Ruling Court a non-runner
June 7, 2025 at 14:10 #1732395So good to soft ground is no good for him (even though the times of the first two races suggest it is closer to good ground) – with the typical English Summer we can get that could make things interesting as to where he runs next if they hold fast to that rule of thumb.
June 7, 2025 at 14:12 #1732396I’m on 2 at a price , Nightwalker caught the eye in the range and breeding wise looks solid to stay , also on Tornado Alert , not guaranteed to stay but apparently will def come on for that first run , as I’ve said I don’t think this is a vintage race so quite happy to have a go at the prices for 4 places
Pick 3 on Saturday champion 2025/2026
June 7, 2025 at 14:14 #1732397Not really, LD.
The thinking of the ground being too soft is probably more to do with staying the trip than acting on the surface. They’d probably think good-soft is ok when racing at a mile or mile and a quarter.Value Is EverythingJune 7, 2025 at 14:16 #1732398There goes the Triple Crown for another year.
June 7, 2025 at 14:34 #1732404Might get light rain, but he worst rain seems now to be forecast after the Derby.
Value Is EverythingJune 7, 2025 at 14:50 #1732409A few small ews
Tennessee Stud who won a G1, albeit a bad one , and shouldn’t mind the ground. Beat my original choice Shackleton last year (though that’s not good form) which is why I was interested, and this was plan A according to the trainer. I’m not bothered about his preo run, prob wasn’t half fit.
Also backed the two Frankels , Damysus and Nightwalker.
June 7, 2025 at 14:52 #1732410He has never run on anything softer than good so they have no idea whether he will or won’t handle it, they didn’t seem to have an issue with the trip pre-race either so I don’t think it is a ground/trip combination problem either.
They have a built in excuse if he does underperform, they don’t have an unbeaten record to protect and the races run on the round course have been slow by 0.74s and 1.37s which is closer to good ground times.
If it was soft ground I could understand the decision but stating the ground as it currently is (somewhere between good and good to soft) as a reason not to run is pretty weak reasoning in the scheme of things….especially when we are talking about the Derby.
June 7, 2025 at 15:00 #1732412Correct LD, times suggest the ground is as good as theyd have expected it to be, the filly yesterday has put them off, assuming she came oit of the race fairly tired
June 7, 2025 at 15:14 #1732415I reckon Ruling Court would have run if Desert Flower had run yesterday. They don’t want to have two Guineas winners beaten.
June 7, 2025 at 15:16 #1732417It was Buick that made the call, not Charlie. He felt it was softer than the advertised going.
June 7, 2025 at 15:20 #1732418AL WAS STORM
Each way
Has shown marked improvement on both runs since debut.
Not at all fancied but could show up well despite the opposition. Far from ideal draw but could make a good start to negate the draw.June 7, 2025 at 15:28 #1732419Lambourn looks very big!
How will he handle the course?June 7, 2025 at 15:35 #1732420Damysus is catching my eye.
