That would tie in with what Gaz said on the Fighting Fifth thread so unless I misunderstood the timings there’s been a change of plan. From a trends point of view the Elite is not a great race for a potential champion hurdler.
I’m interested in a very speculative long ranger on Tartak of Tom George’s but cannot find a price anywhere.
I’m sure that’s telling me something

Why would you be interested in a horse for one of the seasons most competitive races after it ran such a shocker last time out?
Great ride, stalked Curlin and came down the middle like all the winners tonight (rather than chase the pace like the Coolmore horses).
Still I’m sure it was the surface that beat Curlin rather than the lack of steroids

A point made by Nick Mordin recently. http://www.nickmordin.com/usa.htm
He beat him a couple of lengths as a 2yo in the Railway Stakes, Mark.
Great piece Denis, well done! And I think you’ll give the readers a winner with African Rose; maybe they’ll have you on board permanently replacing Winstanley

He’s declared for the Melling on Friday too. That would appear the obvious race

I wonder if Tom Segal has remembered to hand his notice of resignation to his Post employers?

Is Mon Mome a definate to run? thought he was the horse of Venetias that she said was a bit too small to run in the National, but may be confusing him with another horse.
From the Sporting Life:
Venetia Williams (Mon Mome 10st 8lb, Nirvana Du Bourg 10st 2lb, Flintoff 9st 11lb, Pass Me By 9st 10lb, The Outlier 9st 7lb): "Mon Mome is the obvious one of mine who looks like he’s got a shout of running."He’s not been out this year yet but we are hoping he’ll reappear some time in the next fortnight, maybe over hurdles.
"We were thinking about the National last year, but we left it for this time. He’s got a nice mark, and a nice little chance."
I’ve backed Mon Mome at 100/1 ew with Boylesports. His form points to him needing give but his 2nd in last year’s Welsh National, amongst other good performances in staying races, puts him in the mix and 100/1 seems a massive price.
Now somebody tell me he’s injured

If you’re talking of Ken Pitterson, he does the weekly notes column in The Weekender.
Quote: from guskennedy on 9:06 am on Feb. 13, 2007[br]I hesitate to raise my head above the parapet once more but I note that In Compliance isn’t entered for this Saturday’s Red Mills Steeplechase which had been suggested as a possible target after the horse missed the Hennessy. <br>
Saturday week in the Bobby Jo chase over 3m 1f apparently.
Theatre came 2nd behind Key Timein that Goodwood race Jackane. Also tough draw to overcome from 2.
They’ve actually removed the story again.  Let’s hope they and I have jumped the gun.
edit: Definitely confirmed now:(

Clare Balding for me. Can’t stand her patronising manner.
