You have not made yourself clear although I suspect you are insulting me rather than supporting me; either way, generally it is unwise to post after midnight.
As I stated, it is vile to attempt to make a pathetic joke in relation to the suffering and death of a racehorse; no sympathy was expressed for the dead horse, only for the connections.
I am a keen supporter of flat racing and hate to see a horse injured or killed, which far too many continue to be on the flat; the bha needs to address this more effectively.
It is clear, from experiences at racecourses, that only a minority of people are concerned about injuries and deaths of horses; such people presumably take the easy way through life and think only of themselves.May 6, 2026 at 15:19 #1766135In reply to: Meydan Thursdays
Benveuto Cellini looked a bit special. Del Maro seemed happy enough to
be last for nearly all the race. Made a bit of ground but only finished 4th.
That was a strange run from Del Maro, almost like he just wanted to get a run
into the horse. I would have thought the Stewards might have raised an eye

Gunners would do well to treat tonight as a dry run for the final. We saw last night how below par PL football is and tonight is a final Chance for them to sharpen up their act. They should benefit from a faster pitch than prevailed in Madrid. Would be surprised if they don’t score 3

Thanks Everyone.
I was very fortunate with my Wellington, which really won me the comp. – otherwise I doubt I would have made the podium. Still, I’m very happy to have won the competition ahead of some excellent very knowledgeable players. Not sure what is going on with Godolphin – I have 300 points, with the leaders already at over 1,700 pts!! I must have missed the email about the extra swaps over the weekend. Oh well – it’s a long season.
I’m sorry you missed going to Newmarket on Sunday Jac. Hopefully you’ll be able to figure out what is causing Dave’s dizzy spells, etc. and get him on the mend!
Take Care Everyone!

Still trying to get my head around how Mark Allen missed that black.
Best final I’ve seen in years. Wu Yize has a bright future ahead of him. Shaun Murphy made a couple of strange shot choices that cost him the match IMO.

Thank you everyone. I’m made up to have fared so well, but I had no chance in catching a very deserving winner. Well done Mark
Thank you VtC, and I’ll put some of my prize back in

I’m feet up in front of the tele today Nick as my friend Maggie pulled out of our trip last night with a bad cold and then this morning Dave came over dizzy and I couldn’t leave him alone at home. He seems ok but we need to check out a few things next week.
At least I can watch all the action on TV all my Newmarket picks are on the Guimeas compy thread..
Ive landed on Venetian Sun for my Guineas pick today. Four wins in a row she can be forgiven an end of season loss against Precise in the Moyglare on unsuitable ground (rain please keep away).
I think Burke’s other string Evolutionist is not without out a chance in this but I really like A.Fabre’ runner My Highness
by Ghaiyyath. We always say at HQ that Fabre never brings one over without feeling he can take the prize home. His horses akways go off at generous odds as people choose to look more to the Irish runners.
A couple with outside chances at big prices…
Rose Ghaiyyath 33/1 🌹 to give Billy Loughnane a Guineas double and ..
Azleet – 80/1 who won the Nell Gwyn in great style she seems to have been overlooked. I would love to see stallion Tasleet sire his first Guineas winner 🏆 🐎Call me mad but I’m going to indulge myself today and have a few bets on each of these my best being Venetian Sun.
Come on the Villa

Well done prize winners, it’s been a close contest with many in the mix in the closing weeks.
Thanks to VTC for the sterling effort in organising this competition which must tie up a fair amount of his time.
Pleased with my own effort as, given the restrictions I put on myself, staying off the bottom of the table is a success! I believe my selections made a level stake profit over the season, which will do me nicely. I shall be tapping up my knowledge base to dig some more dark horses for next season, hopefully a few more like Chasingouttheblues who has been a revelation and may still have scope to improve into next season over extreme trips.

Smashing winner RTB, but I can assure you that wasn’t my sentiment at the time. I’m sort of over it now
Hello Neighbour 38
Delighted to announce MarkTT as our 25/26 winner. Been a cracking competition again this year, with it tight all the way, top spot changing hands many times, but in the end, Mark sprinted clear. A very deserving winner, and just for good measure, wins the bonus race prize as well. Great to see a TTF stalwart win it, and Mark has been here from the start, and was the first one to to get singled out for a “great pick” when he dug out Many Clouds all those years ago
Great effort from Waroftheroses in second. More of a slow burner, and wasn’t really on my radar for prizes, but scythed through the pack late on. Cracking effort. Message sent mate
In third is my good pal Lemons, who’s done well picking up third, considering he’s a wee bit out the loop, being out the country half the year. Strictly speaking I should pocket the £50, as I talked him into taking Jango, and that made the difference lol. Joking aside, well done Mark, and speak to you whenever
Big shout out to Goodfellow, who’s absolutely superb at this comp, and was there all the way, only running out of steam the last week.
Some great lists this year. Rob and TYT with their usual dark ones, Homer and Jac with their themed teams. My favourite pick this year was actually mine lol. Panic Attack did me proud, that day at Newbury was magic, and I was delighted to get points from a Sandy Thomson horse, Dedicated Hero, after years of picking less profitable ones from the yard
Really liked Star of Guiting, and Chasingouttheblues for Rob, while I thought King Rasko Grey and Kitzbuhel, were tidy swaps for Ken and Jac
Thanks as ever to you all for taking part, and as I say every year, huge thanks for those who donated their hard earned for the comp. It makes a huge difference

I thought Kevin Blake has been a welcome addition to the team this weekend, it’s better when people know what they are actually talking about although I think Weaver is quite good as well.
I must admit though I’m a bit puzzled by Kevin’s stance on interference rules, he concentrated entirely on the British rules and how lacking they are but are the Irish rules significantly different?
And I wonder what he made of all the interference in the Kentucky Derby? It added to the excitement of the race for me and I’m not sure if any jockeys were suspended there.May 3, 2026 at 00:21 #1765790In reply to: Kentucky Derby 2026
“I also like Golden Tempo as a longshot”.
Great tipping, MW. I only wish I had taken your advice!
The winner has come from so far back, I can only assume the pace up front has collapsed in the last furlong.
It is a good news story for racing due to the first woman to train a Kentucky Derby winner.
The Phipps Stable colours, which to my eye looked like a black jacket with a red cap, made me think of all the Jim Joel horses on this side of the Atlantic from days gone by.

Thanks guys, been some season for the 100-1 shots, and delighted to collect from another. He was main bet of the day, and the fact my only other bet was Midnight Tango EW at 80’s, meant it was one to remember
Last Day of my season, and been a great season.
The Saturday always dominated by the three big handicaps, which are always crazy competitive.
This year though, the two chases in particular are outstanding renewals, and the 1505 in particular is easily in the top five handicaps there’s been this season. Twenty Two Runners, and I can only rule one out. In the end, had to go with three.
Shanbally Kid won it last year, seven pounds higher here, but the seven pounds wouldn’t have stopped him last year. Not concerned with his PU at Fairyhouse. Fishery Lane is one I haven’t given up on at all, and old Duffle Coat is a huge price if Fairyhouse was just to blow cobwebs away. A big if
Went for 2025 Winner in the next too, with Bill Baxter, and also going with fellow Brit, Dartmoor Pirate. This is another fabulous renewal
Going with Escaria Ten in the opener, and I’ll round off my season with Kopek De Mee in that mad hurdle

I’d like to see the old Nicholls. To me he just seems to have mellowed too much and maybe the edge he once had has gone.
When he’s asked about Cheltenham these days, he often says that its not the be all and end all, he has re-prioritized etc. I totally get that that is the case but i’d just like to hear him fight his case more, bang the drum over his achievements. Owners want to chances at the festival.
I honestly refuse to believe that he isn’t still as capable as any trainer out there.
I also think that he is brilliant at bringing hoses along slowly. Clan des Obeaux, cyrname, Pic d’orhy, Silviniaco Conti – horses that weren’t winning the supremes or arkles but were made into G1 winning chasers. Maybe people want the more instant success that the Skeltons/Mullins teams seem to be able to deliver.

Great start today with Techno Davis EW at 18’s, and the next two were much smaller. Unfortunately the bet on Franciscan Rock was a greedy one again, and made it a losing day.
Techno Davis a big eyecatcher
Friday a lot quieter day, but main bet of the day will be an EW on Fr Gilligansvoyage in the opener. I bet him now and then, never wins, rarely places, but ajwaus gives a good spin at big odds

April 29, 2026 at 22:57 #1765320In reply to: University degrees
I studied Finance and Accountancy for 5 years. The examinations were hard; there were 5 parts with 4 subjects per part. Fail one subject out of 4 and you had to take the whole lot again. The pass rate was around 33% per part, so if you made it to the end you were doing well. The upside was once you passed employers were lining up.
I now read a University if offering a two days a week course in Finance and Accountancy. The only way they can do this is to dumb things down. It appears that university degrees are going from bad to worthless. The pity is that for these potential students by the time they graduate AI will have taken over mundane jobs. Companies will only employ those with experience.
