“Snooping?”
One does not “snoop!”
I am "The Horse Racing Punter" on Facebook

It's the "Millwall FC" of Point broadcasts: "No One Likes Us - We Don't Care"April 10, 2022 at 08:08 #1592689Waley-Cohen got a nine day ban for his use of the whip.
Is this the most pointless ban in the history of racing? Given he had already announced his retirement, he was hardly going to worry about how much he used his whip if the Grand National was on the line!
April 10, 2022 at 08:27 #1592692It would have funnier if he hadn’t announced his retirement beforehand
Steward ” due to excessive use of the whip Mr Waley-cohen were banning you for 9 days ”
SWC ” no bother mate , I’m going to retire but stick the paperwork through anyway , you want a sip of my champers , been a good day hasn’t it …..did you back any second now by any chance ?
Pick 3 on Saturday champion 2025/2026
April 10, 2022 at 08:34 #1592696He was fined £400 as well. I doubt the Waley-Cohen clan needed to organise a whip round (pardon the pun) to pay it.
April 10, 2022 at 08:38 #1592698I was on about Noble Yeats in February !!!!

I didn’t see this mentioned on here but Robert W-C has bought this horse for the son. https://www.racingpost.com/news/paul-byrne-sells-grand-national-hope-noble-yeats-to-owner-robert-waley-cohen/538068
Yes the trends are totally against it but it’s not really the race of years ago ? (See O’Leary whingeing).
Of note is that Jett who is off 147 in the GN (66/1) who was bought by Robert W-C for last years race when trained by Jessie Harrington has left Olly Murphy after one run and is being sent hunter chasing trained by Robert himself. entered at Kelso and Haydock this weekend (Bob and Co is in both races…..).
Jett stayed hunter chasing. Waley Cohen senior was determined the son would eventually win the big race and like other wise commentators on here have said I think as well that Emmet Mullins must have had a punting interest, winners all around.

No 7 year old has won since 1940. Until such a time as it happens, you are better off backing ones that might win ;o)
I’ll leave that there Mike

FInally, on a nice note I had one sherry too many Friday night, I can vaguely remember having some toasted elephants leg from the nice Iranaian lads at the end of my road. Any conversation about GN horses was forgotten until the telephone rang at ten to six yesterday evening. WIth whoops in a mixture of english and farsi it was discovered the drunken irish tipster had come good……….
April 10, 2022 at 09:25 #1592707Congratulations Jack!!
I wasn’t worrying about the National back in February but you’re right. The fact he was bought for the race for Sam to ride, that he had the best rider over National fences in the field and the second behind Ahoy Senor at Wetherby were all pointers that he had a squeak.
April 10, 2022 at 09:48 #1592712£400 quid fine, am I right in thinking that as a amateur he doesn’t get a percentage of the £500k winners prize money

April 10, 2022 at 10:04 #1592716If it is truly a sport, then the rules of the sport must have clout and the participants must observe the letter and the spirit of them. Is not to do so, cheating?
Did Waley-Cohen won by breaking the whip regulation rules? The penalty, as has been pointed out, is, in the circumstances, ineffective as he has retired.
It has been argued many times that unless the penalty for over use of the whip, or indeed the breach of other regulations is much more penal, then they will continue to be ignored. Waley-Cohen, being a multi-millionaire need not worry, of course. Other jockeys have to worry as it is their livelihood. But I wonder if the penalties for overt breaches of the rules by jockeys (who may judge a suspension worth the gain) would be much more effective if the penalties were exacted on the owners? Waley-Cohen knew that the difference between winning and losing was £250K. The amateur jockey gets no fee, but W-C’s dad is the owner.
Should amateur jockeys should be allowed to compete in the overwhelmingly professional sport? Is it just a rich person’s self indulgence?
I won’t be coming back on this comment, but I think it’s worth a thought in the tidal wave of “fairytale” headlines.
April 10, 2022 at 10:04 #1592717Correct, HDLG. Still, I’m sure his dad will sort him out with a few quid.
BTW, well done Jack! 👍
April 10, 2022 at 10:25 #1592722I don’t think either is short of a quid , love to know what they paid for the horse
Pick 3 on Saturday champion 2025/2026
April 10, 2022 at 10:29 #1592725There was a really interesting article in yesterdays Times about Noble Yeats which gave reasons why the horse could break the trends. Unfortunately I didn’t read it till last night. I stopped following newspaper tipsters when it came to finding the winner of the National after Eddie the Shoe stopped writing for the Observer. He was phenomenal.
April 10, 2022 at 13:38 #1592778Nice one Father_Jack. I was wondering who it was I was talking to about him, now I know. :o)
April 10, 2022 at 14:51 #1592795Father Jack – great stuff.
I’m hardly an admirer but kudos to Lizzie Kelly for getting the first 3 in her 4 picks.
April 10, 2022 at 14:57 #1592800Ian nothing wrong with a snoop
Pick 3 on Saturday champion 2025/2026
April 10, 2022 at 15:05 #1592804Very nice indeed Father Jack
. You saw the angle, saw that the trends are increasingly becoming defunct, and saw the value. Excellent punting.Perhaps you can lend Sam ‘Root Canal Turn’ Waley-Cohen the cash to cover his whip fine.
BUY THE SUN
April 10, 2022 at 16:07 #1592833The winner top 60 on weights day again. ;o)
April 10, 2022 at 16:19 #1592838Jack is alright.
