So, Grasshopper, do I take it that you would not factor in whether to back a horse in foal?
I think if you ask any female who suffers badly with PMT they will admit that at that particular time their co-ordination, mood, reflexes, thinking, judgement etc. will be affected. I speak from experience.
Boxed in on the rails and denied a run. Now down £5.
Sherjawy £2.50 e/w 2.15 Kempton @ 6/1
Have you done a stats. analysis, Fist? Might be interesting to see if you’re improving with age. Seems fairly consistent to me.
Following a review of things I tend to think I’ve handcuffed myself by restricting bets within a certain price range. Several times this week I’ve missed ‘good things’ only to find that they’ve been outside my odds criteria. Consequently, I’ve decided to open up the price range. In future I’ll just go along with my judgement regardless of the odds. In terms of stake, this will also be revised to include any amount up to a maximum £5 on any one bet but with the aim of winning at least £5. Any winnings over £5 will still go into the reserve pot.
That’s it – complete wipe out. It’s back to scratch, another day. Rome wasn’t …….. I don’t expect overnight riches. Considering I’ve only had three bets this year and it’s not cost me anything I’m quite pleased because on past form I’d be quids down by now. At the moment I’m just lulling Ladbrokes into a false sense of security.
"The reserve pot to be used to bolster any shortfalls…" Therefore I’ve decided it can be used outside of normal criteria.
It’s £1.25 to win on Regal Angel @ 4/1Should have given it a miss. C’est la vie. So we’re now back to Column One. Still got £1.25 in the reserve pot. Might have a re-think on the rules and consider whether reserve pot can be used on horses outside the normal criteria.
I’ve taken evens Neuchatel but probably been impatient. £5 on Column2
I appreciate that to overcome the frost they had harrowed more than usual but from a visual impression it reminded me of those races seen at Aquaduct where they are running through the slush.
Can the powers that be that oversee racing to ensure the sport is free of skullduggery, honestly say that today they were able to see every nuance of every race and have that documented on video? If not, then racing should not have gone ahead.
I suppose I was thinking more about the thousands of punters faced with grey screens at home. Perhaps I’m on my own in wishing to see the particular point in the race at which my money goes down the drain. To not be able to see the race in its entirety is, to me, a pointless exercise. You might just as well invest your money in a fruit machine or a scratch card. Surely it’s not just about outcomes, isn’t it more about being able to see how the race unfolded, tactics, etc.?
Apologies all round everyone and especially Craig. Senility is beginning to take its toll on my memo……
Dave C. from ATR informed me last night that Mark Johnson is going for a commentator’s job in the States. Is he likely to be competing with you, Craig?
Are you the same Craig Biddick who writes poetry in the Deep South forum or the rich-looking Craig Biddick pictured here http://www.ranchandcoast.com/october200 … rings.html
??
I only ask because I was wondering how coming over here next winter would fit in with your possible new career, Craig? If you get that new job you’re after will that just be seasonal?Congratulations, a 16/1 and 20/1 and shorter. Excellent.
