Coolmoore target the Derby (and win it most years) year in year out, usually with ran with pacemakers to make it a true run race, to make sure the best of the breed at that time and race wins the race as often as possible. The fact they target this far more, and far more diligently almost from their 2YO careers, than the Arc that can seem to be afterthoughts for some of the horses, tells me to the breeder the Derby is top of the list of importances.

The Arc a better class of a race tho IMO in most years – as mentioned 3YO and over, fillies, more mature and nurtured 3YO

damn it we were so, so close, had Burnley on the ropes in second half I thought, and it wouldn’t been unjust if Aberdeen had sneaked through, two close games there.

Would have truly loved it to have put it clean up the Sky Sport Fantasy football league that is the Premiership.. The amount of money floating about on dud / bang average players down there is ridiculous – £130m or so to assemble Burnley its obscene. Outwith top 6 the rest are meh

Anyway onto league business on Sunday against a certain Rangers mob –

ah well pity we couldn’t get the win our play just about deserved, especially first half. Don’t think we are out of the tie yet, we had 2 or 3 really good chances, but you would expect Burnley with another week under their belts to improve for next Thursday, fingers crossed.

lol,, haha Aberdeen is my local team (and who I’ve supported for many, many years) and live not very far at all from Stadium..

Its anything but intimidating – usually due to the freezing cold temperatures, and open / run down nature of the stands / ground (hence our need to move to new stadium) , and middle of road crowds,, BUT …. its a sell out tonight just over 20k, its roasting up in Aberdeen at the moment as with everywhere else, so should be good atmosphere.

The bookies have priced this up way, way wrong having Aberdeen at 4-1 nearly. We’ve had the same manager for 4/5 seasons now, well organized and a decent team ( 9 points behind Celtic last year in league for those that done take much notice of Scottish football).

Celtic would be strong favourites to beat Burnley over two legs and especially at home. Now i’m not claiming we are in similar mould to Celtic but we are not a mile behind them. We’ve had European experience the last few years, beating Groinegen away, Rjeka away (Croatia mob) in our results and just falling short getting to play offs each season.

We might catch Burnley off guard are they going to be full fitness yet at this stage of pre season, – I’d love it for Aberdeen to win tonight, get one up on the horrible moneybags league that is the Premiership :)

In all honesty I’d price it up 50/50 tonight, with Burnley a bit of slight favourites to go through over two legs. So the 4/1 for the dandy dynamic dazzling dons tonight is HUGE – lump on guys

    come on youuuuuuuuuuuuu reddssssss :yahoo:

oh boys relax was only in jest, weve been beaten down enugh over the years, that almost given up on international football, aimed mostly at the media change that was clearly vivid after beating the Panama that i was inferring at, not you guys :rose:

Also i stand by that Colombia are at time a very very good technical team, and just watching some of the preview it seems they have jumped on the yes easier passage to the semi final – Colombai – Sweden/ Switzerland, both winnable, but i would have colombai slight favourites – especially their midfield ability of keeping the ball could be the beating of England – tho with Harry its almost a goal of a start really

Ah well thats the English media at it again, trumpetting your lots chance,, for once in the build up to the finals it was quite reserved almost aknowledging an average team that would get out the groups and maybe get to 1/4s. us Scots werent forced into our usual stance of anyone but England, due to the media circus, along with having a fairly amiable manager it was alost bearable listening to the previews of finals

Now all of a sudden a path is plotted to the fnal due to beating Panama :) time fo the war paint on from us now again it is :mail:

, give us sweaty socks a right chortle when it eventually goes tits up

Im actually surprised at firstly bookies pricing England up as around 4/7 to beat Colombia, and the confidence that most of you lot have of beating Colombia, its very much a 50/50 match in my eyes, and would probably slightly favour Colombia if James is fit

    Got luck neighbours :rose:

I give you one of my favourites from last few years, Frankels brother Noble Mission,, late debut 2 YO,, average to half decent as 3 year old,, very similar as 4YO, then 5YO season something dropped – Doyle ran him from the front, and ended up winning the Champion Stakes in his final start, after few G1 prior must have improved near a stone from 4 to 5

Uruguay for me for team outwith favourites,, They have the Athletico Madrid defensive partnership which should mean little goals conceded, and Suaraz and Cavani upfront should mean goals, talented midfield, and fairly easy group with Russia top seed who I think are a poor team.

Should win the group the face a poor and ageing Portugese team (how on earth they won Euros i’ll never know) from quarters it’ll get tough with usual suspects awaiting – probably France looking at the draw

28/1 or so should get a good run – throw in Suarez top scorer as well at 25/1 as their group looks pretty weak and could see few goals there.

Of the favourites France looks good on paper, Brazil impressive in qualifying

Poland another outsider to do well look solid team with winnable group and could face England in last 16 which is very winnable – sadly my lot are not there again (Scotland) so its Belgium / Panama and Tunisia scarfs for me – sorry guys :mail:

Luv a bet on darts on a Thursday night -very tough now with little between a lot of players and best 12 is a sprint to these guys banging in 100+ averages,, bad leg o two and bets are down, so nothing to ever go very large on but are bets to be had to make some profits,, doing alright this season so far.

Have won a few quid backing against Wright also Steve, however as much as he has things wrong in the head at times and changes darts a lot (sometime mid games) he has been suffering with shoulder injury. He got back to a bt of form on floor event over the weekend so whilst Whitlock playing pretty steady, a back to form wright would be far too good for him,, will look up PDC floor results to check but sure I seen a story he got to later stages at weekend on social media. Wright also needing a win to avoid elimination in couple of weeks

Smith to beat Price 4/6 =- 8/11 i’ve seen is massively over priced even at odds on should be 2/5 ish – Price out of his depth here smith really improving now to fulfill his potential he showed a few years back.

Anderson / Smith / Wright treble for me tomorrow, with some action bets on Gurney v Cross – think could be really high scoring quality game with Belfast crowd urging on Gurney resurgent after last week.. MVG v Barney, depends on start could be 7-0 MVG if gets away fast and Barney gives up,, or Barney playing quite well if starts well gets a big finish in first 3/4 legs kick on and makes a game of it

drop the Ballymore / Sun Alliance hurdle,, surely no Corm,, look at the list of winners of that,, since ive been following racing its almost a whos who of racing certainly in the late 1990s . 00s -tho some had bad luck with injuries and would have undoubtedly been top class – don’t think ever after the race it is a poor one that wins this one

    Istabraq
    Barton
    French Holly
    Hardy Eusatace
    Monsignor
    Simonsig
    Faugheen
just of top of my head

    now Samcro

I like the Ryanair aswell – big stretch from 2m to 3m 2f,, whilst I can see the arguments to beef up QM and GC

Mares Novice is waste of time, Fred Winter aslo, Cross Country entertaining but not championship racing,, would have these 3 gone first long before the ones mentioned

taking Kauto out of these examples as he was a freak by recent examples for longevity,, Kicking King never made it back to Cheltenham I don’t think after his gold cup season, and only won a poor King George from MOnkerhostein,, and War Of Attrition I also think never made it back and won anything or much of note post Gold Cup win.

Its a race down the years that really really takes it out of a horse, and we were blessed in era to have Kauto / Denman / Imperial Commander / Exotic Dancer and Neptune Collognes / long Run rocking up for a few years.

Im a huge both Native river and Might Bite fan,, but I really think that race is going to take a hell of a lot of getting over – would be folly to run either again this year IMO

surely just do the Sky Bet offer in the Supreme money back if horse loses,, as opposed to money back if Getabird wins GoldenMiller

Can see a turn up here, heavy going, big field,, will have couple of darts at bigger prices with Sky for no risk bet see if can get a price in to kick of the festival

oh the old boy had me jumping up and down at the TV on Saturday, looked back to really enjoying himself and jumped really, really well,, just beaten by a very good improving younger horse.

Gold cup for me with him,, give him another chance at it,, outwith Might Bite I think lot of much and a muchness in the gold cup, Ryanair with Un De Sceuax in it they could cut each others throats up front

Gold cup probably wont win it, but place possibilities and 33/1 available more than fair

But god if he could win it :yahoo: we can but dream

Vautour i’m not a fan of these “Stats” that are rolled out every year to try point out winners at the festival,, when you scratch surface of them its easy to see the flaws, or where they have been made to look goo to fit the race, I used to read so many of them pointing to so many races as narrowing down the field,, I now ignore them mostly

For instance on your ruled out list / or previous winners lit

Killultagh Vic fell last when probably going to win in Ireland,, where is that any worse a prep than Don Cossack falling the King George in his year when probably not going to win

Native river, won fairly soft race on comeback, but I believe was always been held back to be fresh for Gold Cup one run one win gold cup , Bobs Worth similar one run long layoff after Hennessey straight to gold cup

Coneygree – was 3 novice chases was it,, the lack of Novices running in Gold cup would have this one as an outlier,, if a novice was good enough to go Gold Cup you would expect a line of wins next to his name given company it would have ran in

Just something to bear in mind when reading any Stat pointers

for what its worth Native River is the most solid one off the field I feel at the moment,, but would love to see the enigmatic, Might Bite run them into the ground
