You’ll see a much better one when Frankel wins it.
I don’t buy this Sam bashing I think its merely looking for excuses. The truth is when Kauto upped the pace Long Run didn’t have the pace to go with him and the faster they went the more pressure it put on Long Run’s jumping.
Sam knows Long Run better than anyone and he’s won a King George and a Gold Cup on him so they obviously aren’t a bad partnership.
Best horse won, simple as that.
I know RUK had five meetings to cover but couldn’t they have used a behind the red button system rather than split screens? It dilutes the quality of the coverage.
Considering it was King George day yesterday the coverage was pretty poor lack of proper previews, lack of proper coverage of the aftermath of the King George.
I was pretty disappointed to be honest.
I don’t think Long Run would’ve won whoever rode him or however he’d been ridden. Long Run just didn’t have the pace to ever go with Kauto. The closest he got was at the end but Kauto had had them racing from a long way out.
Great to see the old boy proving people wrong (me for one). What a legend.
What the hell are you moaning about?
Its a great move our heroes should be not only remembered but also treated as the heroes they are.
I can’t believe you can have a go at the FA for this. Long overdue.
As for FIFA well it has Septic Bladder in charge that just about says it all.
The Breeders Cup doesn’t matter anymore its had it day as far as Brits are concerned. Champions Day is the Big event now, that and the Arc.
Leave the Breeders Cup to the Americans and our second division horses.
Horses that have injuries don’t run as well as Born To Sea did. Don’t kid yourselves folks he’s a smart horse but he’s no world beater.
Maybe jockeys should just accept the new rules, stop whinging and get on with it. A horse still finishes first and one still finishes second. If they aren’t good enough to win a race by means other than hitting a horse then maybe they aren’t as good a horseman as they think they are?
Ruby Walsh is the best NH jockey by a mile end of.
McCoy might have more winners but he has at least three times as many rides year in, year out.
Ruby is out on his own quality wise.
He may well be looked after but let’s hope if he repeats the offence he’ll wish he hadn’t.
Well said.
Some people are going to have to get in touch with reality at some point. Fox like every jockey knows the rules he didn’t just excede them he was way over the top.
The only problem I have is if a horse wins a race because of a jockeys misuse of the whip that horse should be disqualified, its absurd and completely defeats the object of the excercise that a winner winning by a breaking of the rules is allowed to remain a winner.
September 14, 2011 at 17:15 in reply to: Is there history between Khalid Abdulla and Kieren Fallon ? #370948I was going to make the same point re Dancing Brave. I will no doubt get castigated for it, but Dancing Brave failed to win the Derby because he didn’t come down the hill and took too long to get balanced. By the time Greville could launch his attack Shahrastani had too much of an advantage. On the day he just wasn’t able to do it.
I disagree. Dancing Brave lost in the Derby because he was too far back off a slow early pace.
The owner has the right to choose the jockey simple as that. Its hardly a new thing. Fallon is a better jockey than Kingscote.
This has to be the worst Irish Champion I can remember. So You Think should win this with ease.
We have to wait til the middle of March these days though dont we.
Yep. To be honest its crap until then. These big races beforehand – half of them are handicaps. Jumps season begins in March and ends after the Grand National meeting.
The flat is far better than the jumps and what a year we’ve had so far.
I can’t find much enthusiasm for the jumps I’m afraid, one big race every blue moon, one run per horse until Cheltenham and about a dozen blank weeks.
This "Canford Cliffs ran below form" thing is utter nonsense there is nothing whatsoever to suggest that is the case and I mean nothing. Lines through Rio De La Plata and Rajasman certainly don’t indicate that.
Watch ALL of his races since the 2000 Guineas he cruises up to the furlong marker then quickens. On this ocassion Frankels 10.13 second furlong from three out completely broke Canford he just couldn’t go that pace and couldn’t get in a position to quicken he used that quickening speed trying to stay with Frankel which of course he couldn’t.
Some people are naively clutching at straws I’m afraid.
I’ve no doubts he’ll get a mile. Doubt he’d get any further than that.
