MVG is machine like superstar and I fully expect him to go close again but funny things happen in sport and I’ve had a couple of nuggets on two outsiders with a contrast in styles. Klaasen on his day is good, this will be tough for him as not all players help his quick game but the odds stood out. Suljovic plays in his own time and is capable of mixing it with the big players. They are both in the same quarter and it’s a tricky one with MVG awaiting the semi’s

December 13, 2017 at 13:53 #1331826ROB CROSS 16/1
Has decent draw here and the most improving player of the year no idea what price he was at start of the year must been in 3 figure range. And think he make his mark here
December 14, 2017 at 10:40 #1331925I have backed GURNEY at 40/1 and WRIGHT at 12/1 each way.
Gurney is a bit of a punt considering he is in MVG half of the draw but Wright is overpriced as he has only Anderson to beat to get to final IMO!!
December 15, 2017 at 22:54 #1332175I wouldn’t say Phil Taylor was exasperated but had Dolbey taken that 4th set it could well of been heading that way

December 16, 2017 at 20:28 #1332517Always a decent bet in the early rounds.
I do a daily Yankee. Some will be handicap betting and some will be most 180s in the match.
I’ll probably add a bet or two to this thread if I remember. Backed nobody outright though (what’s the point when it’s more likely than not that MVG just wins easily)
December 17, 2017 at 09:37 #1332579I tend to agree with that MOM. I’ve done MVG in a few multiples including Samcro for Cheltenham, I know you like him.
I think Anderson at his best could give MVG a run for his money but he’s had a tricky year with personal problems. The outright market is a betting opportunity to green up as the rounds go on if one was feel incline to do so. My longshots were to very small stakes for a bit of interest so I won’t be doing that but have done so in previous years to mixed success and failure

December 17, 2017 at 21:48 #13327358 – 180’s, done by the underdog winning 3-0 was expecting a 3-1 or 3-2 either way

December 18, 2017 at 19:47 #1332859Sickener that one Nathan. I would definitely have expected at least 4 sets. Bet would have hosed in with another set.
Left the outright well alone. Sadly I don’t think he will but I’d absolutely love to see Taylor do it. I think somebody needs to do the dirty work on MVG for him to have a chance. Even then there are a few who would certainly fancy their chances unlike they would have even a few years ago.
Don’t know what it is but darts is probably my worst sport of the ones I punt on (and that’s saying something
) so I may chime in with the odd acca after xmas. But avoid them like the plague!December 22, 2017 at 21:50 #1333521Over 12.5 180’s in MVG and Wilson game 11/10

December 22, 2017 at 22:54 #1333531I fancied Gary Anderson at 7/1. He has had problems but he is one of the very few who could outscore Van Gerwen when on his game.
Peter Wright always seems to go through patches of scores where he can’t hit the treble for love nor money. All the farting about with different sets of darts is a big mistake in my opinion. It exposes a weakness to his opponents and without that maximum confidence in one set of darts, you can never have maximum confidence in yourself.
Wright has come a long way but he needs Psychological coaching if he ever want’s to be the world’s best player. Phil Taylor used to waffle on about never exposing weakness and never lunging a dart at the board in anger and wasting it. However he fired off wasted darts just as much as anyone else and the biting of the flights when feeling under pressure was something I noticed very early in his PDC days.
I often wondered about Adrian Lewis taking advice from Keith Deller and I have rarely seen a player going down the pan as rapidly as Jackpot. James Wade is another whose problems lie in his attitude.
Gary Anderson is not one of the game’s great thinkers but he has probably one of the best and natural throwing actions in the business. He should have won the BDO version many times but used to crack and exit early. He freely admitted to being on the drink too much in his earlier days and if he were a little stronger mentally and applied himself better he could be the one to take Mighty Mike off the pinnacle of invincibility.
For all Taylor’s success, I don’t think he is either a nice person, nor a true sportsman. He accused Van Gerwen of being a “Mardy Arsed loser” but nobody is a poorer loser than the power and anyone who had a dartboard and Tutankhamen inspired figurines in the same sitting room has questionable taste. He boasted recently that there would not be a PDC were it not for him. Funny how people forget that they were charged with indecent assault, found guilty and find, also that they went through a messy divorce.
Phil Taylor may “have the power” but it’s his ex-wife who has five houses, 65% of their combined pensions and £830,000 lump sum, with a £6000 a month allowance in addition. I reckon she won that match up.
Gary Anderson for me this year. Good luck to all.
Thanks for the good crack. Time for me to move on. Be lucky.
