TB will get absolutely walloped in the King George. I type this message in an emotive, semi-drunken state….. but Tidal Bay, as much as I like the horse, gets destroyed in the KG, just wait.

Denman for me. The best 3m 2f horse in training. Excellent Gold Cup victory.

I for one would like to see Tidal Bay win the Tingle Creek as he is a horse with huge potential. However, I still think MM will spank Tidal Bay by 5-10 lengths on Saturday. The 186 rating is a bit much imo but MM ‘should’ be too good for this field if he is on form this weekend. Tidal Bay does have a chance of course but I feel he’ll be better suited in the King George.

All jockeys have a dip in form at some point throughout their careers but Sam has been dragged through mud this time. PN’s comments certainly haven’t helped either. ST is a very competent jockey but is, unfortunately, very much down on his luck at the moment.

I hoped that he would keep his ride on MM but sadly that is not the case and at the end of the day the trainer/owner makes the decision. Sam will be back though – no doubt about it.

As a devout Kauto fan I’m sticking with him for the King George but he’ll have to be much better than his last performance (and keep his jockey on board ). I also hope that Tidal Bay turns up as this is a horse with serious potential and I’d like to see how he gets on with the big boys at 3m.

That performance doesn’t bode well for Kauto Star’s Festival chances – he was absolutely knackered when he came down.

It would appear that claims he was back to his best following his victory in Ireland were indeed premature.

Or maybe he was not quite as good as most thought in the first place. Take the front two out and and KS not unseating and we would have had a repeat of last year and all would have been well particulary as both KS & ED connections stated before hand that they were as good as ever, in fact did Clive Smith not say he seemed better than last year before the race ? I have no doubt on his day and with his conditions Kauto Star can be scintilating, however the best since Arkle plaudits heaped on him by some after his 2006 season are a tad too much for me.

That is rather harsh don’t you think? Today was a bad day for Kauto but no excuses can be made. However there is no need to attack him in general is there? Especially right after a race where he fell – poor show.

Whats him falling got to do with anything ? Is it not allowed to give an opinion on what I think about the horse ? It seems those who have put him on so high a pedestal cannot come to terms with the fact that maybe their star is not so super.

Of course you are entitled to your opinion – I’m sure some people on here value it.

That was hard to watch. Firstly, I’m glad both Kauto and Sam got up ok – that is the important thing. However, I don’t think that Kauto travelled well at all and even if he survived that fence I’m not sure he’d have won. I will reserve judgement until after the King George but this was not a good day for Kauto fans

It was Kicking King that got me into horse racing. Love the horse and happy to hear he’s getting his well deserved retirement. :D

His only chance of beating Denman is if he jumps perfectly and travells well like we all know he can. If he were to run to his best and come at Denman between the last two I couldn’t see the big horse coping with him……

I agree FoF. I’ve no doubt if they are both travelling well two out then Kauto spanks Denman any day of the week. The problem is Denman runs the finish out of you long before two out! Kauto will have to be at his very best to regain his GC title. I’m still going with Denman right now as I believe the GC race/conditions are tailor made for him but I’d love to see Kauto win it again.

Kauto will hammer them and everyone will be cooing about his performance afterwards imo.

    Amen to that! 8)

The 07 Gold Cup tells you Exotic can chase Kauto"s backside! A lot of folk would be amazed if Exotic beats Kauto on Saturday! I will just be relieved to claw back some of my losses from supporting him loyally!

More heartache for you this Saturday then GW! don’t put too much money on ED! :D

Of course Fist, the gaping hole in your theory is that the Betfair Million was already lost by the time Aintree came round.

I assume FoF meant that as the BF Million was lost they sent Kauto to Aintree for the OOM title/money? :?

Great to see Hardy win that one. Sizing Europe looked very good on his reappearance. Jered, well, hmmm :?

On all known form Kauto wins the Betfair Chase with ease but I agree with FoF; this is crunch time. Kauto’s first run of the season was impressive from a fitness perspective but he beat nothing so this is a good test for him. I still expect him to win comfortably though 8)

In the absence of Ruby (may he get better soon) I’m assuming that Sam Thomas is on Kauto for this race?

If both turn up fit and well then the 2009 GC will be won by Kauto Star or Denman. My personal pick is the obvious one (Denman) at this moment in time but if Kauto is back to his best then he is a serious contender.

Neptune Collonges will likely bag a place if conditions are right and the race is run to suit.

Tidal Bay looks very good but can’t see him beating the big two this season. One for the future though if he follows the GC route.

Exotic Dancer and War of Attrition – both very good horses and on their day could battle for a place.

Albertas Run – as much as I like this horse (and I do) it has no chance of winning a Gold Cup in the near future unless it improves dramatically, imo.
