Nice one Sam!
I just got an email from Godolphin…….
The Dubai Racing Carnival is back – and we’re excited to announce our next Godolphin Fantasy Stable League starts on Friday 24 November.
For some reason I don’t remember a Godolphin comp this soon – or am I just losing my mind!
November 10, 2023 at 16:26 #1669932Good Afternoon everybody.
Euroalien – I too have received the same e-mail and agree with you
about the starting date for this competition. From what I remember
it was after Christmas, early New Year when it used to start.
Jacqui will know for sure. Many Thanks
November 10, 2023 at 19:55 #1669953If Crimson Sand hadn’t fluffed his lines coming out of the
stalls, I reckon he would have won that Sam. From stall 1 it
meant he was trapped against the rails and only when the gaps
opened later he used a lot of petrol up making up the ground.
He was level in the last furlong but had just used up too much
to get there. I’ll keep a lookout for him coming out next time
he looks useful. Your e/w Blind Begger went one better winning
the race, nearly the f/c. Nice work

BIG DREAM

November 10, 2023 at 20:15 #1669955Hi everyone I’ve just got back from a big funeral.
An old rugby and workmate passed unexpectedly and where the family are left behind it is not a happy thing. Just 63 and a force of nature dedicated to his family and devoted to his doting grandchildren. Had gone part time and was full of life. Like me he was sports mad his tune today was a great number by ELO
he set his morning alarm to it and like me he loved his sport. He played every game under the sun and took his lads to every conceivable after school activity.
I was honoured to meet them today and was pleasantly surprised to be told he had mentioned me “once or twice”. More importantly I was able to tell them what a good brick their old man was and that he spoke of nothing else except his kids wife and family.
So for this mate his song I’ll put up in the tree thread but it was Mr blue sky and hopefully I’ll be doing the Dundalk 8:30 in his honour.
Although racing today like yesterday is quite irrelevant.
I’m off shortly to source some washed up beach wood stuck on rocks and way above the high tide line so I know it will still be there, then I’m going in the North Sea like I did yesterday and bracing as it was it was hugely invigorating and I actually crawled back in again after coming out and surprisingly 10.5 degrees isn’t too bad at all. Shorts are fine, why people insist on wet suits is beyond me. A dry robe for afters yes but to not feel the waters nullifies any effect at all. Then it’s up to my allotment once I’ve dragged home this king sized bit of wood which has to sawn down into moveable chunks then it will be part of a no dig bed or the plinth for an artists 👩🎨 sculpture. It’s bonfire night for the pruned fruit tree wood as no one wood have it got their own woodburners and the chap who I thought was going to wood chip it for my paths for free announced he’d be charging me 128 sterling or 280 for the day. So no artichokes or runner beans for him!!!

THE BOG BANK WIN
November 10, 2023 at 23:32 #1669994Hope your picking all the winners Sam,
I’m going to have a good read of your posts but have to get some competition horses on tonight as meeting my daughter for a Christmas Charity Craft Fair tomorrow…so please excuse me rushing in and out.In answer to John’s query about the Godolphin competition, yes it didn’t kick off until after Christmas last year so started Jan 2024 will be interesting to see where they’re going with this one!!
Good luck Graham in the Daylight tomorrow and all of us in the various comps
so many.must go and study up
JacThings turn out best for those who make the best of how things turn out...November 11, 2023 at 11:53 #1670050Good luck Jac & Graham as you battle in the second leg of the Daylight Cup.
You are carrying the hopes of the Meydan thread – so no pressure! Just bring it home
I got off the mark in the TTF comp yesterday, with a nice win by Irish Point.
Good Luck with all your bets and comp selections.
I’ll also be at yet another craft show, so no live racing for me today.
P.S. How’s Dave doing Jac? Any news on Marjorie’s hip Graham?
November 11, 2023 at 14:26 #1670099Well done getting off the mark in the TTF Andre, definitely the one
to watch. Marjorie goes in for her hip operation on 23rd November
so not long to wait, she is struggling at the moment.Good luck today Jac in the Daylight Cup, I missed my 1st of my
four, Certainly Red in the 2.25 at Wincanton, by 1 min so took
him out before posting. I’ll back him but I’ll also just about
throw up if he wins.A hard day for you yesterday seeing your friend go Sam but you’re
but nice their Dad had spoken about you to them. Best of luck today
mate
November 11, 2023 at 14:38 #1670107Well my bet is down, but in a way it’s also a relief
November 11, 2023 at 15:06 #1670130Even if I got away with that one for the Daylight Cup, I’ve
made a complete mess off my list there. My sis called me up
asking for a favour, which I couldn’t say no, but I came in
trying to get them on quickly and I’ve got 2 in the same race
one my nap. WTF was I thinking about. I’d imagine they both
get scrubbed and I’m left with the other 2 and my reserve. If
I do by some miracle get through this round, I don’t deserve
it
November 11, 2023 at 15:22 #1670137Well what do you know, Nathan has just saved my bacon, although still feel I’m
fighting an uphill battle. I forgot that with the old Daylight Cup rules you are
allowed 2 in a race. If I do get through (doubtful) I’ll be the jamiest bugger
ever
November 11, 2023 at 16:01 #1670149I collect driftwood, too. It goes into a corner of the garden along with old lobster pots and buoys etc.I find it beautiful.
November 11, 2023 at 16:41 #1670155Well I’m out Jac, Struth, my nap, was beaten by a neck at 14/1.
It would have given me 54 points and every chance, but 14pts for
2nd and 6 earlier for Gisburn won’t be enough to get by Isinglass
who had Secret Secret, a 5/2 winner worth 14 pts and he was already
16 ahead.Close with Struth, I thought he might hang on but Onesmoothoperator
(who was on my tracker
, along with Hansford) Onesmoothoperator
won at 15/2, worth 17 points or 34 with a nap. It’s all ifs and buts and
all that matters is Isanglass deserved his win.So it’s all down to you now Jac, I know you’ve got to evening runners so I’ll
be looking out for them. Best of luck
November 11, 2023 at 18:52 #1670167Chelmsford 1900
different tone
win
on a strict line through Waterloo sunset (who was beaten easily at leafy by the selection ) and then won impressively at kempton, different tone could relish the trip and despite expectations of the other favourite could prove different class here.
November 12, 2023 at 13:30 #1670231I’m out too Graham, I trusted Godolphin to get me off the mark with my Nap Veil Of Shadows in the 1.30 Newcastle and it just ran a dreadful race. I knew my fate as soon as rob got his Nap home. In a way a bit of relief that I can now concentrate on my 3 Horses Competition which I have just finished marking up with no less than 12 players finding winners. Noticed you’re still in those pesky stalls Graham but have arranged for warm blankets and hot chocolate (with a sneaky wee dram) to be sent down each night until next Saturday. That should put the fire back into you. Having said that I’m sitting on just 2 points for the last two weeks and going nowhere.
lol
JacThings turn out best for those who make the best of how things turn out...November 12, 2023 at 13:38 #1670233Sam so sorry to hear about your good friend
I lost my best friend a few months back, we had known each other since we started school together. Her daughter is my Goddaughter. She gave us Forget-me-Nots to sow which will be a lovely reminder (should they survive the frost) and she has had cushions made up of some of her mum’s
favouirite old jumpers to cuddle when she feels lonely, I thought that was lovely.
I really miss my friend.
Keep going with your winners Sam, sorry I am a bit behind with the posts on your successes as it’s been quite hectic this week with Builders in and Dave’s appointments.
Thank you Andre, Dave is getting on really well and has a follow up at Bart’s hospital on 29th November where they
will take another look at the device they implanted to see if it has settled into position nicely. That is another full day appointment as they have to do scans and bloods etc., but at least we come home afterwards.
All good wishes to Marjorie Graham, any news on the hip replacement yet?
Jac
