When I left the UK in 2000 , it was a win or three runs and a horse got a mark , when did that change , or is my memory wonky .
Used to be Luca Cumani plan , three runs up north then win decent summer handicap , more often than not at Goodwood then the horse turns out Group class .

Its playing politics carrying on ond look of video of reporter in Lebanon talking then seeing a missile homing in just behind him shows its not a great time to have crowds at a high profile event .
I look forward to DWC night , one of highlights of racing year imho but folly to carry on.

In Albert Einstein Aidan hasnt trained a horse as fast , in Mr Waterville he hasnt trained a horse that ended up so slow . He was just aweful Sunday .
Iam going to try get a price on Montreal in the Birdsville Cup 2029 .

Greyhound racing gone in NZ 1st Aug . It became dominated by few trainers with multiple entries milikng money , and not Mullins type multiple entries , way way way more domination .
Secret is be too big to close , at moment jumps and horsecracing as a whole too big to fail imho,Cheltenham was massive this year . .
Plus in NZ thoroughbred breeders have make very big friends in power , theres another good thing to do .

Prince Rupert the OZ version by coincidence fresh up fron 4 month spell at Port Macquarie today .
Had a look on you tube the 1988 QE2 that Prince Rupert ran last in , id forgot how good Warning was , just put the race to bed in blink of an eye .
I used to , and still do from time look through bumper fields to find odd high priced yearling that failed to make it for big yards or well related flat horse that didnt make the cut .
Be interesting to see how this bumper winner goes on with it .

HK and OZ have mandatory retirement , I’ve seen horses at 12 in great form imho it’s not the way to go . On the flip side I was on track last year and a 3 yo filly dropped dead after 1200 metres . It’s not a exact science .We all know 500 kgs of fast animal, there’s a lot going on , and huge pressure on body but that’s what they are bred for .
My view is it seemed pointless rolling the dice again with Envoi Allen at outside odds . However Iam pretty confident the stable set him for race , and had him healthy pre race .

I posted on 12th Dec that i thought it was probably a risk not worth taking so not being wise after event , however he won his last race and he passed pre race vets , but at 33 to 1 , one of those i wonder why bother
Not sure why he jumped last two fences but he could have dropped dead at end of straight walking back and jockey just jogged him home so its not on him imho
My thoughts would be , owner loaded , they have had 7 goes at Cheltenham with him , if you going to retire a horse after a race , like i said on 12th Dec , retire it before race .
If all you want is a horse home safe , dont enter it .
Overall i think Cheltenham done a very good job this week with safety .

Great effort by Vauban , sat behind leader Just Fine and popped out and went by in straight , looked in a bit of trouble on bend but knuckled down well and went past . Won same race last year .
Hes a tough old horse but they have put some zip in him .
Whole field of 7 ex euro imports . There is the odd decent middle distance horse bred in OZ but imports dominate fields .

Age of Kings auction closed off yesterday , went for 7k AUD , he could get a race in country .
Chief Little Rock another ex Ballydoyle in this weekend , had 5 trials but hasnt made it to races in OZ yet , gone well in trials so might go ok .

Victoria Road was brought for big money for the Cox Plate about 3 years back but has had issues and beem gelded . He ran 2nd couple starts back . Hes in at Gold Coast tomorrow , Zoology in same race who was second to Age of Kings in Jersey Stakes a few years back and Glory Daze who ran in Epsom Derby at one time .
Age of Kings is currently on Inglis Online sale as Wallers given up on him .

Mr Waterville has changed yards , new yard nabbed a place in Colac Cup a month or so ago , then he ran last next up , in again Sunday this time in Yarra Valley Cup . Last win in 2022 at The Curragh a long time ago .
Victoria Road Ballydoyle Breeders Cup winner doing the rounds in average Brisbane handicaps , still looking for first win since BC win .

I wonder sometimes about the 100 to 1 shots that clearly are not racehorses you see on here from time to time , seems bit pointless keep sending them round then wondering why the worst happens , but HMS Seahorse a long long way from that .
The amount of horses going round at Cheltenham and the amount of fallers to me shows a high level of training .
There is more chance of a NH horse going onto a new role in retirement than some of these slower flat horses too .
Latenightpass Iam sure will go onto a useful role for many years , there loads of positives .
One who is an issue is Pied Piper , two crashing falls in a row , but very decent horse , he’s one of the tricky ones but that’s racing .

F U not great formlines but he was running a good race and had got round well in big field up to that point so imho no one to blame at all as he was up there at the last.
Its a shame but if you want jump racing you get fatalities simple as that .

Vauban entered in Sky High Stakes at Rosehill this weekend , fresh up , had a couple decent trials . Decent entries so won’t be easy .
About 600k AUD ran back so far since transfer , if it was million quid sale he still has a bit to do . One big hit will do it this Autumn .

Had read up on Brentford Hope , great work by connections , they could have rammed him round a bit more , tried a few things , ran him down ratings but they took right decision as horse owes them nothing .

Jonbon out , Fact to File in this I reckon , confidence must be in last year’s GC winner to do biz again . A long line but Iam getting on the repeat win in Gold Cup now .
