Court Maid at 80s ew 6pl is my first bet. I’ve just gone for normal ante post rather than NRNB- she has won at Fairyhouse twice but I think the Smurfits would have bought her for Aintree. Not obviously well handicapped but she’s decent, jumps well and stays.
April 2, 2022 at 23:43 #1590915The more I look at this the more I’m attracted to longhouse poet. The classic not running over fences to protect the mark and has been running in and winning some high class races.
Stamina won’t be an issue although untested but does seem to only run when it gets really testing. That could well play out though looking at the forecast. Possibly one to hold off on until we know the likely ground 24/48 hours prior to the race.
April 3, 2022 at 00:14 #1590920After a bit of thought I’ve added Agusta Gold at 100-1 ew. Her season so far has been pretty abysmal but there were some green shoots of recovery at Down Royal last time, for all that she took a while to warm to her task, and she was only beaten a head in the Punchestown National Trial a couple of years back, giving lumps of weight. I would think she was bought for this by the race sponsor (Royal Rendezvous not having the stamina) so likely to take her place and doesn’t seem to be overly ground dependent.
April 3, 2022 at 15:53 #1590981Eclair Surf no bigger than 14’s after being 33’s yesterday. Perhaps the vibes are good that he’ll be getting in?
April 3, 2022 at 17:59 #1591000It’s due to Win By Wings winning so comfortably yesterday, and the potential wet week in store bringing those lower in weights with proven stamina into the mix. I took the 33s yesterday on the basis of the later reason and not long after the Scottish National it was cut to 20s.
April 3, 2022 at 18:33 #1591005“Wet week”?
Not according to BBC Countryfile Weather forecast for week ahead. Looks like not much rain for Aintree area.
Could all change, i know. But at the mo i wont be betting on horses because of weather forecast.
Bookies have prob already tightened up prices now on the front runners.
Any horse in top 10 of betting likely to drift slightly, i reck, come Friday or Sat morning.April 4, 2022 at 05:21 #1591075I’m keeping going in with Fiddlerontheroof but I’ve also added in longhouse poet , I’m hoping both horses lines of form with Monkfish stands them out
Pick 3 on Saturday champion 2025/2026
April 4, 2022 at 13:32 #1591118Chris’ Dream and Chatham Street Lad out:
Blaklion and Poker Party in. The latter adds little to the contest, a third de Bromhead horse with little recent form.
Death Duty first in line as no. 41. I wonder which Elliott horse (he has eight in the 40 and Gigginstown six) he’ll pull out to allow that one in?
Oh the romance of six Gigginstown, great for the game that. I hope Domaine De L’Isle, Eclair Surf and Fortescue get in for a bit of variety, but suspect they won’t now.
April 4, 2022 at 14:22 #1591123Battleoverdoyen taken out to allow Death Duty in? I wouldn’t be surprised ;o)
April 4, 2022 at 15:02 #1591128Or Samcro?
April 4, 2022 at 17:15 #1591136My current Grand National portfolio is:
Fiddlerontheroof 25/1
Burrows Saint 33/1
Two For Gold 70
Caribean Boy 40/1**Now 160 at Betfair Exchange so a truly dismal bet.

It's the "Millwall FC" of Point broadcasts: "No One Likes Us - We Don't Care"April 4, 2022 at 19:39 #1591154A right old plunge going on Snow Leopardess today.
April 4, 2022 at 20:07 #1591158She has an undeniable chance.
Hugh Joseph, a former colleague, made a good point about the Grand National to me in 1986.
He asked me what I fancied and I said “on balance, West Tip, but 8/1 isn’t much of a price.”
Hugh replied: “In any other race you’d be delighted to back an 8/1 winner, but just because it’s the Grand National people think you need double-digit odds to get value.”

At mo i’m leaning towards WIN onlys on Enjoy D’allen and Escaria Ten. Will bet nearer the day i think, as weather forecast looks inconclusive at the mo.
My each way bets already placed:
Fortescue 66s – looks like might just miss out but fingers crossed he sneaks in.
Kildisart 33s
Deise Aba 66s
Court Maid 66s
Discorama 33sTo win, already placed
Minella Times 20s
Cloth Cap 28sApril 4, 2022 at 22:57 #1591175Still sticking by my anteposts from beginning season snow Leopardess
and cloth Cap :heart
Escaria ten still in there to along with Fiddlerontheroof and my outside Top Ville BenVf x
April 5, 2022 at 05:20 #1591193There,s no gamer horse in training but I just don’t think leopardess is good enough , when she,s went it with the top stayers she,s been beaten , she loves it around these fences and I can easily see here finishing in the first 6 or 7 though
Pick 3 on Saturday champion 2025/2026
April 5, 2022 at 10:21 #1591205Snow Leopardess is a better jumper of fences now and this her second season over the larger obstacles, HDLG. Therefore despite being a 10 year old is much improved since last year’s National Hunt chase. If progressing again is Britain’s best chance.
