I Don’t believe for a second that Steinbeck is injured or missing the race purely due to injury. He may have a knock but 6 weeks ago their was rumours that
Steinbeck was Irish 2000
St Nick Guineas
Fencing Master French 2000With continued support for Cape Blanco he could also run in the 2000 now.
Jan Vermeer the Ballydoyle prep in Ireland for the Derby(ballysax/derrinstown etc)
Could be some truth to this as ‘Fencing Master’ is entered up for the Fontainebleau…
same path as ‘Westphalia’ last year???
Deleted – double post oops!
I see the first lot of entries are out for the Fontainbleau & Grotte…
Haven’t put them up as forfait 1 is – 21 Avril
Hey – Mare – yes there are some interesting stories!
When did you last go or do you have any plans to go again?
You don’t need to be able to speak French to know what they are saying on the message boards across the channel:
special duty vous etes sure qu elle tienne la distance des 1600 ? a newmarket ? j ai un doute
Not exactly the million dollar question…but a big one still…
Another re: the size issue!
"He’s got an awful lot going for him," said Johnston. "The only doubt in my mind is that I wish he was a hand taller. He hasn’t grown at all over the winter."
Re: the weight issue!
Johnston declared himself satisfied with the work and with the fact that Awzaan is just
http://www.guardian.co.uk/sport/2010/ap … h-mohammedAll positive vibes…
Note: for the record I haven’t said that you need a horse the size of a house to have a good ‘un!

More info from Johnston on ‘Awzaan’ :
Johnston, however, presents a compulsive argument for his son of Alhaarth.
‘The stamina doubts are because of the races we ran Awzaan in (over six furlongs) but his pedigree and style of running say he will stay. With Attraction, the doubts were more understandable. She blazed a trail and pulled like a train.’
Awzaan’s maturity, Johnston argues, will be a weapon against Aidan O’Brien’s St Nicholas Abbey. The son of Montjeu and impressive Group One Racing Post Trophy winner is 5-2 favourite for the Guineas despite his pedigree suggesting he may need further than a mile to excel. Johnston added: ‘If I was training St Nicholas Abbey, I would be thinking that he is going to be better in June rather than at the beginning of May and possibly over further, whereas we can be confident that we have the finished article.’Read more: http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/racing … z0kehdwIMt
Having just viewed the Mark Johnston interview on ATR – I’d say that Hills is likely to be on ‘Awzaan’ – all vibes indicate that this will be the case…
He’s yet another who will be going there without a prep – going for a race course gallop at HQ instead.
They also mentioned that he hadn’t grown much…more filling out but had done superb over the winter – unbeaten ’till the big day…
It was also very interesting to note the comments made by Mr Johnston re: a horses body weight and how much that he takes note if it when preparing one for a first up run!

Is he going & where? – simple…you would have thought?!
There don’t appear too many that want a run beforehand – where are all the decent opponents going to come from for the trials?!

How telling will they be…

It looks like he’d like to ride this one…’Silver Frost’ style!
That’s fine! coming from…the 4th most active poster on here with 958 posts in the last five days!

At least we agree French form stacks up much better!

Ole – I’ve added that race thanks!
Think they may to improve a bit – see ‘Tussian’ was beat by ‘Dibir’…
‘Battlecat’ was bt by ‘Maroon Machine’ who runs in the first tomoz…
Race 7 looks interesting…Anybody else get on ‘Makfi’ or Joanna?! e/w double to nothing!

I’ll check that other race – if there’s anymore Ole – plz drop the line…
What was said before the race by Head-M : I am delighted by the way she wintered and the testing ground will be the same for all the runners.
After the race having been a short price fav (albeit drifting): "The filly ran well and the ground was not in her favour."
When you look at the form of ‘Joanna’ she should have been as ill at ease on the testing as ‘Special’ today.
Her only defeat came in Italy to ‘Cool Contest’ on soft bt 2l (on her 2nd start having won her maiden by 6l)
Back on good ground and over the same trip she reversed form with ‘Cool Contest’ beating her 3 1/4l
The performance from ‘Special’ didn’t do anything to allay my fears about trip – also I was under the impression that they would settle her in behind?? – When a trainer talks that game…trip becomes a worry!
As it is if she runs like that – she’s a sitting duck as she was today.Mare: I doubt we’ll see them race against each other – esp if she doesn’t stay at Newmarket – both will be over different trips…
But will they?
Soumillon added of Joanna afterwards: "If you are patient with Joanna she should definitely stay a mile in top-class company."
So what did we see today a potential non-stayer beating another?!!
The way ‘comeuppance’ was used – Can read like you want him to fall or something worse.
He goes down in history as a Gold Cup winner – your bets if you weren’t on him (hence the dislike) go down the pan – get over it!
Also don’t over complicate things chaps – what is his record in the King George?
It’s a bit different to that at Chelts – horses for courses!

Once you miss a boat don’t try to get back on…

Darma – hope so too – there are a lot of unexposed sorts she is one!

I’m not sure about ‘Special Duty’ – it bugs me that they thought of running her in the L’Abbaye – due to her having so much speed.
From listening to her trainer on ‘Get On’ today – she was saying how she is now more settled – can come from off the pace – and doesn’t have to lead.
That adds more doubt and to be honest if CP were on board it might be better – none much better at setting things up from the front than him. Also this time two years back ‘Natagora’ was a bigger price – I backed her on the day at 7/2 having won her trial – the price doesn’t appeal now – had a lil’ bet at a lil’ bigger but I’m happy with that – due to my feeling that there might be another ‘Ghanaati’ in the field…
The form of the Morny is either very good or it’s something else…I’m looking forward to seeing as it may be pointing to something!
Liked the title to this! – not a fan of baseball – nor football too drawn out bit like the series Lost and 24!
The result of the Man U match there – shows why I don’t bet on anything that talks or walks…
Even money no thanks – I’ll take my chances on some long shots…’cos surprises happen!
