what does it mean when a horse swishes its tail? is it a good or bad sign?

Can be seen as good or bad, if they continue to swish after being hit, it means there telling the jockey this is the fastest I can go.

If it is only one swish, they don’t want to go any faster, or the whip actually hurt them.

These records bug the hell out of me. It’s been a million years since a 5 year old won the CH, no 5 year old has ever won the QMCC.

did masterminded not win the QMCC aswell numnuts?

Thats what he was getting at I think

It would be nice to think Flame and Glory could become a champion of champions and remain unbeaten, win the Derby, the Arc and plundering the USA but he doesn’t give me the impression he is a wonderhorse.

    .

I really can’t see what else Fame and Glory can really do for you to change your opinion, I have to say your views on the horse have baffled me, the only way surely would to have put another length in and smash the Derrinstown record on Good ground.

Sea The Stars is deffo the danger to him, and Oxx can spoil the Coolmore party, but I’d see Fame And Glory smashing Gan Amhras all over the park at Epsom anyday, but I’d be on the view that Sea The Stars won The Guineas with a tremendous amount in hand.

Fame And Glory (Fast by 0.6s)
Black Bear Island (Slow by 2.54s)

Both on the same ground, think Fame and Glory ran on Good, where Black Bear Island ran on the firmer side of Good.

Thats ok then because he failed to win the Craven!

Dr Devious remember him went to Kentucky after it didn’t do much came back and won The Derby, I cant like I’m 25.

Sans Frontieres is indeed the one to take out the race.

Ran on very well near the finish and looked like he may have a bit more pace over the extra 2f than Freemantle and Black Bear Island from first viewing.

One negative is that theres no money (other than at 100/1) queing up for him on Betfair. Have rumours emerged that he might not run?

I think Dante also rans have an abysmal record in the Derby, 0% i think unless it has improved a little since i lost interest.

    Yeh 0% is correct.

Trials where horses failed to win but won The Derby

    Feilden (1994)
    Craven (1992)
    Ballysax (2000)
    Sandown Classic Trial (1997)
    2000 Guineas (2008)
    Kentucky Derby (1992)
    Chester Vase (1990)
    Irish 2000 Guineas (2008)

Crowded House didnt stay to me, so why they are going to the Derby is beyond me, he obviously gets the mile better, but obviously Delegator is their number 1 choice for 1m. Spencer was quoted I think saying Delegaator was the best horse in Meehan’s yard and its been proved imo.

Anyone who has backed Sea The Stars, Gan Amhras and Rip Van Winkle will have some confiedence in their antepost bets after Monitor Closely’s great effort today, a real work horse who gave as much as he got, I think PCH will try his luck in The Derby with him too and should give a respectable effort, think he can take a few Group 3’s.

Timewise this Dante wasn’t setting the world alight.

    Motivator SFT 2’16
    Septimus SFT 2’17
    Authorized GD-SFT 2’11
    Tartan Bearer – GD-FM 2’09
    Black Bear Island GD-FM 2’11

The best Derby Trial by far has been Fame and Glory excluding obviously the 2000 Guineas, there should be no doubts really about Fame And Glory he surely must be guranteed a place at best, with him being Coolmores only Montjeu in the race probably, they are not going to mess this fellow around one would think.

I’d chance Washington Irving who looks a smart horse when on his form, whether he is good enough for this is a big ask but I’d prepare to take his value at present.

Apprently the poor thing didn’t take well to being gelded.

The Guineas form has worked out very well as has The Craven form Sans Frontiers placing and Glass Harmonium improved a great deal since that run.

Hills pair were a massive flop and has showed how a great week can be turned around just like that, every Hills’ horse has flopped this week.

Crowded House, looks like Meehan is going to persist and to me he didn’t stay so I think he would be wasting his time.

Think only John Oxx can stop O’Brien at Epsom.

Derby Days ad slogan should be "When The Curragh comes to Epsom."

Bookmakers are in a tricky situation and probably are not going the right way about it.

The Gambling Comission now makes the law for bookmakers and what acts they must enforce.

    RULE 3

To Protect Children and Vulnerable People being harmed or affected by Gambling.

Where they need to enforce staff to challenge suspected people under the ages of 21 to be asked for identification.

If they don’t ask then the license holder is at risk from jail and having certain shops shut down who fail to live up to the acts.

To be honest if the Gambling Commission are prepared to employ plants then surely they can emply security or forcee bookmakers to use them.

I was wrong about Sariska, she is defintely lived up to Bell’s hype before the race, it would have gave me more confiedence over Leocorno who I backed antepost as the winner is by Pivotal and both have staying dams, shame for me Leocorno looks a NR currently.

Looks like Pivotal is useful in stayers if bred right.

High Heeled was a massive disappointment and hopefully the ground was an excuse otherwise the form of the Lingfield Derby trial takes a knock in some aspects.

TAPK, who rode Galileo, High Chapparal and Dylan Thomas in the Derrinstown?

Red, i know Heffernan rode Galileo, because it was the only time he rode him! Are you suggesting Johnny will ride Fame or glory in the Derby or
Black bear island, or even Masterofthehorse, he wont ride any of them if they send Rip Van Winkle!

Thats a pretty speculative comment to make and is pure fabrication talk, Rip Van Winkle hasn’t shown the ability that Fame and Glory has clearly shown, I would think your downplaying Fame And Glory to boost your own view.

And the way Fame And Glory has gone the way only a O’Brien Epsom Derby winner has gone, although not saying it won’t change but I thought your comment was pretty ludricous.

Even with Rip van Winkle he closed down Delegator for sure and Gan Amhras but the gap to Sea The Stars certainly did not, and I’d rather be on the top two of the betting than any other till the Dante proves otherwise cause Rip Van Winkle and Gan Amhras will find it hard to reverse the Newmarket form.

And sorry for bringing in a trend here he certainlty fails on a form stand point losing 3 of his starts in the run up with a 2nd, 4th and 5th. Fame And Glory is unbeaten, Sea The Stars unbeaten in 3 starts, history does not look kindly on Rip Van Winkle. 6 out the last 8 have won before going in, 2/8 came 2nd.

Good luck in your ante post bet as you have probably backed him.

I’ve backed Sans Frontieres both for tomorrow and for The Derby, just in case he does well at York.

Think you could of asked for a double enaged bet their to enhance the odds a bit.

Anyways I’m with Redwood here, even after High Heeled flopped today, he looked a nice colt from day one and think he is worth a point at his odds.

I would hazard a guess that Ladbrokes have more liabilities on Sea The Stars, wouldn’t be ssurprised that 3/1 would be snapped up by the end of tomorrow.
