Not the greatest of starts, the mare getting collared late on set the tone.
Day two does not look any easier, but very open with just one hit required at decent odds.
Court minstrel is interesting, had a few pennies on him,the claim makes him dangerous.Main play is Eaton Hill at the bottom, the last two rides very interesting, couple pounds wrong,no surprise if he’s better than current mark.
Vision des flos/style garde…..the drop back for the tizzard horse is the angle, trappy looking race.
Snow Falcon….not quite sure why was entered last week, this horse always struck me as better on flat track, ground should be ok,normally travels well, coo star may also outrun odds.
Love to see Balko confirm his last run, lovely prospect who might just be a GC horse one day.
We saw the course form yesterday foxhunters,Ultragold and o o seven have both been round here, preference for the former,Cobden looks most improved rider for me,ideally would want less cut, decent renewal.
Tower Bridge/chef des obeaux…….no strong opinion here, both could be better on flat track, the owner/trainer combinations here make me wary, market watch may be in order.
Keep an eye on yours……GL

Morning…….Delayed as a few connection problems, just what we need. Not getting the vibes for todays card, historically this has not been my favourite day, still some nice horses on show,I would agree with softly approach.
Race 1 sets the bar,by process of elimination come down on the skelton mare, improving sort who has no issue with trip/ground,settled much better her last run, front two both been kept to mainly right handed tracks.
The juvenile hurdle just as tricky, saw the french horse at the 5 day stage, was half expecting the hendo horse pulled, very interesting entry. Not difficult to make a case for either of the Irish challengers, the bromhead horse especially, both way overpriced in open looking affair, these “babies” can improve dramatically this time year.
With you on Clan Des Obeaux,if there is a potential improver,he,s the boy.Best two performances at newbury, left handed and flat.No excuses for the jolly…..that was a hard race at headquarters, not the type that Hendo would sacrifice if he thought not 100%.
Cyrus Darius has plenty to find on figures, likes the track and no ground fears, not sure that was a high class stayers, time will tell,so at the prices a tentative selection.
Distime was the horse I liked,as with a lot hard to know just how much ability they retain, been here before which is positive, ground should be fine. Also had a little on the Irish horse,Biddick and o’neil are decent riders, another big factor in this race.
Only handicap, and as ever a difficult puzzle, missed the prices but I do think Doitforthevillage has a decent chance of recouping losses from 2017.Heavily backed in this last year, the F against his name is tosh, clipped heels after the fence when travelling ominously well.Mark looks high enough, will need a personal best to collect, hard to discount any.
Notable none of the big Irish yards have entries, maybe keeping them for punchy and the trainers championship?
Keep an eye on yours,as always need a little lady…………best of luck today

Evening Wise One………Well done weekend, nice hit.
Heavy ground Aintree will be interesting, going will be changed after the first race if history is anything to go by.Thursday looks difficult, just the one handicap later on the card, waiting for overnight decs as plenty entered lower down in that race.
Like one in particular in the Foxhunters, just waiting to see final riding arrangements,a big factor in that race some years, that may also give us a clue for conditions on the National course.
Couple later in the week that have been on the radar,Diable De Sivola needs quite a few to come out first race friday, that mark 134 very workable,Ned already booked.
Nothing stands out alone in the National,Raz De Maree was way too big earlier in the week, can see that shortening, inc claims gone up a fair bit for that welsh success, but his best work was at the end, suggesting he might be one of a very select few staying on after the last.
Baie Des Illes….long term fan of this horse, straight into notebook after that effort behind Native River in the 2016 welsh national.Everything about the mare screams stamina, the stats are against her,but they all fall eventually.Really fancied her at xmas for the welsh, but pulled 5 day stage, think I read she had small setback, missed the boat at bigger odds,a little on at 44,but not enough

Tiger is very well, leg wax and plenty organic carrot juice by all accounts

Hope your off ?Stick some thoughts up tomorrow night if your about.
Well spotted TKF……..was hoping he would partner one of tizzards in this, the hounds may be off the scent at the moment,HC has cracking strike rate for both stables, interested to see who he rides for.
Lovely to hear that both horses leave healthy, with a long and enjoyable retirement ahead.
Cause Of Causes…….That Kim Muir victory was spectacular, coming from a different parish turning in,he was taking a pull coming to the 2nd last, very rare in festival races.
Cognac Towers was heard on the south coast when he landed the 2017 x-country,I ignored several messages in the lead up to that race, all Implying that defeat was out the question, weeks in advance of the meeting.
VTC is far too modest to admit he had a fair old chunk going onto the horse, absolutely bolted up that day.
The bond we have with certain horses is not always reasoned, very very special when they deliver on the biggest stage,he will live long in one posters memory, for all the right reasons…..wonderful horse.

Best wishes Jac…..hope you have great weekend with the family

Tremendous shout MOM…..he did it the hard way, with a world class field snapping at his heels, kept his nerve and ultimately played the best golf over the 4 days, deserving winner…..well played.
Well done to Raymo.Botchy,Darren,Mike and BigG,some great shouts pre-tournament, plenty of placed winners who did you all proud, lovely to see those selections rewarded……top stuff.
Iconic course that never fails to provide drama in the extreme, another action packed final round, with the final few holes keeping everyone in suspense,Augusta truly is a special golf venue.
Will heed those words BigG,never too late to change ones angle, young Smith continues to make giant strides and has done you proud once again, lots to take out of this tournament, for the rest of the season ahead.
Hopefully not missed anyone out……once again, well done to those coming out on top

Weather set fair for the opening two days, storm passed by yesterday, saturday possibilty of rain/thunder,sunday looks fine,no excuses for any of them.
Amazing performance in the par 3 from Watson,Nicklaus and Player…….just how good would they have been in todays field in their prime, using modern equipment. That putting style of Nicklaus is just unique, very surprised its not copied more, poulter might be doing something similar when he refers to opening up the shoulder line.
BigG has been banging the drum for Smith and Sharma all season, they are both progressing at a rate of knots, fine young players who could be in the mix,the experience will do them no harm regardless result, well spotted that man.
Agree with Kuchar around here, this looks his best chance of the 4 majors, very steady player, scoring is anyones guess, have a hunch it will not be that low.
Amen corner and featured groups on the red button later……that will be the call for me for most of the day, some of the sky panel I find nauseating with their fawning of certain players,I may be in the majority of one, when I admit to loving the commentary of Allis in his day, everything moves on.
Best of luck today
April 5, 2018 at 01:20 in reply to: SELECT 3 HORSES to win on Saturday 31st March 2018-UPDATED #1349128He would have a few stories, great stuff on that site.
Pretty sure VTC backed a few he rode, in his early betting days, still not happy with the rides to this day.
Aphi playing new ball this week……Noodle
Blubba……4 day sponsorship with Kleenex confirmed

Thanks BigG
Watched both races earlier today……RTW was much bigger on the machine,so was Ivan.Remember you had the 3rd horse at 3 figure prices as well, happy days.
Quiet week, all about the golf now, weekend cards look poor, some dry weather would not go amiss.Down on the south coast here, garden soaked, dog hates it,grass about a foot long…….any mention of the mower etc has already been addressed

Laters

Evening All…….Not long now, possible storm tomorrow which I hope misses the area, firm and fast would be perfect.Interesting markets, just under 4 1/2 million matched already in the win market on the machine, the big money will arrive at the weekend, fair to say plenty with an opinion. Not gone mad,a little in the reserve tank for the dreaded friday evening cut

Starting Position
-£44 the field
a scott £731
c schwartzel £1,576
c smith £676
z johnson £676
j walker £3,106
s sharma £536
j dufner £1,877
c reavie £1,096All in the win market on the machine, nothing each way.Minimal amount on all for 1st rd leader, enough to cover all stakes and a little on top.
Scott,Schwartzel and Walker are proven winners at the highest level, considering some of the players at similar prices around them, they stand out at current odds.
Hopefully plenty of ours in the mix come the weekend, enough for a little banter would be just fine.
Very best of luck to everyone

Evening
Not to be at fairyland, touch and go yesterday so no surprise after rain overnight.
Been looking where VDR might go next, wondering if they might bring him over to Aintree.
The only two suitable races are first race on friday, over 2m 4f…..or the last race saturday over 2m.
Not sure if you remember rule the world national, was it you that also backed Ivan Grozny on the other site?Plenty guesswork here, but its half the fun,of the two suitable races I reckon the saturday conditional riders over 2m.IG won the 2016 version pulling a cart, same owner/ trainer as VDR,he carried top weight that day off mark 141.Following his cheltenham exercise,VDR has been dropped to…….141…,the lad who was booked today would be eligible to ride at Aintree,a conditional.Jury out whether he needs better ground, the donkey derby beforehand ensures team mullins will have runners that day.
Probably more Clouseau than Poirot,we will see

Evening THM………very good analysis, pleasure to read.
Folsom Blue…..Thats the sort of luck we can all do without, desperately unlucky not to get up.
Not the first bit of misfortune reading through,I can see that changing in the near future,it always does.
A question if I may….Augusta Kate…..couple recent schooling sessions, both on the track, any Idea what the plan might be for this one,get the feeling she is being laid out for something ?
Stick with it.
