——————————————————————————–

We bought an appaloosa gelding who has been castrated as a younger horse.

However when we got him home we found that he still had coltish tendancies. He liked to herd our mare about (one mare and three geldings in paddock) and was quite controlling in the field

Been there, bought that and still got him…. just! :? It can be a right royal pain in the bot and I totally agree and understand your decision to move him on Adrian, definitely not worth the risk.

Total ditto to everything SL & Sal said. The very best of luck with him T&S and keep us updated of how things are going.

Absolutely gutted to hear the old boy has passed away, he was due a few more years of retirement yet judging by his condition and the care he was getting at home. He was a ‘proper’ stamp of a NH horse and one i followed along his career and i just loved him to bits.

I will always remember the day when he did a leg chasing Danoli home, they were two very gutsy horses on that run in. But i think the worst thing about him getting injured was being told PB was really looking forwards to that years Gold Cup as he thought he was as good as ever (won’t be beat were the words coming out of Brandsby  ) and he was also to be his Grand National horse that year which might surprise a few people.

Thanks for the Memories Old Lad.

Swan was a top hurdles rider but has not ridden competitively for 3 years since his retirement.
Surely better to engage a current competitive rider

Charlie Swan may not be riding competitively in racing but i saw him out showjumping and he is still as fit as a fiddle and has lost none of his skills. His partner and himself were in another league to anyone else. He’s still ‘got it’.

As for him riding Brave Inca i think it’s a similar rumour as in the John Francome and Desert Orchid one that did the rounds some years ago. I can’t see it happening but IF it did i wouldn’t be worried about CS not being up to scratch.

No hesitation in saying Night Nurse. His dead heat with Monksfield in the Templegate at Aintree stands out. He totally flattened the second last and still managed to ‘win’. I’ve yet to see a horse with more guts than him. Totally agree with Adrian too about Paddy Brod riding him, plus Alan Brown in later years!

He was also the best horse never to win the Gold Cup having chased home Little Owl. I never did forgive Peter for running Little Owl that year!
For all the folks going to point to points this year would you pretty please keep an eye out for a huge favourite of mine, Young Claude? The chances are he will be running oop north and i think ridden by Miles Seston and still owned by Mrs J Plummer. He was an old inmate of Peter Beaumonts (not sure these days as i haven’t spoken to my dad about YC recently) and a half brother to Young Kenny. He’s one of those horses that get under your skin and although he didn’t live up to expectations i still adore him. :cloud9:

I did ask my dad to tell Mrs P when she was finished with him to pass him along but i got wise and thought i’d leave the old rascal to someone better equipped and a good deal fitter:biggrin:

An ERNORMOUS well done to everyone who has been involved with Taj from the day she was bought. I was quite emotional when i saw the result and a few tears were shed i have to say for obvious reasons.
Kirsty is a wizard in my opinion and no words can express her well enough in my mind. A hugely dedicated woman who is not only a fantastic trainer with what she has but is also as genuinely as nice a lady as you can find.
Paul was actually quite calm when i spoke to him afterwards but i can imagine what he was like when Taj hit the front, loud fella

This was obviously an emotional day for you all and for some of us on here. Network Racing was Craig’s brainchild and a love of his and what better way than to remember him when those colours are in a winners enclosure. He is still so very missed by so many of us and it was Craig, Debs and Luke my first thoughts were with yesterday.

GH from the ones listed for me without a doubt.
Always liked him for various reasons, on the posts he makes and in the chat room. He’s as witty as they come, funny ha ha and to top it a really nice bloke too.
