And both on a Sunday.
Bugger.
January 5, 2007 at 14:04 #103212Oaklawn Park over the weekend of Feb 17/18/19-where hopefully Hard Spun will win the Southwest S. and become favourite for the Kentucky Derby.
January 5, 2007 at 22:30 #103213BTW Grayson, Big who?
Seriously, it just shows how no matter what you see sometimes, if a horse just doesn’t want to run, there’s little you can do to make him. He’s happily retired now playing about doing a bit of hunting and showjumping.
January 8, 2007 at 16:10 #103214Hopefully will be at Warwick on Saturday.
January 8, 2007 at 18:21 #103215Considering a much needed outing at Huntingdon this Friday.
January 8, 2007 at 21:45 #103216Looks like I’ll be going back to Wolves on Saturday.

January 12, 2007 at 08:43 #103218Carlisle on Sunday if it’s on.
(Was also at Musselburgh last Friday but it was so last minute I didn’t have time to write it on here!)

January 12, 2007 at 09:16 #103220About 50-50 I’ll be going to the Ampton point-to-point this weekend – all depends on some domestic arrangements. Ground still riding mostly good there despite all the recent rain, amazingly.

January 12, 2007 at 09:40 #103221Jeremy -the ground at Ampton is "Good" rather than Good.
January 12, 2007 at 14:36 #103222Yeh thanks Colin. Saw it on the Racing Admin site just after I posted. Not a massie surprise really although I am impressed that Wetherby still seems to be going ahead…
Edit…and i seems I have been roped in to go to Wetherby instead so if anyone’s gonna be there let me know.

January 12, 2007 at 16:42 #103223The Santa Anita card on March 3rd looks great Stormont. As well as the Big Cap you also get the Frank Kilroe Mile (Gr.1) on turf and a Group 2 for 3yos over 8.5 furlongs, the Robert B Lewis, which will be one of the endless prep races for the Kentucky Derby.
I’ll be at Ampton on Sunday – see you there HJ and GC (and NV?)

Ah, I getcha. Easingwold was described as "good" the last time I went a few years ago, despite being brick hard down the straight and borderline flooded near the river. Need to take armfuls of Saxo with these descriptions.
Do you know what the admission price is tomorrow, btw? £20 a pop – a la some of the southern tracks – might put paid to my participation. And I presume it’s either Mr Payne or Mr Crispe in the box? I’ve never yet heard the latter in action.

Yeah, its their biggest days racing all year and will be my first visit to the states…….. might have to introduce myself to a bit of Turfway just as a build up. Im going to Kentucky first to have a look around a few farms: WinStar, Gainseway, Three Chimney’s and maybe Lanes End if i plead with them to see Kingmambo!
Ampton, eh………. am i being stupid or is that the other side of Bury St Edmunds from Newmarket……..ive been there but a long time ago.
January 14, 2007 at 20:49 #103226GC,
It was a tenner to get in with free racecard.
7 races with small but good quality fields. ÂÂÂ
Persian Hero won the Men’s Open from Ballylusky and
Latzod’Alm. Ex Turner horse, Millenium Way, won the Ladies for Mrs C Taylor from Kent.
The ground was good to firm with some good to soft patches at the bottom of the hill. After Alex Embiricos fell off at the 2nd (coming down the hill) on Lord Valnic they ommitted the downhill fences for a couple of races (reportedly for low sun) and did the same at the cross fence in the last.
James and Steve shared Higham last week but today we got the razor sharp wit of Iain Mackenzie.
Stormont – yes, just to the north of Bury St Edmunds – much improved track.

January 16, 2007 at 21:05 #103227For all the folks going to point to points this year would you pretty please keep an eye out for a huge favourite of mine, Young Claude? The chances are he will be running oop north and i think ridden by Miles Seston and still owned by Mrs J Plummer. He was an old inmate of Peter Beaumonts (not sure these days as i haven’t spoken to my dad about YC recently) and a half brother to Young Kenny. He’s one of those horses that get under your skin and although he didn’t live up to expectations i still adore him. :cloud9:
I did ask my dad to tell Mrs P when she was finished with him to pass him along but i got wise and thought i’d leave the old rascal to someone better equipped and a good deal fitter:biggrin:
