All reports I came across from Australia suggested that Starspangledbanner would be aimed at the July Cup. He may have won the most important Guineas race Downunder but he certainly didn’t do so in a manner that was suggesting he’s a top miler. He was a sprinter getting lucky with a soft lead that day. I can’t see life being that easy for him over a mile at Ascot. Not in the same league as Starcraft/Haradasun over a mile for mine.
April 2, 2010 at 21:20 #287242You lot are obsessed with AOB horses!!
The Lockinge is the kind of race Pacos Boy could win!!
I always thought it didnt get a mile until last year!!
How wrong I am sometimes!!April 2, 2010 at 21:25 #287245TAPK
If Fame And Glory turns out to be a 10f horse, I really will take up knitting.
Well worded reet,Fame and Glory will start over 11/4m,but will undoubtedly be better over 11/2m as the season progresses! You knit one as i pearl another winner!

Let’s hope that you don’t over run him and burn him out by mid season again!
Plan ahead, space out and save something for the autumn chaps
With this news and knowing the ability of ‘Paco’ is it a good sign for ‘Canford’ if he is the best in 40 years that they’ve had catch pigeons on their land?!
April 14, 2010 at 16:45 #290268Is RIP VW going to run in this does anyone know?

He is entered, but Ballydoyle are now suggesting that they might wait for Ascot to unleash RVW.

I see that plans might include the Breeders’ Cup – anyone think that he might get there?!

Love the use of the word ‘unleashed’ there! Rip Van Winkle WILL go unbeaten in 2010. You heard it here first.

He’ll get to the Breeders Cup. Owners have been keen on it for a long time now.
In all honesty, I think that is the main aim in the back of their minds. Lockinge, Queen Anne, Sussex Stakes/Marois, Foret, BC Mile would be how I see him going.
April 28, 2010 at 19:17 #292987Yep, until May 15th if Rip runs at Newbury!
April 30, 2010 at 08:43 #293104Crizzy – you quoted the wrong person there…
April 30, 2010 at 19:50 #293187Zenjah…really sorry about that
May 1, 2010 at 08:57 #293236All is cool!

It’s funny as I’d never say such a thing – as I’m not his biggest fan…
May 1, 2010 at 10:28 #293254Aiden – PLEASE UNLEASH RIP RUN MAY 15th!
May 1, 2010 at 10:51 #293255I’m glad that you put it like that…
And not like this – ‘Please Unleash The Winkle’
May 7, 2010 at 00:26 #294477There will be no unleashing of Rips, Vans or Winkles
I like Famous Name for this
(edit: running the Heritage on Sunday so probably not running the Lockinge)
. Or Paco Boy. And what about Lord Shanakill’s move to Monsignor Cecil?
Anyone hear anything about Zacinto? He is still entered.
May 7, 2010 at 00:37 #294478Zacinto was given a very upbeat gallop report today and surely is the most likely winner. He got far closer to Rip than Paco Boy did and he has much more improvement in him too.
