It’s due to Win By Wings winning so comfortably yesterday, and the potential wet week in store bringing those lower in weights with proven stamina into the mix. I took the 33s yesterday on the basis of the later reason and not long after the Scottish National it was cut to 20s.
Brilliant little horse. Looked like he’d ran his race in the gold cup only to come alive again at the bottom of the hill. Won the Lexus the following year but wasn’t the same ultra-reliable horse after his gruelling gold cup win.
Doubt we’ll be seeing Shishkin until the Game Spirit. Hoping both he and Energumene are sound come March and we get a top notch race. Was disappointing when Altior and Douvan never got to go at it in a champion chase when both were on song.
2 and a half miles is clearly Allaho’s best trip. Kinloch Brae, Ryanair then the Melling Chase and avoid inadequate trips in between.
Found myself rooting for Adagio carrying all that weight as a 4yo. Smooth travelling horse who was about to throw it up to Monmiral at Aintree before stumbling at the last. I’d be interested in him for the International back at Cheltenham next month.
