November 20, 2008 at 20:26 #190850It was Kicking King that got me into horse racing. Love the horse and happy to hear he’s getting his well deserved retirement.
November 20, 2008 at 20:36 #190852Glad to see a good horse is not being raced longer than he should in a vain attempt to chase former glories.
A great servant who owes connections nothing, may he have a long and healthy retirement.
November 20, 2008 at 20:46 #190854Happy retirement, think a bit of everyone wanted to see him come back to his best but it just wasnt happening, and the right decision has been made.
November 20, 2008 at 21:20 #190862Agreed – he has really earned his polos.

November 20, 2008 at 21:43 #190875Very classy animal in his prime. Six Grade1 wins says it all. To see him and War Of Attrition winging the fences down the back at Punchestown last month was a great sight.
His full brother Table Talk, won his bumper at Naas a few weeks ago. If he can achieve a fraction of what the King achieved I’m sure Tom will be very happy.
November 20, 2008 at 22:42 #190897Kicking King has been a top class horse winning the 2005 Gold Cup and two King Georges. He’s never recovered from the injury he sustained and it’s good to see connections making the right decision to retire him from racing.

Glad to hear they have decded to finish with him. Tom Taaffe and his team ar knowledgable and kind horsemen and no doubt he will have the gentle retirement he justly deserves. He is in the hands of good people.
November 21, 2008 at 06:53 #191014Great day when he won the Gold Cup; everyone I spoke to that day said he was going to win it and talked about how magnificent he looked..happy retirement to him…..
November 21, 2008 at 10:17 #191020It takes an exceptional horse to do the King George / Gold Cup double.
Great efforts in the Supreme Novices’ and Arkle, too, where he only failed by a length to master the ultra tough and talented Well Chief over an inadequate two miles.
Happy retirement, Double K.
November 21, 2008 at 13:24 #191034good news, have a lovely retirement KK, always thought he was a real thinker about his jumps, a joy to watch.
November 22, 2008 at 01:55 #191201Great horse. Have a long and happy retirement KK….. Well done to connections for drawing stumps as soon as it’s become apparent he’s not going to scale the old heights.
November 22, 2008 at 16:33 #191323I remember his 1st King George and my brother asking me for a value bet. I told him KK should win but Kingscliff would get a place and that I was going to do that ew. Then when KK nearly came a cropper at the last my heart sank as he jumped on my back thinking we’d both won. Only after it crossed the line did I admit I’d backed the winner, so drinks ended up on me. Great horse great memories.
November 22, 2008 at 17:05 #191330Have a great retirement.
The correct decision in my opinion.
Thanks for the memories.
