JollyP – I’m usually at Ascot so if you’re planning to attend let me know and I’ll buy you a Fosters, provided you buy me something decent in return!

I have to say that the Cup is a very exciting race, both the build up and to watch, the flat equivalent of the Grand National. It’s easy to see why it is so popular.

Well for me a bit of a whirlwind, a good win then out at work for 2 weeks in the never never…First things with Araldo such a shame, would have thought he was too buggered after the cup to spook like that, but always thought the crowds down the race to the track were too close.Looking at both sides p#ssed off from a racing side but to the once a year maybe just enjoying themselves.Admire Rakti got me the cash in the Caufield Cup would gladly forgo it for him to still be around, but it was like a human having a heart attack andit wwasn’t in the last 2 to 3 furlongs. Think the race copped a bit after 2 horses died, but it was in all a freakish event.Well was told by ‘her indoors’ ( why don’t we have a great show like Minder these days…) that can’t go to Royal Ascot this year….But booked… all i have to do is tell her….before June….So David, buying me a Foster’s is about on par with punching me in the face… A bit like Neighbors and Home and Away David, we give it to you….Please don’t give it back…..So i think maybe a Heineken or Becks may be in order! Though i have the upper hand with the ‘Ball and Chain’, travelled a lot around the world the last few years, she hated every where but…. Santorini last year….. So…’Guess where we are going this year darling’… SANTORINI……Woohoo….And TAPK she is a Nottingham girl, so you have a lot to answer for….Funny though how her indoors loves me buying the hats , shoes and dresses for RA, thats fine….Anyway i digress…..Actully did RA, Santorini, Kinsale in Ireland and Dolgellau in Wales.Loved them all found Ireland surprisely expensive, though still very nice, Loved Wales. Maybe we should have a travel section on here where we can pass on our tips…Santorini for those who have not been, go it is wonderful. …So good, though the down side is it seems all the beautiful people go…I hate it when i can’t compete…. Anyway Cormak it’s a date, i shall bring a Margaret River wine from here, just tell me red or white…All is good i have 7 months to tell the wife i have booked….

Thanks ladies and gents, told my wife stevecaution gave me a big thanks, first time i havefelt a real part of the racing forum. And Joni , Moe and Tapk, very humbling, thank you very much, means more than you can imagine.Told wife best racing forum in the world, know at times i may p#ss you off but mean well.If Admire Rakti wwasn’t a big enough downer then Araldo….Had a big win but feel deflated…..Always wanted to meet up at a UK Forum do in future, my bark is worse than the bite, and like i said to Joni (whom i respect greatly, though , love taking the p#ss out of him) a bit of sledging is goodin the right way. This is the only forum i go on and We have our run ins but Cormack runs this place like we want to Well hopefully in future we get to grt together.

    Den.

You Thanks Steve things went my way, sorry Nathan for the shitty tips.Very sad to hear Admire Rakti died, a real downer, good day i got our trifecta for 145% and first 4 for 48% so a $100 outlay returned $10 646, very happy and wife won best dressed woman and i won best dressed man…..But i was hot……Anyway Ryan Moore you legend i coaxed it out of you, the best ride in the race, now Australia knows he is world class and yes in the bestriders in the world.Poor Admire Rakti, a real sad part to the day i was on him in the Caulfield Cup :(

Anything on the under card worth backing Jolly?

Nathan in race 5 i like the top weight Law, only about 5 to 7-1 but think he will go close. In race 8 horse 8 Vilanova ew at around 10 to 12-1. A hard day big fields.Just checked it out big money for Law a bit skinny at 5-2, 3-1, but think with no bad luck he looks to have better form than the others.

29 degrees in Melbourne with just the chance of a shower, but Melb can have 4 seasons in one day. Over here if a horse has the same name they put My or Our in front sometimes the original hasn’t raced for yonks so a bit annoying. Just worried that Ambivalent wasn’t right for the Caufield Cup and had to be scratched.I left Fawkner out but he is a class horse who could go close.I don’t like the internationals not having had a prep run here.I may be wrong but Mutual Regard to me looked like a dour win, didn’t have that bit of zip, but as i said he could prove me wrong.

Sea Moon scratched from the Cup, he is one horse who has gone backwards fast since coming over here.On form he probably should never have accepted but Lloyd Williams is pretty arrogant, he accepted with Efficient after he won the Derby a few years ago and scratched soon after. It just costs another horse getting the run in the Cup. Signoff trained here by Darren Weir is the dramatic shortener in from 16’s to 6-1 after a dominant win in the Lexus on Saturday.Has only 51kg and Moreira to ride, has a winning weight if good enough.

    Mackinnon replay here:

    http://racing.hkjc.com/racing/overseas/ … 41101/S1/3

bit harsh on Joao considering the international ratings of the first six:

    116
    110 (Joao) – 0.1 length
    115 – 0.85 length
    113 – 2.35 length
    117 – 3.6 length
    112 – 3.7 length

…and he had already won the two previous races

Don’t get me wrong Wit, horses travel beautifully for him and he is a great rider but he looked different yesterday he looked a bit out of rhythm on He’s Your Man and if you compare him to Oliver on the winner there was a stark contrast.

Well have to have a retake on Moreira after the Mckinnon stks today, placed He’s Your Man beautifully and rode him a treat but weak as a kitten riding the horse out.Watch the replay of Damian Oliver on the winner Happy Trails going 4 to Moreira’s one….Put Oliver on He’s Your Man he wins, put Oliver on Faaraaj he wins by 4 lengths, Oliver has been the been the best rider in the world for close to 20 years.

Obviously HK gets under the radar a bit in the UK.Otherwise those calling Ryan Moore the best in the world have never heard of Joao Moreira!!!! They don’t call him the Magic Man for nothing!!!

I mentioned the Arc JollyP as you were on about the Caulfield Cup when you were baiting with the comment about Japanese ‘stayers’. The Arc is over (more or less) the same distance.

Certainly not baiting Cormack, their stayers say 14f plus are quite a bit better than the rest of the world. Their middle distance horses are probably as good as any, just that they get flint hard tracks, so don’t tend to produce the same form on softer Euro tracks, as usually the same when the Euro horse goes there. Obviously both have raced well in the others back yard but it isn’t the norm.
