Five Day Decs….
https://www.racingpost.com/racecards/11/cheltenham/2021-11-14/794909
Entries been out a wee while, but been reluctant to start a thread, as I’d already had an early bet on one who didn’t get an entry. Couldn’t face another one, so at the very least, wanted to wait until five day stage.
Of the home team, I’m not buying that run of Ballyandy at Ffos Las. He’s better than that, and no surprise to see him bounce back here, while Glory and Fortune, who won that day, just might be underrated by the market at 14’s. I give him a leading chance.
Tritonic hasn’t quite delivered, but I can see him improving for last run, and currently 10’s. I thought he’d be single figures.
It’s probably an overly simplistic approach, but for now, I’ll stick with potential Irish Raiders. They all appeal to some extent, and Jeff Kidder and Bua Boy were close to getting bet, but I finally went with one who I know fairly well, Advanced Virgo. He’s from a yard I like to follow, and if they let him come over, he’s the type that could easily figure here. Doesn’t seem too ground dependent, and though it wouldn’t surprise if he didn’t appear, I had an early, very tentative, bet. He’s best priced 14’s now, but I think that’s still ok, though I’d still like confirmation he’s going.
I’ll give it a proper look at Final Decs.
Advanced Virgo 20’s
November 9, 2021 at 09:23 #1566950I usually have a strong view on this race with leading novice hurdlers from last year top of my list. This year is slightly different, however, as i don’t rate them so highly this time around.
I have had one early swing on Galice Macalo at 33s. She showed fair form last year but did bomb out badly in the Betfair hurdle after chasing the tearaway leader and paying the price. She’s much better than that though and she looked all over the winner on recent comeback but faded after the last. It should tee her up for a good run in this. Would like to see her buried in midfield as she’s a keen going sort. Price is more than fair as i don’t see a standout plot job this year.
November 9, 2021 at 10:42 #1566951In agreement Bobby
Advanced Virgo in the Greatwood is interesting i think. Nowhere near as unexposed as some, but he seems to be coming back to himself. I reckon he’s been primed for something now back under Byrne’s care, beaten miles switched to Cathal Byrne’s he’s shown some spark back over hurdles and on the flat.
133 ain’t bad. Good ground is good. Missed bigger but 16/1 also ain’t bad.
Bua Boy has him covered on his last two hurdle runs, but BB was well supported both times which makes me think he was ready to go both times.

Hindsight is 20/20 so make the most of it!November 9, 2021 at 17:38 #1566989I don’t think that Straw Fan Jack will be a back Humber here, and I think that 25-1 is a great price for him ew.
The other one that I’ve bet is Tudor City 33-1 ew
November 12, 2021 at 13:40 #1567201My figures for this race:
152 Jesse Evans
152 Straw Fan Jack
152 Mount Windsor
152 Cormier
152 Rowland Ward
151 Galice Macolo
150 Rockadenn
150 Marie’s Rock
148 Bua BoyI don’t think I’ve had a race with five joint top since I started these figures in June 2020. I’ll pass on this one!
November 12, 2021 at 14:55 #1567222Keen to add a second to join Galice Macalo. My eye is repeatedly drawn to Bua Boy. Always handy to have an Irish raider on board these days. Less well know connections means the price is an attractive one. Added at 16/1. On last run he has the measure of Advanced Virgo. If only it were that simple!
November 13, 2021 at 13:45 #1567397I really want to add Bua Boy here, but as I said, not buying that last run from Ballyandy, and I’ve taken the 33’s.
Advanced Virgo 20’s EW
Ballyandy 33’sNovember 13, 2021 at 13:48 #1567399I’ve taken two for the win.
I think that Jesse Evans will go close, so I’ve taken the 8/1 while it’s still available, and at 28/1, I’m going with Tudor City.
November 14, 2021 at 08:55 #1567491Glory And Fortune for myself, very taken by the manner of his win in the Welsh Champion Hurdle, looked to have any amount in hand and the 3rd has come out and run a very solid race in a decent Ascot handicap the other week. Plenty of chances in here but I expected him to be in the single figures so 14/1 with 7 places is perfectly acceptable to me. Good luck all.
November 14, 2021 at 09:00 #1567493Jesse Evans and Tritonic. Ew 5 places. Noele Meade don’t normally send one over at this time too often so have to respect his horse with the claimer taking some off as well, and Alan King usually does well in this race and his one was undercooked first time out so have to respect his as well.
November 14, 2021 at 09:11 #1567494Adagio has all the weight to carry but he,s ran well in grade 1 company and had zanahyir behind at Cheltenham , that forms been franked and he looks e.w value , the ” could be anything ” horse is no ordinary Joe , won two nothing races but Henderson must think he,s upto being thrown in here with no weight
Adagio e.w
No ordinary Joe e.w
Pick 3 on Saturday champion 2025/2026
November 14, 2021 at 12:36 #1567537This is a race where I would usually like to have more than one selection, but I’m very keen on Glory And Fortune. I’ve had quite a big bet on him at 12-1 ew 7 plcs
November 14, 2021 at 12:54 #1567544Been a fan of Tudor City for a while now and had a few each way bets and now someone layed me 79/1 on the exchange. Not the greatest sign he appears to be heading towards 100/1 than what his chance appears to be.
Looks like the young FAV is well fancied but cannot understand how TC is 15 times the price at all. Given far too much to do in the Galway hurdle and met all kinds of trouble coming round the bend to finish 5th just a head behind the Meade horse. Would not of won but should of been 3 rd at least and is 4 lb better off with that one.
Maybe wishful thinking now, but certainly looks way overpriced
November 14, 2021 at 13:58 #1567562I like Glory and Fortune here. His win in the Welsh champion hurdle looked like he had room for more improvement. Also an saver on Jesse Evans.
Glory and Fortune 14/1 EW
Jesse Evans 6/1November 14, 2021 at 14:41 #1567574No clue so will try three ews
Camprond
Straw Fan Jack
Tudor CityNovember 14, 2021 at 15:03 #1567580…..Arse biscuits , had the 2nd and 3rd in a forecast , Adagio ran a stormer , pipe must be thinking about the Champion with him now
Pick 3 on Saturday champion 2025/2026
November 14, 2021 at 15:08 #1567581Really thought Adagio was going to take that coming to the last but West Cork found a lot under the forced hands and heels.
Just as well I left that race, couldn’t rate the winner with no handicap form and off the track a good while. None of my joint top 5 figured.
