“I also like Golden Tempo as a longshot”.

Great tipping, MW. I only wish I had taken your advice!

The winner has come from so far back, I can only assume the pace up front has collapsed in the last furlong.

It is a good news story for racing due to the first woman to train a Kentucky Derby winner.

The Phipps Stable colours, which to my eye looked like a black jacket with a red cap, made me think of all the Jim Joel horses on this side of the Atlantic from days gone by.

Thanks guys, been some season for the 100-1 shots, and delighted to collect from another. He was main bet of the day, and the fact my only other bet was Midnight Tango EW at 80’s, meant it was one to remember

Last Day of my season, and been a great season.

The Saturday always dominated by the three big handicaps, which are always crazy competitive.

This year though, the two chases in particular are outstanding renewals, and the 1505 in particular is easily in the top five handicaps there’s been this season. Twenty Two Runners, and I can only rule one out. In the end, had to go with three.

Shanbally Kid won it last year, seven pounds higher here, but the seven pounds wouldn’t have stopped him last year. Not concerned with his PU at Fairyhouse. Fishery Lane is one I haven’t given up on at all, and old Duffle Coat is a huge price if Fairyhouse was just to blow cobwebs away. A big if

Went for 2025 Winner in the next too, with Bill Baxter, and also going with fellow Brit, Dartmoor Pirate. This is another fabulous renewal

Going with Escaria Ten in the opener, and I’ll round off my season with Kopek De Mee in that mad hurdle

I’d like to see the old Nicholls. To me he just seems to have mellowed too much and maybe the edge he once had has gone.

When he’s asked about Cheltenham these days, he often says that its not the be all and end all, he has re-prioritized etc. I totally get that that is the case but i’d just like to hear him fight his case more, bang the drum over his achievements. Owners want to chances at the festival.

I honestly refuse to believe that he isn’t still as capable as any trainer out there.

I also think that he is brilliant at bringing hoses along slowly. Clan des Obeaux, cyrname, Pic d’orhy, Silviniaco Conti – horses that weren’t winning the supremes or arkles but were made into G1 winning chasers. Maybe people want the more instant success that the Skeltons/Mullins teams seem to be able to deliver.

Great start today with Techno Davis EW at 18’s, and the next two were much smaller. Unfortunately the bet on Franciscan Rock was a greedy one again, and made it a losing day.

    Techno Davis a big eyecatcher

Friday a lot quieter day, but main bet of the day will be an EW on Fr Gilligansvoyage in the opener. I bet him now and then, never wins, rarely places, but ajwaus gives a good spin at big odds

I studied Finance and Accountancy for 5 years. The examinations were hard; there were 5 parts with 4 subjects per part. Fail one subject out of 4 and you had to take the whole lot again. The pass rate was around 33% per part, so if you made it to the end you were doing well. The upside was once you passed employers were lining up.

I now read a University if offering a two days a week course in Finance and Accountancy. The only way they can do this is to dumb things down. It appears that university degrees are going from bad to worthless. The pity is that for these potential students by the time they graduate AI will have taken over mundane jobs. Companies will only employ those with experience.

    “Gold Cups break horses”

They do but plenty have won it more than once in recent years.
Gaelic Warrior has won the last two races on the bridle, looks like the Gold Cup has made him

    Hi Kendicate,

Sorry I missed your message earlier.

Yes, I’ve set up a meeting for the TRF test group on Thursday 30th at Punchestown, so feel free to jump in. The odds will update at 9am on the day as usual.

All going well, thanks for checking in. I’m currently running some analysis on the current scoring system and looking to make a few tweaks to it soon.

I’ve also made some more improvements to the “Copy Picks across Groups” feature and a few bits behind the scenes to keep things running smoothly.

I’m working on the Statistics page as well, and longer term looking to link single meeting leaderboards into festival-style leaderboards… but that’s one for down the line.

If there are any stats you’d expect or like to see, feel free to drop me a message, always good to get ideas from regular competition players.

And as always, it’d be great to get a few more of you involved. The feedback so far has been really positive and very helpful in shaping things.

    Cheers
    Craig

The media coverage we (York) have had since events at Spotland on Saturday have been nuts.
There were over 4,000 of us at the LNER for a screening of the game and a few left when Rochdale scored. We stayed and because of the nature of our goal it was a few seconds before I realised what had happened.
It would have been a travesty if we hadn’t won the league but Rochdale kept getting out of jail with injury time winners in their previous three games. It felt inevitable that there would be more injury time madness.
And so apt that both teams scored in that period.
I don’t think any City fan will ever witness anything like that again in our lifetime and I hope we continue to progress. With the ambitions of the Ugglas we should hopefully do that.
Unfortunately the council/police have at least for now put paid to any hope of an open top bus parade which wasn’t a problem back in 1984 (4th Div Champs and 1st team to score 100 pts) and our two play off wins in 1993 and 2012.
Still there will be a sizeable crowd at the ground tonight for a get together and whilst like a lot of York fans we miss Bootham Crescent, the LNER is a great facility. Although with us doing well and the Knights now in Super League the current capacity of 8500 here may not be enough in the future.

    Flat Season 2026

Welcome to a new season of Big Handicaps. This will last from Saturday 2nd May to when the November Handicap runs (or due to run if it gets cancelled).

Well done to our previous winner Wyldesyde and Nathan Hughes both obtained a score above 1,000 points :good:

This season is mostly a handicap on the flat although the maybe some summer jumps along the way, I will do my best to keep them on televised races.

Like the previous competition it will be just the one thread.

    The rules are simple

1 To enter just make an entry below.

2 Two different selections must be made, one win and one each way.
If you have only 1 selection with no instructions or duplicate the same selection then I will only count the wìn while the EW is void.

3 It is strongly suggested that reserves be made. Remember these will only come into effect if you have non runners, and also how they are written.

4 Scores will be update weekly, 50 points per runner deducted from your last score, then any winnings added will make your new score.

5 Selections can be updated/ Amended before the off time of the race, but please make a new post. If you do then I will use the latest post only.

6 The each way part will be calculated at quarter odds.
Only the placed part of your EW bet will count if the selection is placed.

7 The number of runners in the race will be what’s shown in any newspaper on the day. This and not the actual number starting will be what’s used to determine the number of places I will use.

Number of places I will use will be :

Handicaps of up to 20 runners, will be normal number of places.
Handicaps of 21 to 24 runners 5 places
Handicaps of 25 to 28 runners 6 places
Handicaps of 29+ runners 7 places

8 A win selection will have a 50 point win on it.
An each way selection will have a 25 point each way.
Any winnings will included their stake unit back.
The will be a free forecast at 1 point, for those getting first and second (either way) which I will use racing post details for payout.
For fun I will keep a track on successful outsiders (whether it wins or placed)

9 If you put your votes accidentally somewhere else, that’s no problem. Just let me know where it is and I will verify your selections. If valid I will count it, unless you’ve updated it in time.

Because I ususally at work on Saturdays I won’t be able to add any late substitute races, so will be adding what I think is the best one on Friday night, if weather looks unpredictable. This is just in case the main race is cancelled.

Any amended results I will count the first past the post as a winner, and the official winner as a winner. However only the official winner will count for the forecast. Similarly any deadheats I will give full points for both winners and both forecasts (if applicable).

You've got to accentuate the positive.
    Eliminate the negative.
    Latch on to the affirmative.
Don't mess with mister in between.

Very harsh on him taking out 11yr old Pic d’Orh. Similar happened end last summer when old park star etc where relocated to Henderson.
But it could be made a positive if those empty stables where filled with fresh news stars, we can only hope

How did IET do that! After he made a mistake early on I thought that was it. And he’s tiny! So impressive.

May limit my GAA bets to the Championship semi-finals and final – between Kerry failing to turn up in a meaningful way in the League Final and that “It’s showtime” France England Six Nations match enough to turn anyone off sports betting!

Had to take the 7/4 about Bayern lifting the CL Cup – particularly impressed by their performance in the Bernabeu against Madrid. Great all round stature, individual skills and almost telepathic passing. Not so impressive at home granted. But can they impose their excellent German game against PSG? This semi is the real final IMHO

CAS, I hope we agree that £1,800 out of £105,177 is not exactly a fine and it won’t ever prevent a jockey of doing the exact same thing. This time we are talking a head and I’d say the two extra strokes definitely made a difference.
