Cheap shot Reet Hard – the two comments you have quoted were clearly a different context.

Brian Meehan didn’t think he needed Crowded House at Newmarket, Rob. If memory serves, Jamie Spencer, when asked if Crowded House would go for the Guineas, simply replied ‘why would he, we’ve got Delegator’.
As for tomorrow’s race, Delegator’s form is in a different parish to Zacinto’s and even allowing for improvement from the latter he’s going to have to go some to topple the latest Godawful recruit.
If the ground is good or better, Delegator wins.
August 29, 2009 at 01:07 #246299The reason Crowded House never ran in the guineas is because Delegator
was working all over him on the gallops back in the spring! On more than one occasion Delegator went past Crowded House as if he was stood still! Crowded House was originally the stables number 1 for the race until Delegator showed just how good he was! Connections thought Delegator would win the Guineas and were amazed Sea the stars beat him! Delegator "Should" be a racing certainty,if he is 100% fit (he does have bigger fish to fry in the future mind!) in tomorrows Celebration mile! I hope he wins on the bridle! Even Money! he should be 1/2fav!August 29, 2009 at 01:26 #246300

Take it personally if you wish PC – I was merely pointing out that Delegator has a very poor win record.
Fwiw, for all he seems miles in front of these on form, I’d bet good money he doesn’t find it easy tomorrow.August 29, 2009 at 04:47 #246309my fancies for tomorrow –
Delegator – No STS or MCM in this race and with respect to Zacinto he should win
Full Mandate – Hannon on form and can improve further since last run.
Mourilyan – Dissapointing last time but that was against a group 1 horse (Kite wood) ran well here last time and can go close.August 29, 2009 at 05:59 #246310

Seems odd a horse who they said was fine but was missing the Guineas to go for another race ends up running like a cow despite having a bit more time to get fit. Anyway agree on the price don’t know about 1/2fav but he should be odds on if the ground remains good.
August 29, 2009 at 07:41 #246312A penalty kick for Delegator…. and he’s facing a makeshift goalkeeper, who’s actually a striker…. hic!
August 29, 2009 at 11:37 #246320I’m siding with the improving Zacinto.
Gambling Only Pays When You're Winning
August 29, 2009 at 12:55 #246328Beacon Lodge huge price IMO.
Anyone else going to the course?

An anagram of Delegator is
deter goal
August 29, 2009 at 17:29 #246372Elate Gord!
August 29, 2009 at 18:23 #246377I don’t know what Adam Kirby was doing on Beacon Lodge…
Held up last of what must have been a pretty slow pace, waits for everyone else to kick for home before deciding maybe to earn his fee….most infuriating.

Goal!!!!!
August 29, 2009 at 20:09 #246384Very impressive win by Delegator. Zacinto ruined any chance he had by pulling hard early, but it wouldn’t have made much difference. The QE2 is looking exciting isn’t it!!

Nice win as expected by Delegator but take on Rip Van Winkle in the QEII? After the way Rip Van Winkle won last time I wouldn’t back Sea the Stars to beat him never mind Delgator.
Ordnance Row finished way too close for my liking and too much was expected of Zacinto who was after all trying to step up to Group 2 class from a listed race win against a handicapper.
We also have the same problem with these two as we have with Sea the Stars and Fame and Glory in the sense it must be doubtful Delegator will turn up if the ground is on the soft side of good or worse.
August 30, 2009 at 01:56 #246407Not saying your wrong Gord but it’s my guess if the truth be known Crowded House wasn’t right in himself and we just weren’t told.
You are quite right Fist, the fact is Delegator improved more than people/connections realised over the winter,he had the physique and scope to do that, unfortunately Crowded House never had the scope to improve physically and their work on the gallops reflected that! I personally dont think Crowded house has improved at all since last year and cant see any particular target that i would fancy him in!
August 30, 2009 at 03:07 #246409Using Beacon Lodge as form, Delegator needs to step up if connections want to take on Rip van Winkle, imo Zacinto and his participation was hyped way too much, and Delegator rightly in the formbook put him in his place, but I’d be on Rip Van Winkle’s side if they were to square off in the QEII.
On the QEII, I expect Goldikova and Rip van Winkle to be the winner, and its shaping up to be a magnificent renewal.
