I think it was diplomatic language at its most excellent, by Cormack.
Instead of saying that a rubbish worker had been sacked, I used to say that, they had been encouraged to use their skills in an environment more appropriate to their talent.
January 11, 2009 at 03:47 #203108I dropped into a bookies to watch the Dewhurst a cpl of years back. One punter had been tipped off that a Ballydoyle blue blood was going well at home, the horse was ‘expected to piss in – O’Briens words not mine… ‘ and he had placed the crown jewels on it accordingly.
After watching the horse place second, he was then dually informed that K.Fallon was ‘only a crook’, ‘the race was fixed’ and ‘Fallon probably lost on purpose’….
Presumably contrary to his natural demeanor, he started showing signs an increased agitation with his current surroundings , he proceeded to gracefully put a stool through a television monitor, then jog off the premises stating the he was ‘finished with this gambling ****’

No it’s not. He said "Hard On". Fnar.
January 11, 2009 at 04:06 #203111The Arthur Askey line was actually well observed and delivered, I’d’ve kept him for that alone.
January 11, 2009 at 04:30 #203114Obviously I don’t know what went on behind the scenes but on the basis of 8 posts to-date, bit harsh to delete him IMO – could have just got a warning about the langage.
January 11, 2009 at 04:31 #203115Yes, I agree, there was some potential there.
Rory asked about pre-posting vetting. Pehaps new members should be obliged to read and agree the forum rules before receiving their confirmation email.
Mostly, I detest censorship, but I have noticed that on those boards where posters have free reign to use whatever language they choose, there also tends to be an excess of personal abuse.January 11, 2009 at 04:33 #203116What rules? I haven’t read any.

You’re out then!

January 11, 2009 at 04:56 #203122I suppose his biggest crime was having a bet in Ladbrokes, of all places. His ranting was mis-placed. But then again, perhaps not, because if he spends £2,000.00 in there he’ll be entitled to a free £20 bet. Now that’s what I call value for money.
January 11, 2009 at 06:15 #203140As summary dismissals go, that was impressively quick.
Seems the new Remington Troll-Away ™ that Mrs Corm bought our hero works pretty well, then.

temporarily in the land of OHHHHJanuary 11, 2009 at 15:42 #203184Perhaps the next time the guy should try the more friendlier approach.
January 11, 2009 at 17:30 #203205Anyone who swears and is abusive should be banned.
As for his opinions, it’s the "I can’t make a profit so the game must be bent" syndrome.
He had no idea.

Value Is EverythingJanuary 11, 2009 at 18:53 #203227If you take out the swearing it was actually quite a good post.
I didn’t realise that they still had tipsters at the racing post, so there you go, I learnt something if no-one else did.

He’s probably already decided football, golf, snooker, tennis, darts are bent too as he couldn’t make money on those either, lol!
