Galvin probably didn’t do his handicap mark much good winning that.

We are going to start him off in a Grade 3 chase at Punchestown today. He has some improvement to find to get involved in the best staying chases, so we’ll soon see where he slots in. He could be a Grand National horse someday.

    From elliot’s stable tour

I think they may well be looking at Cheltenham rather than the National at this point , only 7 they have plenty of time

On today’s win at punchestown Elliott was winning the race for a seventh time, with Galvin joining a roll call that includes his Gold Cup winner Don Cossack, who won the race twice. But the Grand National and not the Gold Cup could be more up Galvin’s street, according to Elliott, who said: “He might be more a Grand National horse. He knows how to win and he’s just a great horse to have.”

He’s beaten the 2nd and 3rd race-fit from Kerry National giving them weight, I’d say he’ll be pushing 160 after this and they might even take in the Grade 1 he’s entered in at Down Royal at the end of the month. A good showing there and the only way he’ll be running in the National would be off near enough top weight. I’d probably rather back him for a Gold Cup as a speculative EW at this stage myself.

Agree ttm, 33/1 in the gc is a better bet currently

Who wouldn’t love to see Frodon and Galvin leading the field alone while jumping the 27th in the Grand National together in five months’ time?

I wouldnt like to see Frodon in a Grand National myself. He’ll end up legless and gasping for air before the race is over imo.

As for Galvin, he’s gaining a rating that’s going to be too high to win most probably.

Can see Galvin being near top weight now to, which would put me off
I wouldn’t like to see Frodon in the national, he wouldn’t stay the trip i wouldn’t think also he like to bowl along at front he would tire as the stayers come up near the end

Yeah i think my Galvin Cross Country – Grand National double (and singles on each race) is cooked now. He’ll be near enough top weight. Gold Cup route looking more likely. Could see him being put away for it now similar to last season. Elliott doesn’t run him on heavy/proper winter ground.

I was praying Clondaw Castle wouldn’t win yesterday. Can’t stand his mark going up any more if this is going to be an option. It should be left alone after yesterday’s result. Shan Blue winning by 20 lengths could have helped drop him a couple pounds, but que sera. Connections seem to be aiming high this season with the Betfair the next likely destination, so we’ll see.

Galvin won’t be in this years GN , yesterday proved he,s worthy of a GC place , he,s starting to give me a Don Cossack vibe

I laid off my Galvin stakes right after his Punchestown win, just not their MO for a National horse. Also cashed out for Cross Country, bar my top up at 12’s, which I’m stuck with.

Topped up Escaria Ten up to 90’s, and added Time To Get Up at 25’s (Laid off)

I’ll probably add Any Second Now as well, but wouldn’t expect him to move too much.

    Edit**
    Galvin (Laid off stakes)
Time To Get Up (Laid off, small loss)

Escaria Ten 66’s EW 5 Places
    Escaria Ten 90’s
