Gamble: Fair question please? Is it the City smog of London or the North Sea breezes that have been most influential in opening up your mind to such feasts of imagination?
Certainly not Pompete, you appear to be riding quite high up the league table. My thread was prompted out of fear of my opponents and seeking ways to have them disqualified. All’s fair in love and Bob’s comps.
Aragorn: Impressed with your almost poetic sentence. Certainly the words of a well read scholar and gentleman. Cheers.
On the BBC World Service last night there was a guy explaining that all digital services and software on the internet will eventually be free, not just along the lines of ‘buy one get one free’ as with supermarkets, but actually at zero cost to the individual. This is because those service providers will be able to generate their income via other means (e.g. advertising). Therefore volume of consumers using the service will be more important than the loss of potential income from those people. It sounds to me as if the racing channel mentioned in this thread are dipping their toes in the water to test this out so any current subscribers will, eventually I believe, get their racing coverage without charge. Rather than complain, at this stage, you’d probably be best encouraging everyone you know to use the free Saturday service so that they extend it throughout the week.
If you are not a racegoer, I think there’s some terminology that you often hear from the SIS commentators pre-race, especially when it comes to two year old races. For example, "Looked a bit backward in the ring" or "looks as though it’ll come on for the run" .
I would imagine other posters might know of a few other comments.Given your location David, I would have thought you were more aware than most about how people can be sympathetic towards causes they believe to be fighting injustices, and equally sensitive about terminlogy which attempts to ridicule their religion or demean thir culture.
David, I hope you haven’t presented Cormack with a dilemma, having only last evening removed a member from the forum for using astericks.
I suppose his biggest crime was having a bet in Ladbrokes, of all places. His ranting was mis-placed. But then again, perhaps not, because if he spends £2,000.00 in there he’ll be entitled to a free £20 bet. Now that’s what I call value for money.
Sorry Cormack. I now realise we already acknowledge Forum rules:-

Yes, I agree, there was some potential there.
Rory asked about pre-posting vetting. Pehaps new members should be obliged to read and agree the forum rules before receiving their confirmation email.
Mostly, I detest censorship, but I have noticed that on those boards where posters have free reign to use whatever language they choose, there also tends to be an excess of personal abuse.I think it was diplomatic language at its most excellent, by Cormack.
Instead of saying that a rubbish worker had been sacked, I used to say that, they had been encouraged to use their skills in an environment more appropriate to their talent.
Dear Cormack, I thought the guy brought a touch of class to the forum. Not.
However, in the circumstances, your swift action is to be applauded. There are far too many forums on the internet where gross profanities ruin the content for too many people and deter younger people from enjoying the main aim of those boards. He should resign his commission in the Army with immediate effect for using the terminology ‘PAKI’ and ‘RAGHEAD’. This language is completely unacceptable from a modern day Royal.
To quote a certain Scotsman, sadly departed, "Bob’s competition is not just a game. It’s life and death for some people."
With apologies for wordplay, Bill.Yes, fair comment. I apologise profusely to all female jockeys and women of the World. I was in the wrong. Put it down to me having a bad day in Bob’s Competition, my System going in deficit, as well as Nurse being late with my medicine.
Good point David, but I don’t think he’s stupid either. He was probably taking his lead from Hayley. Mistake.
Sorry, Halfwaytoheaven, can’t agree it was stupid. Please see my thread PMT.
