to living bed and dug away the soil for my allotment because the soil is so good and the split agapanthus plants is spread all over the area. Food bank visited and friends seen and plans laid. November is in full swing and it’s all rocking. visit and regular source of manure secured. Returned to scene of chest infection and carried a face mask just in case not used but acted as an effective placebo. Misssd one appointment due to memory lapse.
Putting right that miscreant version by Dillinger.

My selection is Magical Lagoon- 125-1 to win and 90-1 without Vauban with b365, and a bit ew 5pl with Paddys at 100-1.
This is what one Aussie tipster had to say about her (my thoughts in brackets)
LAGOON – TAB Odds: $151 Form: 5x0x06x906 – She has failed to do much (over trips up to half a mile too short) since coming to Australia on the back of some victories in Ireland and England (these wins being the Ribblesdale and the Irish Oaks- whilst not vintage editions, they were still better than anything that passes for a middle distance group race in Oz) . Was in the finish of the Geelong Cup recently (having made all the running till she was nearly put over the rail and did well to finish so close considering), but at Flemington she will be one of those horses you just hope stays out of the way of whatever your money is on (OK Darren).
She has never raced over this far but is by Galileo and there’s some stamina on the dams’ side too. The ground should be quick (if forecast rain holds off till later), which should suit. She has a nice draw to get a good position but enough cover to avoid overdoing it in the first mile which would be her downfall.
I like to a couple so I’ll go with another Galileo, Okita Soushi, who should like ground and trip too. He’s got a rotten draw but tends to be dropped in anyway so it mightn’t be too much of a problem.

Thanks Graham..
You made me smile as I can imagine you surrounded by the scores and frantically trying to watch the race..I bet there were a few Scottish swearwords coming out that I’ve never heard of.
Nay matter you can enjoy the Melbourne Cup tomorrow night without having to pick up a pen, just a few wee goldies and a late night rendezvous with Moe ( I won’t tell Marjorie.. 😀)
Looking back I had a superb night and didn’t realise how much ground I had made up..poor old Rummy but that’s how these comps turn around as we all know.
Beautiful picture of Inspiral and Frankie Graham I think I might try and order that from the Racing Post to go with the one I won a terrific memory of a fantastic night’s racing.

Get studying for Saturdays Daylight Graham and lets give our opponents something to think about …I wish you all the luck in the world..Jac
