Not the ideal weekend to be working, though looking forward to the replays is always nice.
Only looked at the 3 handicaps, all look tricky, none too confident, treading gently this time of the year.
3-10 Court Minstrel stands out on handicap rating, had a feeling they might change pilot,a yard I normally avoid. If the handbrakes off, every chance.Main play will be Roi De Dubai, smell a rat here with elliot also having entries,trip/ground should be fine, the claim puts him very close to bottom weight, tight race.
4-55 Not just about the horses in these amateur races,1st three home last year ridden by non claiming jocks.NTD has won this couple times, the lesser fancied Muckle Roe of his pair appeals at the price.Tomorrows pilot gave it a peach when winning at Warwick, stamina assured,if it can avoid any blunders early, think it has a squeak. Will have a saver on Goohar, decent form here looking back, trainer does not send them to HQ very often, noted when he does.
5-30 Shoal Bay stands out here, anything approaching his novice form behind western ryder should see him go very close.Big gangly type, still very raw/sloppy jumping,he has an engine.Prepared to forgive his handicap run first time up,trip too far at this stage, travelled well for a long way.The claim effectively puts him in off 120,on ground he should relish, hoping for a decent show.
Man Of Plenty is an old friend, ran well here last year, just the sort of race where he could pick up the pieces, saver material tomorrow.Keep an eye out for yours once posted.
Evening Fella………See you have started early with them big priced donkeys.
Decent 3 days action coming up,not top notch, two days at chelts, followed by Aintree, not all bad.
Great time of the year, plenty of old favourites dusting themselves off,the decent novices raring to go,second guessing which yards look the most forward.Plenty to take out of last season, hopefully a few more lessons learnt this end,as always a mixture of excitement and a little trepidation.
Be interested to see what ground we have up at HQ,just how much H2O will they have needed to keep it safe ground. Not too much until decs, couple look interesting both days, including the williams horse from chepstow.
Should know a little more tomorrow,as always, best of luck over the coming season.
Excellent punting Gents, been a little busy and away for a couple weeks to recharge the batteries.
Just the one bet in that time,ante-post on Jimmy Walker for the US Open.
BMW favourite tournament outside of the Open rota this side pond, have been to this venue many times over the years, tremendous course that has stood the test of modern day equipment. Not an easy one to predict, been a few winners that were really under the radar, these tree lined fairways can be very intimidating,a proper test.
Gone with a few that have played well here recently, and added Paisley who looked way overpriced on recent evidence.Pepperell is an Oxford boy who my dad has been banging on about since he made the tour, not that consistent,he does have a habit of playing well on tough tracks.
C Wood 130
D Burmeister 300
E Pepperell 170
C Paisley 210
A Dodt 630
S Hend 530As always, best of luck to all.
Evening Fella
Well done weekend,another big hit.
Thats me for punchy after today, watched it back a fair few times, gets worse everytime.Had a hunch that Monbeg might be ok on todays ground,Ronald gives it a few taps and it flies after the last, one for next season, does he go both ways I wonder.
Keep an eye on yours, your on a roll

The Cuprinol thread.
He pulled the horse……..the intention was never to win.
Invitation Only was the stable horse,he looked across after that got brought down, found himself in front on a non jigger,he took the only route available, wiping out the tizzard horse in a blind panic.
A conspiracy theory…….no,the preceding races and betting tell you all you need to know about the stable, bringing the sport into disrepute at virtually every grade 1 meeting.
The greed knows no boundary, the jockey was riding to orders, goes with the territory.
21 days is laughable, the stewards report even worse, rancid outfit.
Well done Raymo.
Well played BigG,another week and you could have had both FRL,your getting very close most weeks, getting them in the mix with 150 odd field is no easy task, your due another hit.
Yep,tee shot 14 killed Jimmy, not the first par 5 he messed up over the 4 days.No complaints, plenty chance to trade out during that final round, but never low enough for me.
Easily my favourite player on the PGA tour, always thought he has the game for links golf over here, that texas background would suit a really windy open championship.Quietly spoken,Harmon let it slip during the masters he was on the way back,under-rated player who plays difficult courses well, will be following him closely rest of the season.
Only watched last few holes of euro, that was enough, standard looks way short of previous years, crying out for some new blood. No surprise that the likes of sharma/paisley shine amongst this lot,do wonder just how many of these are way too comfortable mid pack, sponsored to the hilt.

Agreed Raymo……..Just stateside for me,have a look at Euro after cut.
Beau Hossler 48
Jimmy Walker 60
Sangmoon Bae 540 Top 5 85
Two local boys, plenty crowd support for both, win only.
JW has won here before, looking to get back on track following serious illness, signs at the Masters he is getting there.BH played superbly under pressure couple weeks back, looks a rookie with a future.Sangmmoon only one top 15 at Pebble, still not shown his true form, not totally given up on him yet, small play EW.
Good luck gents
Evening Botchy……..Not an easy call either way.
Certainly be with him to regain losses, with a little on top.The fact the yard are mob-handed does muddy the water, the opposition looks strong. Some of these events can be a dawdle early doors, that would be my biggest concern,he could pull his chance away before the business end.
On the positive side has run well here before, the lack of cover at HQ was pretty obvious, and that ground took its toll on plenty. Can see why they skipped Aintree, will be watching the market and those early race times.Whatever happens he is one to keep on side, still like to see him on better ground at this distance.
GL
Delighted to hear that.
Remember talking about him way back 2016 before the 4 miler,he was a big winner for you at that meeting, not always about the gambling side. Most of us can regurgitate form when required, but there is that 10% factor, the ability to spot something in a run style,a particular set of conditions, where connections may next place a horse.
You have that in bundles, very rare gift, testament to all those write ups. This is a game where we all have to live with failure more often than not,the nature of the beast, learning to deal with that is the hardest part in some ways.
That scatter gun approach of yours took me a long time to appreciate, but it works for you, long may that continue.
Watching those replays back is huge part of the puzzle, not always the fun part if we get it wrong, but you know my feelings on this, the select few we know elsewhere have one thing in common, they all put the work in.
4 decent looking days this week, couple entered at HQ that I have been waiting for,and the scottish meeting looks none too shabby, targeted by a couple southern trainers in particular.
X-country, back to Aintree, gentle early season campaign, that would be my guess, with one thought for you to ponder over that long hot summer near the tundra……I think he’s much better on decent ground.
Catch up soon……..expect you will be forcing the lid down on the war chest until the wee hours

That morning after feeling.
Every year the family like a few bets, with yours truly never seeing the stake money, probably goes on up and down the land ,no mind, the race still brings people together.
The little warrior brings home the Bacon, had my doubts as that race at HQ took a lot out of him.Running on empty at the end, just a gutsy perfomance from a real battler, wonderful horse.
The big question now, where does he go,suspect there might be only one race on the agenda.Still only 8 yr old,if they can keep him sound, every reason to suggest that upward curve may continue.
Plenty more to take out of the races over the big fences, the first two home yesterday and the Topham winner were ridden by three excellent pilots, sit back later and watch all the races over these obstacles,no coincidence that the same few rise to the top.
Cognac towers will be rocking for some time, with good reason, well deserved.
Many thanks to Jac and Nathan for all your efforts.
Appreciated by everyone…..take a bow.
Congratulations to VTC,very well done over the whole season.

A real turn up with Thunder……..virtually impossible on his recent starts to have any confidence, having said I will be with him, difficult one, sleep on that I think.
Back in the game, tomorrow looks really nice card, three decent handicaps and the donkey derby,is there any chance we can get our dosh back on the williams runner in the first?
Cursory glance only,a drop of red does not help, will update tomorrow once the head clears, not sure what we have in store weather wise, heads together tomorrow am,your due
