No one worried on Silviniaco Conti that Jacob would rather ride Al Ferof ahead of SC in a Grade 1??
One thinks Al Ferof has trained on really well for him to miss the best Betfair Chase om paper ever.
Hard to look past Bobs Worth for me.
I would agree that Bobs Worth is deffo not an easy horse to train this could be an advantage for this season however, he is very lightly raced still unlike other GC winners, which should help him here, cant see him being beat.
Invictus would be interesting though, have to see how he does at Newbury.
Doesn’t really help the handicapper when they go that slow, and finish so close together.
Think I’d rather side with the French Derby winner than the English one, Intello looks very decent, seems to have more ability than Ruler Of The World imo.
When you get a farcical tactical race usually the best jockey will be up there, seen it today with Buick and Moore today.
Would of maybe been nicer if Libertarian got there with how Joseph O’Brien did his best to make The Derby a slow plodding race.
Although at least the winner was the only one who seemed to quicken like a good horse there, whether he is Arc standard though I dont know.
Joseph O’Brien always kept on looking back in the race, I noticed.
Probably the worst Derby ever to be ran, tactics wise it spoiled the race, just looked like a bunch of slow horses battling it out in a slog, was not good to see. Clocking almost at 2:40, ridiculous.
1. Dawn Approach
2. Battle Of Marengo
3. LibertarianFri: 20c Dry Sat: 18c Sunny.
Derby Day will almost certainly dry up.
I’d be very very surprised of the ground is good to soft on Derby day, Good is way more likely and will probably race on the fast side of good come Derby, warm days Friday and Saturday. No more rain expected I don’t think either.
Battle Of Marengo has done very little wrong, and looked like he had more in the locker in the Derrinstown. Any rain would aid his cause as he looks to have an abundance of stamina and it would be against the favourite. However, he’s short enough at the moment and although I respect his chances I won’t be getting involved at the moment at that price.
Battle of Marengo, sure O’Brien wanted fast ground for him, I think The Derrinstown, I would agree he won easily to my eye, think many people have been fooled into a negative perspective of him due to his laid back manner, a lot of Derby horses have been like that.
Still its going to be hard to beat Dawn Approach isn’t it, seems the most likely winner but I’m not a 1/1 man in a Derby, will chance with BOM. Think its a two horse race if Magician is indeed a non runner.
Magician taking a walk on Betfair, looks like a NR to me?
Heard they told staff not to talk to anyone about the incident in hope it wouldn’t reach the papers, some despicable people in the betting industry.
Looks of it Magician looks to be a runner this point, think they must rate Battle Of Marengo really high though, looks a afterthought for Magician but saying that it is only cause he was so good in the Guineas, should look good for him in 1m2f G1s.
10 years, from what I gather a £10 profit? Don’t know all of it.
Opinion, actually held back at Lingfield, Telescope looks no way near fit enough for a Epsom Derby, probably going to use it as a prep run for The Curragh.
Gotta think though the Derrinstown looks the stronger trial than the Dante though with Bolger I think sending his 3rd horse to York, that said I would love to wage on Libertarian if there is a match bet with Ocovango, that horse surely is a place lay, only seems to be high in the betting cause of Pour Moi and they have no similar type of profile at all, Ocovango seems a Gold Cup type, and would probably need mud to play any sort of part at Epsom.
