    Chelmsford 2040

    Jackson Street
    Each way

Good chance on his only win in a class five and finds himself top weight on this drop in class on a very handy mark if handling the weight.
A big drifter in the market today.

    YARMOUTH 2040

    WAVE RIDER
    Win
If he handles the cut must have a chance as an unexposed three year old. Lacks the experience of most of these but looks to be very well treated at the weights if strong enough. Horses in front of this one on on debut have gone onto group two class or been sold abroad.
    RATHGAR
    Win
Won this last year same combination team up here.

Dropped a long way in the ratings since heavy ground win for Charlie Johnstone.
    Conditions should suit here.

    Hello everyone.
Wow Andre and Jac the bookie bashers!!
    Great stuff. Good to see.
Been busy here in Suffolk catching up with work and projects and life is going well. Lots of good things going on for me and I am in Mother Nature’s good books.
I’ve not seen much on the horse front (if
you don’t include the horse’s end product which is a mainstay of my gardening!) but I did read a free to view article on the racing post website about Jim Goldie who trained his first group one winner at Ascot. Other than that I’ve barely read about or watched a race this summer. We are enjoying a nice sprinkle of rain this morning the steady sort which farmers and gardeners alike hope for as often as possible.
I hope the summer is going really well for everybody.

    AL WAS STORM
    Each way
Has shown marked improvement on both runs since debut.
Not at all fancied but could show up well despite the opposition. Far from ideal draw but could make a good start to negate the draw.

No bet 8:35 Windsor but here’s a poem that I related to Big G. It’s based on fact with a little artistic licence and involves yours truly in the supporting role. A mate of mine Rannie Ransome lives out in the high ground at the top of the water table at a highly spiritual place called Newbourne. In the old days of the last century swathes of this area was given over to sharecroppers settlers invited into have a better life to work in cooperatives on this very fertile part of the Deben Peninsula there are prehistoric river beds in the clay abd crag and tropical treasures embedded in ancient deposits. I stayed here on my mates plot last summer and after one particularly enjoyable day at Helmingham Hall I accepted an invite to stay over at newbourne and all that t entails ( a trip to the Fox 🦊 pub and a barbecue later ) the air is special here too and refreshed I woke up the next day and penned “The perfect Rose “ I’m talking with other artists about adapting that particular poem into something else sone small form of production. We’ll see .
Any way I wrote this poem The Romany Lady in one go in 45 minutes I hope you like it….

Romany Lady you are so powerful, enchanting and beautiful.
I rise and fall to your mystique.
In your arms I’m so dutiful.
I’m bright but compared to you I’m just a geek.
Your wisdom untapped and your knowledge I seek.
One look in your eyes and I fall at your feet.

I come to you daily, you turn me away.
I’m not like the others, my heart it is straight.

We met in a tempest and you said it was fate.
You said you knew we were meeting, that’s strange to relate.
You turned me down flat when I asked for a date.

You told me my palm and my eyes gave you reason to fear.

I asked what you meant that you should make it clear.
You said “it’s not mine to tell you but you should take care.”
I begged tell me more you cried no you must just leave it there.
This is not your fate but a challenge, you may have to fight.
Just make sure my friend, that you stay in the light.
Always avoid the darkness and keep doing what’s right.
Maybe just once stay by me tonight.
I stayed and we talked deep past the witching hour.
Her senses enhanced we both gazed at the fire.
She’d lit it for me and it rose higher and higher.
Amazing but true I could see a face in the fire.
It screamed out aloud a stark warning for sure
The Romany extinguished before it could say more.
“Why did you do that it was starting to glow.”
You would have heard things that we don’t need to know.
Now we are no longer strangers so come back inside.
I’ve something to tell you I’d like to confide.
Her face it had softened her features more smooth.
All the awkwardness and tension were now removed.
I looked into her eyes they were welcoming and tearful too.
I feel into her arms and we both knew.
Her touch so gentle, so deep tender and true.

The sunlight that morning gave her a start.
She sat up bolt like and sighed you need to depart.
Don’t come back for a couple of days.
I want no one to see you and know of our ways.

Days become weeks and weeks become months.
    She’d gone away and I hadn’t a hunch.
She’d lived in a house then but got back on the road.
It seemed that her burdens on me she couldn’t unload.
She’d left a key and a note to say that she had gone.
She promised me dearly that I’d done nothing wrong.
Find yourself another and I know that I will.
Don’t allow your heart to be broken just go out and chill.
I told you somethings and they were all true
I’d never been in the company of one like you.
There you’ve been told now you don’t have to stay.
Just tidy up the house then just be on your way.
The trouble I warned you of you did fight and you held sway.
But the outcome would have been the same had you just turned and run away.
So think when I tell you there are things we can’t understand
And never forget me I’m still holding your hand.
There are lots we mere mortals don’t know about love ❤️.
But the forces that guide us are deserving of our trust.

Big G’s baby that one and you’ve got a run for your money there Graham. I’m off out to Ipswich tonight. I walked into the bookies in town earlier and had a quick chat with the man at the counter. I had no idea what tonight’s racing was but looking at the cards it has that lovely summer air about it. What with Cartmel and Salisbury running cards.
I’m heading out the door shortly but may have a peep at the lucky last at Windsor the 2035.
I certainly won’t be posting it late as I’m virtually out the door now. Hopefully there isn’t an odds on favourite but maybe there is sone value laying around there maybe a wee gamble going on taking a look now ……

Hello Big G I haven’t been about much but could sense the tension and worry on this thread over your enforced absence whenever I was browsing.
That you are much loved 🥰 around these parts is never ever in doubt.
It’s always lovely to converse with you and naturally the content matter would often stray over “talking shop” about each other’s careers. I have dropped you a line about a pub in Ipswich called the Black Horse which again ties things in nicely! Like everyone else I join in this huge collective sigh of relief on your return!
    Best wishes

Hello everyone. Jac I hope you’ve had a good time of Newmarket I haven’t seen a race abd have absolutely no idea what happened!
I’ve seen your f/c though!! Well done. I’ve not heard from Big G so he’s dealing with health I guess. Very best wishes Graham we sure do love you old boy ♥️. Hopefully I’m now in a position to begin posting regularly again on the forum. I’ve missed it loads but been busy doing my thing like you do. I’m going to start with the lucky last tonight wherever it may be then hopefully do some spring pruning in the Tree thread. It would be great to be back again…..

Both my Dad and subsequently my Mum loved George and Mildred. I think both of them saw a bit of each other in the characters and in any case both were lovable to all and sundry!
Murphy and Yootha turned up in all sorts of productions as the couple and were a very popular institution back in the day.
They certainly were part of my developing years and an enjoyable part at that.

    Newcastle 2030
A poor race even by Newcastle standards, but
    ARLINGTON (Win)
Should have enough here at the top of the field to last home.
Jockey’s only ride tonight and the horse’s experience over course and distance on paper looks just about right even at the weights given the quality here.
Not a race to get too engrossed in though.

    Victory Shout
    Win
Interesting tussle this with the odds on
Almosh’her looking very short given a couple of undisclosed factors.
Ultimately the competitive nature of a triumph hurdle trial on debut for the yard at Cheltenham saw VS go off at silky prices on flat debut for this yard and nearly caused an upset at Southwell. He’s overpriced again and already has the distance against the unexposed favourite who has good figures to his name.
With Hollie Doyle on board again to renew the partnership favourite backers will be in for squeaky seats time…..

Good morning all I hope you are all well it’s spring already and I’m loving it being warm already won’t be long before the North Sea’s urgings are accepted and I take a dip.
I’ve not seen a race of any code for a while and I guess Cheltenham will the racing that finally engages me away from gardening briefly. Big G I’ll be in touch shortly by pm. Jac sorry I haven’t been in touch but things have been a bit busy. Lots going on and long term and short term planning is beginning to pay off with the book beginning to take shape with the illustrator coming up with some great interpretations of my poetry. There is a lot to do, much more than I thought or actually maybe just as much as I thought!! We will get there but it will come when it comes. I’m doing a stand up “open mike” recital in a pub in Ipswich on Tuesday night then another one at a storytelling night at the Dive Inn Saint Helen’s street Ipswich on march 18 th
It all builds up and I’m changing from reading them off my phone the way I’ve composed them all to having clear printed sheets to read from. Iknow the poems well and part read them part recite them off by heart it’s great be able to look at the audience, it becomes a little more animated each time, then you realise your arms are moving then your body and slowly it becomes a performance almost a dance but not quite.
I’ve got some back pay due from a client which has built up so next month I’m hoping to be “flush” which means I’m definitely going to the Craven meeting at HQ and look forward to seeing you there.

No Chelters this time round but I’ve ticked that one off my list now.
Hopefully I’ll be revisiting the Tree thread this month with a weekly short entry for march yesterday marked a year since starting my volunteer gardener position and the contrasts in me between now and then are stark. I’ve developed and although I’m yet to invest in either a calendar or a diary much of the coming months are mapping themselves out already. More about that on the Tree 🌲 thread. Best wishes everyone 👍.
