Missed Al Zir’s win at Doncaster yesterday. I did try to find it on Racing UK but it wasn’t shown.
Bugger!
September 7, 2009 at 19:58 in reply to: Timeform give Sea The Stars a 140 Rating provisionally #247745I’d say that a 138 rating seems fair at this stage. IMO, Sea The Stars needs to win the Arc or BC to earn 140.
But really, the Timeform ratings are somewhat laughable in some areas.
I think a lot will depend if Sea The Stars wins his next race. If he does, then I’d say he’s a serious contender to be the best since Dancing Brave.
Peintre Celebre, Dubai Millennium, Nashwan and Zarkava were tough nuts … but the former and latter were both impressive Arc winners. Mind you, in an alternative 2008 Arc, I’d loved to have seen how Zarkava would’ve coped with Peeping Fawn and Montmartre

Without Sea The Stars, Fame And Glory would be unbeaten and probably be hailed as some kind of superstar

But really, Sea The Stars is fantastic and owns MCM and FAG
Thing is, he has
won on soft-to-heavy going. The Arc or Breeders Cup will be the final acid test for him but, in his current form, he could beat anything that’s around today.
Brilliant horse!
A penalty kick for Delegator…. and he’s facing a makeshift goalkeeper, who’s actually a striker…. hic!

An anagram of Delegator is
deter goal

At the start of the 2009 flat season, Zacinto (along with Crowded House) were my fancies for the 2000 Guineas. Unfortunately, they didn’t run but I do feel that both could’ve made a huge impact on the race.
Now that Zacinto is back and has had a recent run, I feel fairly confident that he can beat Delegator. I think it will be a tough match for both of them but Zacinto looks a better fighter whereas Delegator comes across as one that gets ‘worried’ out of a finish.
I have to give you a Hmm! too Rob

While you could prove to be right about Zacinto how on earth do you work out that Crowded House would have had any sort of impact on the result in the 2000 guineas?. His win over Jukebox Jury is about 2 stone below what Sea the Stars has achieved and he’s obviously not trained on. They might get a win out of him but not while horses like StS and the OAB trio are around.
Whether Crowded House has trained on or not, I suppose the jury is still out on that one. He ran disappointingly in the Dante and, to me, appeared not to stay in the Derby.
I felt that Crowded House would’ve made an impact in the 2000 Guineas because he was proven at a mile and the way he left Jukebox Jury for dead in the RPT, he looked in a different class altogether. I’m at a complete loss as to why the trainer didn’t run him in the 2000 Guineas … when he certainly had the chance to! Let’s face it, if AOB would’ve trained Delegator and CH, he’d have ran the two of them in the Guineas.CH will never beat STS and the AOB trio now since they’ve all progressed nicely with their racing whilst CH has gathered rust

I loved Raven’s Pass. Just when he peaked, he was gone

When I first heard that Canford Cliffs was going for the Morny, I felt that it was a strange choice of race. I do think some horses feel alien going to other countries to race.
Like others on here, I too am gutted that CC was beaten but he does appear to have shot a blank. It’s way too early to write him off and I hope he’ll bounce back.
I rate Sea The Stars more highly than I did with Zarkava this time last year. In my opinion, I thought Zarkava was a bit overrated.
At around 3:30 PM tomorrow, there’s going to be a big bang heard … from all of those MCM supporters dropping back down to Earth!

I think it is impossible to convert someone to love a sport that they’ve never liked. I can’t stand Cricket and nothing will ever change my mind to love it.
Actually, I think our love for certain sports is influenced by what we’ve gone through during childhood with a bit of help from our parents, mainly our Dads. This may sound a bit potty but, thinking back as far as I can remember, the first toys I played with were animal models whereas my younger brother always played with cars (he loves F1) and my older brother liked kicking balls breaking the odd window (he adores Football). Throughout these early years, we competed against each other with our toys and, every weekend, my dad would have World Of Sport on the TV to watch the ITV seven. Now, I strongly believe my love for Horseracing was initiated due to these factors and circumstances that were amalgamated into my psyche.
When families visit racecourses (whether they like racing or not) I do feel that, at least, one of their kids may develop a genuine interest in Horseracing.
The only way Mastercraftsman can beat Sea The Stars is if they run in boggy ground at the Curragh

It’ll take a horse with an exceptional turn of foot to beat Sea The Stars.
I can’t see him losing this one. I’m just gonna sit back and watch him dissolve away his challengers

I find that when there are multiple meetings (let’s say 4 or more), I get confused by what horses to bet on. My judgement goes to pot and I end up changing my mind on bets. Bugger!

Seems we have another crackerjack to look forward to in the form of Al Zir (at Newmarket yesterday). He made the running, quickened away effortlessly at the furlong pole and won easing down by 4 lengths.
OK, newcomer races are, most times, hard to evaluate but this horse looks very good indeed. Actually, if you take Al Zir out of that race, the second horse, Awesome Act, would’ve won by 3 and 1/2 lengths.
I’m already beginning to anticipate what the Dewhurst is going to be like this year

Alwaary stepped up and looks to be improving so 8-1 for the Leger looks an e/w steal.
Alwaary is the one that has gone into my notebook from the race. I thought he ran a blinder and looks to be learning fast. He’ll be getting better. I can see him staying in training as a 4 Y O.
