There must be a lot of Man U fans on here – the forum is empty tonight!

I’m a gooner – I can’t agree with your comments re- Walcott.
There’s more problems in the team without using him not getting the ball as an excuse for that performance.
Even without Gallas, Persie, Song – they would not be good enough. The 1st & 2nd are over rated and soon to be past it – Song is slow…
As for Theo – he needs to ditch the bling, and get back to actually playing football!
The left back Cliche – led them last night and in the second half was further forward than Theo (showing him up) when romping forward – there were times when you had to say where are you Theo? – He certinaly wasn’t helping out in the attack and went missing as he does.
You have to be able to use your loaf and think – hey it’s ok to come in off of the wing – where I’m getting marked and we’re going out any ways… – it’s like punting – take a chance!
As for the others, the manager included well…

Will he ever regain that title – I’m not sure…
Just stumbled across this after your post on the ‘French’ one – cool thread – though I admit I haven’t read it all!
Enjoyed many trips – have family out there and been lucky to visit some nice places…
This is for the time fans…
There were five races over the mile when ‘Jan Vermeer’ won at Saint-Cloud.
‘Santa’ Agata’ – f3 – 1m 50.60
‘Red Barn’ – m3 – 1m 48.80
‘Jan Vermeer’ – m2 – 1m 45.60
‘Zafisio’ – m3 – 1m 45.30
‘Salut Lisa’ – f5 – 1m 49.70
It might be interesting that ‘Santa Agata’ was beat by ‘Liliside’ recently on 1-4-10
Last year she had only been beaten 1/2 a length by ‘No Risk At All’ – who went on to beat ‘Behkabad’ on 1-4-10
Some races of interest to look forward to…as well as those tomorrow…
11-4-10 Ferrieres – Longchamp
11-4-10 Finlande – Longchamp
11-4-10 Noailles – Longchamp – ‘Rewilding’, ‘Planteur’ & more!
11-4-10 D’Harcourt – Longchamp – Headed by ‘Cutlass Bay’
13-4-10 Caius – Saint-Cloud
15-4-1 D’Escoville’ – Longchamp
8-5-10 Greffulhe – Saint-Cloud
16-5-10 Hocquart – Longchamp
23-5-10 Saint-Alary – Longchamp
I also like ‘Joanna’ – will she like the cut in the ground?
‘Lixirova’ won’t mind it (but has ground to make up on ‘Joanna’ – will the ground and 1st time out for both make the difference?) – Anything can happen from 2 – 3!Would have liked to see ‘Dolled Up’ run as she is a good yardstick having competed against most of them last year – you can link Morny form Lagardere form…
‘Kayef’ is entered on sun over 2,200m at Longchamp.
‘Handsome Devil’ in also – formlines to ‘Rewilding’ who goes in he Noailles for Fabre.‘Ocean Seven’ – is brother to ‘Goldikova’ also in the care of Head.
C.P. On ‘Makfi’ in the Djebel – the team who brought us ‘Chineur’!
Am looking forward to the ‘Imprudence’ – pitty there’s no ‘Dolled Up’ there…
The ‘Djebel’ should be interesting if only to see how a 100/1 shot for Newmarket gets on!
The story so far…well some of it!
P.s. – Sorry to the Epsom fanatics – think we need a new thread!
Can just see Matt Chapman cringe at me calling the Jockey Club a Derby!
Well – I expected all sorts of stick for supporting a team on the rack!
The Force is the early Derby trial – don’t know why…but it might have changed since the distance for the Jockey Club was cut back?
Maybe the French Guineas is going to have a bigger impact at Chantilly? i.e those who get beat at Longchamp will be better over further – same goes for the french 1000 and oaks – form turn around!
After ‘Behestham’ was beat there last year (and Hurricane Run) there were shouts to revert back to 1m 4f – Soumillon was one of the loudest voices!
I got the entry from France Gallop…no doubt you’ve found them now?
Don’t see anything for the Force…The one you mentioned isn’t quoted as being a big hope compared to the others…
Here’s what they said on ‘Behkabad’
Prize Winner, Behkabad was only 2 years to Rouget have shown at group level. "It was very wise with him later this year and should make his return in the Omnium II (April 1). Unless both the Prix La Force."
Think we’ll see him here – the Force?
(Jc won it a few times – normally his race for his derby horse!)
Andy – fair enough!

Good point re: R Moore & Workforce – if he starts to talk it up like he did ‘Spanish Moon’ before his run in the Hong Kong vase – when he called him a cert – I’ll take note – someone give Ryan a mic!

The Force is the Jockey club trial – the other is for stayers – I.e. ‘Wajir’ of last year…

Not sure if he’s thought of top tier…have to check my notes…
but the Gooners are on – love all things French!
Hey Andy some fair points there – we just view it from different angles!
They may well have a triple crown winner – but that is out of date it seems now – so the term should be deleted from racing talk!
Last years Dewhurst had strange similarities to the one of ’08 in that it was a bunched finish and the more fancied runners blew out!
I viewed the run from ‘Steinbeck’ completely differently to you – I thought that he was the one to take out.
Murtagh rode a funny race in that he seemed to look for a lead then never got one – he then seemed happy to speed dual with ‘Chabal’.
Considering it was only his second run and after a very long lay off – it was a top notch effort!
The race comments seem to back this up:
"led, ridden 2f out, kept on well under pressure until headed no extra final 100 yards"(In my eyes I wouldn’t see him as just a sprinter)
Re: ‘Beethoven’ Aiden said on ATR that he felt that he should have or would have won the Breeders’ Cup race but for being bulked at the start.
I don’t really see it myself – but see the ‘Rip Van’ thread as Aidan has some funny views! – I understand that he has vested interests as he bred the colt.I’ve found an article by Tony Morris here are some of the extracts (it’s quite long but a very interesting read – let me know if you would like to see more – you or anyone for that matter?

OVER the last 40 years the Dewhurst Stakes has delivered many outstanding performances, its roll of honour featuring as many famous names.
Last year we had a different sort of Dewhurst, when Intense Focus, the most exposed horse in the field, with only a maiden win on his cv, prevailed in a tight finish, and we were left scratching our heads over just what the form meant. Many went away believing that some of those behind him were better prospects for 2009.
Twelve months on a sense of déjà vu is inescapable. Beethoven, the most experienced of the 15 runners, but with only one win in nine attempts to show for it, claimed the spoils in a four-way photo-finish which involved his two better-fancied stable-companions, and again we had to conclude that the Dewhurst had not crowned a champion.
With eight runs behind him, the colt went into the Group 1 Prix Jean-Luc Lagardere as the most experienced runner in the field, but there was no Ode to Joy at the end of this Beethoven’s ninth, as he beat only one home and seemed to be quite outclassed by the winner, Siyouni.
On Saturday, opposed by several colts who had already beaten him, as well as by two more highly regarded stablemates in Steinbeck and Fencing Master, it was hardly surprising that Beethoven – even with Ryan Moore in the saddle – had few friends in the market and was allowed to go off at 33-1.
Could anyone imagine that the addition of a visor to his equipment would enable him to win what was usually Britain’s most competitive race for juveniles?
It seems reasonable to conclude now that the visor did make a difference. He was never far from the firing line, did not pick up immediately when asked, but responded well to Moore’s exertions, and although he edged slightly right in the final furlong, he kept going resolutely in a finish contested by four game colts.
Experience and the opportunity to go 7f on ground riding on the fast side of good were surely also contributory factors in Beethoven’s success. HeH
He is going to get 1m, and if it is decided to extend his season with a shot at theBreeders’ Cup Juvenile Turf, his chance there will have to be respected.
Meanwhile, connections of several of those who finished behind him at Newmarket will have no qualms about taking him on again in 2010. There were better horses than Intense Focus – notably Rip Van Winkle and Delegator – in last year’s Dewhurst, and it will come as no surprise if some of Beethoven’s victims improve past him next season.
Re: ‘Fencing Master’ – I think that he’ll run like the ‘Duke’ & ‘Eagle Mountain’ did also ‘Rip (staying on)…could be wrong but see him using this for a trial to a race over further.
Aidan knows this all – hence the question about a substitute. It will also help in running ST Nic at headquarters if he wants to run something else in the Derby trials in Ireland rather than sending them over to France early for races like he did last year.
I note that he has no entry in the Noailles this weekend at Longchamps – last year ‘Golden Sword’ ran there…I’ve just noticed that another well thought of with hopes for group races was beat late last month.
It doesn’t look like the JC Rouget stable has made the same flying start as last year…
The Prix Noailles is on saturday ‘Laristan’ another Rouget/Aga runner will give further pointers to their wellbeing…
One who is firing is E Lellouche – his ‘Planteur’ (runs in the Noailles) gives form lines to ‘Jan Vermeer’ and ‘Behkabad’ through – ‘Arasin’ who only went down 3/4 to the latter…
What price for the King George – July Cup double?!!

You couldn’t make this up – here’s where the idea came from – not that I’m a believer!

“I can’t tell you how amazing this horse is because he didn’t have a clear run in any of his races this year. The Eclipse was the first half-clear run he got. He’s had so much speed always – I know everyone goes on about me saying that but it’s all cruising speed with this horse. We’ve never had a horse with so much class and speed by Galileo. He’s a horse we’d have no problem running in the July Cup (six furlongs). It’s pure class with him.
Wasn’t there a chain a thought that horses don’t win over a mile and then the Derby distance?
I.e. why Sea The Stars, Zarkava seemed so special – now they are like buses these trip adaptable types!

Don’t get me wrong – I like to see the stats and trends blown apart…
but it weren’t too long ago that people doubted that a horse with form in ‘Manduro’ could do both!
As for the 100/1 double – go ask those that laid Binocular 999/1!
