Thank you green. Let’s see how the day ends for them? He has only three horses entered for this Festival.

Good race. Glad they all got round safely too. Maj looked laboured, don’t know if it was the ground. Marine gave it a right good go.

Wonder what Barry Connell will say now that MN was firmly put in his pace – even with that serious early mistake and being a little sticky over the last two IET was in a different league.

Why were they at the start so early?

Energumene just confirmed as retired after a finishing 3rd over a trip too short for him these days – proper horse and glad he gets out in one piece for hopefully a long and happy retirement.

After making two small mistakes early on, I thought IET chances had gone. Townend did a great job of getting him back in the race and allowing him to regain confidence once they got into the back straight. This horse is a real machine and I’m a huge Marine Nationale fan.

LD, IET only has to stay on it’s feet and it automatically has almost a stone in hand on anything running in the 2 mile division.

CAS – Either somebody must have got their timing mixed up or they wanted to give the fans on the rails a bit longer to see the horses up close but it did seem odd to be at the start almost 10min before the off time especially as it is not like they have a long way to go to the start being that it is after the last fence just before the stands.

Ruby – agreed, considering how much of a tearaway he was to ride over hurdles he has now turned into a true professional and very versatile as he wins on good ground, good to soft and soft ground over trips ranging from 2m to 2m5f.

That January day at Ascot in the Clarence House where we were really starting to fear the worse for him where he was on the deck for so long after that tired looking fall seems an age ago yet was only two runs ago.

I’m glad he got over that Ascot experience. He’ll be nine next year, but I expect exactly the same campaign he had this season. Today’s time was 3.4 secs faster then the RP standard which confirms his outstanding performance.

    Well done with Eachtotheirown Ruby
I was at the bit where the jockeys and trainers talk to the owners after the race at Cheltenham. It wasn’t the owner that was at Punchestown but a woman. I overheard Barry Connoll say to her that the horse will win a grade 1.
I thought he was talking codswallop.. forgot all about it until he jumped the last in isolation…. :rose:

How did IET do that! After he made a mistake early on I thought that was it. And he’s tiny! So impressive.

Thanks, Nathan. His horses ran okay today. It’ll be interesting to see William Munny on Friday, his only other entry for Punchestown. And of course GW tomorrow…

Doctor Steinberg for me in the 3 miles novice hurdle. He just needs to settle better. I think that is mmore easy here then at Cheltenham.

Great to see another Fact to File vs Gaellic Warrior. Would like to see Geallic Warrior win it, but after the Gold Cup I can’t back him at this price. Gonna give Champ Kiely a chance who ran decent enough for a long time in the National and more importantly won the 3 miles novice chase here last season.

    Doctor Steinberg 9/2
    Champ Kiely 33/1 EW

ATR say its 1-1 this season between Gaelic Warrior and FTF
    Gaelic John Durkin
    FTF Irish Gold Cup
Obviously they didn’t meet at Kempton, then…

I’ll go 3-1 Gaelic Warrior after tomorrow
