Too soon to write off – but not great today for a colt who is held in high esteem by his trainer and team.
JC Rouget on – Dibir: "It is a very serious colt who will go nicely letters of the alphabet."
Guess the translation that was lost is…Group horse

Are any SNA backers worried that a horse that he beat ‘Passion For Gold’
went on to win when upped to 1m 2f?None of his Rp Trophy victims looked like the mile was far enough for them either.
Another thought – doesn’t Aidan train them specifically for Newmarket – going months back?
He normally talks of how a slight mishap can scupper their chances. With ‘Steinbeck’ being the first choice originally and SNA being drafted in due to his setback – is this another cause for concern?
Hughes said on ATR – that Paco Boy has never worked or looked better…
Let’s hope that you don’t over run him and burn him out by mid season again!
Plan ahead, space out and save something for the autumn chaps
With this news and knowing the ability of ‘Paco’ is it a good sign for ‘Canford’ if he is the best in 40 years that they’ve had catch pigeons on their land?!

…not beaten far at Epsom either – wasn’t he staying on???

Of course both ‘Denman’ & Kauto Star’ will win more races between them.
Don’t like the idea of Denman in the National next year…I wouldn’t risk him in that…
I do wonder…how much some horses have to do for their owners?!
After all – even a gladiator was granted his freedom eventually!
What about the July Cup?!
How far will you go there?!

‘Jan Vermeer’ form from his G1 Criterium International franked in no uncertain terms at Longchamps today!

Those with big reps for the Aga ‘Dibir’ & ‘Behkabad’ been big disappointments…
With trials coming up – expect a few bubbles to burst – and some further shortening too!

Didn’t his trainer once say he had enough speed for 6f?!

Though if you read the below story – over 6f – it might be all over before he wakes up… – the 1m 1/2 should give him the time to collect his thoughts and get going!
The story behind the name:
DEAD VAN WALKING
Rip Van Winkle won Wednesday’s Sussex Stakes at Goodwood in great style following a last-minute injury scare, and it emerges that his passage in early life did not always go smoothly either. Aidan O’Brien’s Galileo colt, who also had an hiccup in the lead-up to finishing fourth in the 2,000 Guineas, was bred in Italy and Cristiana Brivio Sforza, who raised him, recalled: "The people at the farm called him ‘morituri’ [a Latin word meaning ‘future dead man’], because he had every problem that a yearling can have. One day I found him lifeless, stretched out on the ground in the paddock. He got up 20 minutes later and we never understood what happened."

Hi Fry –
This horse that excites you…
His fathers record over the mile is nothing special…
Have a look and compare times & weights:
POKER HANDICAP
1m Firm1 Elusive Quality (USA) 9/4F 5
2 Za-Im-Gb (USA) 11/1 4 8-2 Unknown –9 ran TIME
CANADIAN TURF STAKES (GRADE 3)
(4yo+) 1m Firm« 1 Courageous Cat (USA) 9/10F 4
« 2 5 hd Cherokee Artist (USA) 26/1 5 8-8 b H Graham Motion9 ran TIME
Don’t see why it won’t get the derby distance – but whether he is first past the post…well…Didn’t he also beat subsequent Group 1 winner in ‘Passion For Gold’

Now I’m not saying that he will (the light blue one) win an Arc but the form of SNA has been franked – at group 1 level!

Albeit as two year olds…

Preview: Dubai, Saturday
Meydan: Dubai Duty Free (Group 1) 1m1f, turf, 3yo+ 3.55pm GMT (live on ATR/RUK)
Garrett Gomez, jockey on Courageous Cat
"His Breeders’ Cup run was a great effort and he won well enough last month, when he had to battle hard. He is tough and will run a good race, but it does look a tough contest."Goldikova – that form is not looking good from the Breeders’ Cup…
Wouldnt read too much into any of that form just yet!
Wait until June.
I’d say as the jockey (GG) did- a hard thought win – but against what?!
Good time though!

Justenuffhumor – surely the ten F of the World Cup was his trip?

Take The Points (form) of beating Courageous Cat…
The Usual QT form of beating Take The Points…it’s all too interlinked to doubt (the US form)
And all stuffed in Dubai…it was a funny race though…but they all had the run of it!
Goldi needed drugs to beat that lot???

Sure they will win more races – I just won’t back Goldi!
Goldikova – that form is not looking good from the Breeders’ Cup…
Good news about the champ – hope for a good recovery.
Hey guys – fishing season is over ’til june!

Not interested in the Guineas! – I’m sure that will get a lot of these

Aiden hasn’t had the ammo – not a stand out like ‘George’ anyways…
He has the top rated in SNA – yet he’s not seen in the same light – everyone wants to take him on in both the Guineas & Derby – as ever hindsight will be funny this year?!!

As for targeting the Breeders’ Cup –
I’d say the runners that he’s had there – were there more as an afterthought – why not give it a go sort of thing.
If they were given the perfect prep – he would sure be doing better over there – most get sent stateside having had a long hard season – having already met/contested targets earlier on in the year.(This may contradict the above)
Has anyone noticed how none of the classic generation that contested races all year – against ‘Sea The Stars’ covered themselves in glory at Santa Anita last dec?
Did they all run below form?!
(Talent would have helped negate the less than perfect prep surely?)As for the breeding he seems to have a young crop in general this year:
St Nicholas Abbey b 13 Apr
Fencing Master b 25 Apr
Cape Blanco ch 20 Apr
Beethoven b 02 Aprwallace-no7 – thanks for the info
Zarkava – re: foaling dates – nothing sinister was thought – just different starting points!‘Loveisallyouneed’ is nailed on for a place! – (on pedigree)

I will also follow the progress of ‘Tootsie Wootsie’!

Zarkava – this may be a late maturing type so be patient!

Well done Paddy and Nigel for getting him right for today!
Loved – the TT Henry style celebration!!! – Huushhhhhed a few today!

Here’s to the weekend – Many thanks!

It’s good news that Kauto is o.k…well done Denman – but you need a ‘Commander’ in these situations!
