I’ll take up the option and swap Kilulltagh Vic for Minella Rocco.
Thanks
Too big an ask for SDR last year. Was still only a 6 year old and had to lump 11st 12 on bad ground against some classy older horses like Smad. Must have took it’s toll as never looked the same horse for the remainder of the season.
I see Smad Place is going for a repeat bid. Should allow some of the good novices from last year like Native River and Blaklion to run with more generous weight on their back providing all goes to plan between now and then.
I like Native River also, particularly if Richard Johnson is on board as he showed what the horse was all about when ridden aggressively at Aintree. Not hard to think how well those tactics could work at a strong galloping track like Newbury where a clear cut success was recorded on last year’s card.
My ten for the new jumps season
Douvan (star horse)
Faugheen
Invitation Only
Jer’s Girl
Killutagh Vic
Native River
Robin Roe
Thistlecrack

YanworthThanks
September 28, 2016 at 21:03 in reply to: Gigginstown Remove All their horses from Willie Mullins #1265023Just goes to show you the strength of the Mullins yard when the country’s biggest racing operation can take 60 horses from him and he’s still got far and away the best string of horses in the national hunt game.
Some nice horses he’s losing but the Ricci big guns will see that he has the 2 mile championship races covered.
Sometimes I just smile and nod knowingly!!
There is such a thing as karma and MR Mullins is getting some of it back now!!
Agree with you Wex re Vautour and I said in my previous post he is a good trainer not a great one!!
Great trainers run the right horse in the right race and he obviously hasn’t done that here and on numerous occasions in the past. Annie Power springs to mind !!
Vautour should have ran in the Gold Cup not the Ryanair.
Slim chance of Djakadam beating Cue Card so he’ll end up winning neither.
Also not surprised to find out Yorkhill got beat, haven’t seen the race but looked finished for the season at Aintree
I like The Young Master for this also. His best wins came at Wincanton and Ascot last year so the return to a right handed track could be in his favour.
Also may find improvement for this stiffer stamina test, which flys in the face of his sprinter breeding I must say but longer trips look the way to go.
After much deliberation I’ve narrowed it down to three. Already had a bet on Bishop’s Road.
The other two are Gallant Oscar and Holywell. Depending what the weather does between now and Saturday tea time, I’ll be adding one of them.
One hell of a puzzle it is to try and solve each year

1.30 – Ivanovich Gorbatov
2.10 – Great Field & All Yours
2.50 – Long Dog
3.30 – Djakadam
4.10 – On The Fringe
4.50 – Squouateur NAP
5.30 – Rock The World
Cause of Causes masterclass there. I was confident having won the 4 miler he’d be strong at the finish but wasn’t expecting him to fly past them all like that. Great to watch
1.30 – Bristol De Mai
2.10 – Saddlers Encore
2.50 – Josses Hill & Taquin Du Seuil
3.30 – Whisper
4.10 – Stilletto
4.50 – Bloddy Mary
5.30 – The Giant Bolster NAP
Yanworth (Yorkhill)
No More Heroes NAP (Vyta Du Roc)
Politologue (Blood Cotil)
Felix Yonger (Special Tiara)
Josies Orders (Dolatulo)
Jaleo (Messire Des Obeaux)
Augusta Kate (Coeur Blimey)Min (Tombstone)
Douvan (Sizing John)
Morning Assembly (Kruzlinin)
Identity Thief NAP (Annie Power)
Vroum Vroum Mag (Polly Peachum)
Noble Endeavor (Southfield Royale)
Bouvrueil (Aloomono)No More Heroes
Jumping has been impeccable and has the engine to go with it.
Think I’ll back Sizing Granite each way at 25s
Hasn’t fired in two runs this year after winning the novice chase at Aintree with some authority. I fondly recall backing an out of sorts Sizing Europe for the same connections back in the 2011 champion chase before slamming Master Minded and Big Zeb at a double figure price.
Maybe clutching at straws but worth a few quid for a place
Any reason why Guess Again hasn’t had an outing this year?
I too backed him the the Sandown race last year where he was travelling so strongly I thought I was on the winner at sweet odds. The stiff finish at the end of the 3m5f got in the way though so I’d be interested dropped back in trip if all was sound with the horse.
Can’t see Ricci not wanting a runner after having it pretty much sewn up with Faugheen.
