Sorry I’m late guys, it’s been a busy week for me but I got on a couple
late last night. The tournament has started, but they haven’t yet.Trophee Hassan
Jorge Campillo 33/1 (50/1 1st round betting)
For much the same reasons I put him up last week, and he didn’t disappoint
with a very decent T5 in the Open De Espana. I think there’s more to come
from him, and the nearer he gets to landing a tournament, the more confidence
he will have that he can get over the winning line.Erik Van Rooyen 80/1 (80/1 1st round betting)
He’s taken a bit of time to get onto the European Tour, but at 28 he’s
still got time to make his mark after graduating from the Challenge Tour,
where he finished 3rd, last year. He’s done well enough in his rookie year
for me to think he could have a chance in this at decent odds. He’s had 3
top 20 finishes, the best of which was his 2nd in the Joburg Open. One
thing he will have on his side in this, is that he hits it for miles, and
with this course being long that could be an advantage. I’m hoping he might
start off the same way in this as he did in the Joburg Open, where he carded
a 64. He’s capable of shooting low, so the 80s in the 1st round market seems
a reasonable bet.I’ll stick up a couple in Texas Open before they get under way. Good luck
chaps
April 19, 2018 at 11:02 #1351071Trophee Hassan
Just checked the scores, and Eddie Pepperell, who I put up
last week along with Campillo was one I intended to chance, and with all the
stuff I’ve had on this week, I missed him. He’s 2 under after 9 holes, and
although his odds have halved to 20/1, I’d kick myself if he comes good this
week. I’ve missed the 1st round betting, but fortunately with a Ladbrokes boost,
I’ve got him at 25s for the outright, I’ve stuck 20 quid on the nose.April 19, 2018 at 12:40 #1351078Texas Open
I’m still running late, the tournament starts in 20 minutes, and I’ve still not
started my horses for Ntahan’s Craven Meeting compy, so I’ll be quick with just
the guys I’ve hurriedly stuck on five minutes ago.Charley Hoffman 20/1 (28/1 1st round betting)
He’s in cracking form.Chesson Hadley 40/1 (50/1 1st round betting)
Has the all round game for thisShubhankar Sharma 100/1 8 places Sky (90/1 1st round betting)
Well how could I not
April 22, 2018 at 12:53 #1351578Final day chaps, and we’re all still in with some kind of chance. I started off pretty
well, I thought Van Rooyen was going to take the 1st round leader at 80/1, he was joint
leader at 4 under with two to go, and had the par 5 8th (his 17th) which I thought might
get him to 5 under and outright leader….he hit a 6
To be fair to him he birdied
the 9th which put him back to 4 under. One short of outright leader, but e/w at 80s was still
well worth the bet. He’s one behind going into the final round, so I’m hopeful.Raymo I see your man Bjork has started his final round and is 1 under after 3 at 5 under and
just 2 off the lead….good luck with him mate, he has a real shout at 80/1
In the Texas Open, again I thought I might pull off the 1st round leader with Hadley, but he
fell 1 short in 2nd. Still, 50/1 e/w made it worthwhile. He’s not done so well since, tied 17th
but at 6 under he’s 7 off the lead and only a slim chance of getting into the place money.
Darren and Flyers you have Hossler amd Raymo you have Horshel both at 7 under, so maybe they could
get into the money, I doubt any of us can get the win out of this, but we can live in hope
April 22, 2018 at 17:39 #1351598Bets on Tennis
RICHARD GASQUET 4/1 To win Gazprom hungarian open
To me this between the 2 top french players here the other one is Lucas Pouile who won this event last year so he only danger here and they could meet in semi finals expect both get there whoever wins final i think Gasquet do it.
DOMINIC THIEM 8/1 Each way Barcalona open
Loss to Nadal not ideal but no disgrace and can reach final here coming back from injury did ok at Monte carlo and be fitter this week after last week.Only worry be Schartzman who class player on clay and Dimitrov but still feel get to final.
ELINA SVITOLINA 9/1 To win WTA PORSCHE Grand prix
While clay not her best surface she can still do well here has won on clay before and decent looking draw here may face Sharapova in QF which be hard and Halep in last 4.But she can beat both here.Win this week.
April 22, 2018 at 21:08 #1351613Good luck with those picks Daz
Gaelic Warrior Gold Cup Winner 2026
April 24, 2018 at 11:07 #1351749Another weekend of nearly’s there!!
Glad Bjork got placed for a few quid but had two just out of the money in Texas!! Grrrr !!
Never mind onwards and upwards hey guys
April 24, 2018 at 12:51 #1351754That sums it up Raymo. My 1st round betting saved my bacon, I was really disappointed with
Van Rooyen’s last round. A par round has him well in the money, 2 under would have him tied
for leader. I know how you feel about being just outside the money Raymo, I took the bigger
odds on Van Rooyen with Paddy Power, but they only went 6 places. I could have taken him at
66s 7 places (he was 7th) but the green monster saw that 80/1 and there was no holding me back
Well done with Bjork though, 80/1 and placed isn’t to be sniffed at

Flyers, that was a good run by Walker, it’s a pity about the 2 bogies at 14 and 15, I thought he
looked like he was going to be right in the mix up until that point. I think you’re right, he looks
like he’s on the way back.April 24, 2018 at 13:24 #1351756Bets this week start at China open
BERND WEISBERGER 20/1
Loves it in Asia won 3 times this part of the world was 4th here last year and this a venue he likes with 4 par fives and 2 short par fours ideal for big hitter like him.He not win as much but can this week.
LI HAITONG 16/1
Won here in 2016 but since that win has improved so much was 3rd in the open and biggest win was winning Dubai desert classic when holding off Rory. Was 32nd at masters break since would do him good.
BRANDON STONE 80/1
Look like become one of the best players of South Africa but lost his form but has started to find form. And we know he likes Asia. Was 2nd at Shezan open course which favours big hitters to.And good week could be on cards for him.
SCOTT VINCENT 100/1
When tour come to Asia this a guy i like a lot big hitter to who good on greens was 4th in event last week. And be eager win here then get a tour card for European tour he is good enough to do that
PHACHARA KHONGWATMI 150/1
This is a serious talent in Asia maybe best of the young players on tour while he MC last 3events back in Asia i expect bold run from him this week. Was 18th here last year i think 12 months on can do even better here.
April 24, 2018 at 13:44 #1351757Bets for Zurich open
JUSTIN THOMAS BUD CAULEY 14/1
Bit shocked not shorter in betting both are good pals while JT is superior player Cauley has decent form in last 3 weeks to suggest can hold his form this week if they do not see anyone stopping them.
JAMIE LOVEMARK BRENDAN STEELE 40/1
Jamie was 2nd here in 2016 and still wait for debut win on tour but him and Steele be a good pair who get on well. And can see them going well this week.
BYEONG HUN AN KEVIN NA 40/1
Will worry about NA on sunday has Na shown in past he finds ways to chuck it away but i hope AN can be good for him.Lost playoff here in 2016 AN did but shown in recent weeks been playing better on tour.
CHESSON HADLEY BRICE GARNETT 70/1
Garnett won Puntanca chapionship very easy last month while Hadley been playing well in recent month and this pair good pals to and Hadley was 8th here in 2015
DAVID LINGMERTH DANNY LEE 125/1
As a pair were 14th last year which was a solid showing by them and while Lingmerth not in good form.Lee been showing odd glimpse of return to form.In that started events well but faded. And pair go well here.
April 25, 2018 at 01:49 #1351858Well done Raymo.
Well played BigG,another week and you could have had both FRL,your getting very close most weeks, getting them in the mix with 150 odd field is no easy task, your due another hit.
Yep,tee shot 14 killed Jimmy, not the first par 5 he messed up over the 4 days.No complaints, plenty chance to trade out during that final round, but never low enough for me.
Easily my favourite player on the PGA tour, always thought he has the game for links golf over here, that texas background would suit a really windy open championship.Quietly spoken,Harmon let it slip during the masters he was on the way back,under-rated player who plays difficult courses well, will be following him closely rest of the season.
Only watched last few holes of euro, that was enough, standard looks way short of previous years, crying out for some new blood. No surprise that the likes of sharma/paisley shine amongst this lot,do wonder just how many of these are way too comfortable mid pack, sponsored to the hilt.
April 25, 2018 at 23:19 #1351972There are a fair few that need to get out of their comfort zone and get hungry Flyers I agree!!
Only four in China and a couple of picks in New Orleans for me this week. I am not keen on pairs golf!!
CHINA OPEN
B WEISBERGER 18/1
C SHINKWIN 50/1
S NORRIS 125/1
M SIEM 150/1ZURICH CLASSIC
CABRERA BELLO GARCIA 22/1
HORSCHEL PIERCY 40/1Good Luck Guys
I really fancy Wiesberger he has a great record in Asia and I hope it continues!!April 26, 2018 at 01:36 #1351974Volvo China Open
Paul Dunne 22/1 (33/1 1st round leader)
He blotted his copybook a bit at the Trophee Hassan, but if he can be forgiven a bad week
at the office after the disappointment of being beaten by Rahm the previous week at the Open
de Espana, then he has to come into the equation here. He wont come up against anyone of the
calibre of Rahm here and is definitely one of the front runners.Shubhankar Sharma 40/1 (40/1 1st round leader)
I swore to myself last week that I was giving Sharma a rest, but Flyers has a valid point in
that the strength in depth in the European Tour does look a tad tired. It does, as you say Flyers,
need some young blood to shake it up a bit. Jon Rahm is certainly doing his bit, but mostly on the
wrong side of the pond, and with a very average field this week I just can’t leave Sharma out. It
might look a bit like his bubble has burst, but I think after his cracking start to the PGA Tour at
Mexico, he struggled with the expectation, and his last 4 tournaments started, which have all been
stateside, have been disappointing with 3 missed cuts. Take out his foray to the land of the free,
and his last 7 European Tour starts have realised 2 wins and a 7th last time out in the Indian Open.
I think back in his own smaller pond, he has nobody to fear of the ilk of Nicholson, DJ, Justin Thomas,
Spieth etc etc. If this takes the pressure off, he could rip through them here.Erik Van Rooyen 50/1 (50/1 1st round leader)
He might have been one place out of the money for me in the outright betting last week in the Trophee
Hassan, but that was my fault not his. I should on reflection played safe and taken the 7 places, not
6, even if I lost a few points. Having said that, if he starts the same way this week I’ll be more
than happy. It’s his rookie year, and as I mentioned above, there’s not a lot to be crapping yourself
about in this tournament. His confidence should be high after last week, and he didn’t throw it away
in the last round, he just couldn’t find the birdies. Even so he finished 3 shots off the lead which
was no disgrace. I think he is worth following again this week.Good luck guys, I’ll get my New Orleans Classic bets on in the morning
April 26, 2018 at 12:43 #1351998Zurich Classic
Cameron Smith/Jonas Blixt 35/1 (40/1 1st round leader)
This is a bit of a no-brainer for me. Admittedly Smith can do little wrong in my
eyes, but that aside he goes into this with a T5 in the WGC Match Play last month,
and a T5 in the Masters this month. Add to that that he, along with Blixt, won this
last year and I just don’t get why they are about 20th in the betting at 35s. Whilst
I’m a big fan of Smith, I don’t think that Blixt is in any way a dead weight, he had
4 good rounds to finish T14 last time out at the Heritage, not to mention that he did
win this with Smith last year. I think they are overpriced.Chris Paisley/Tommy Fleetwood 40/1 (boosted to 50s by Ladbrokes) (40/1
1st round leader)Paisley is the type of player I’d expect to do well here, he can run up the birdies and
he has blossomed this year with a win at the South African Open and top 5s in the Dubai
Desert Classic and the Abu Dhabi Championship. He has a rock solid partner in Fleetwood,
winner of the Abu Dhabi earlier this year and T17 (with a brilliant 3rd round 66) in the
Masters. Tommy has had a couple of weeks off after the Masters, so should be raring to go
in this. Those 2 will do for me. It’s the kind of format which could provide a shock at big odds,
but I’ll wait and see how they are positioned at halfway or final round before considering
anyone else. Good luck all
April 29, 2018 at 00:12 #1352479Last round in Texas is going to be interesting with soo many pairs close!!
April 29, 2018 at 02:51 #1352487Yes it’s still wide open Raymo. Your pair Horschell and Piercy are only 3 off the lead, and in
the final round format they’ve changed it around from last year so that it’s foursomes in the
final round and not four-balls. I think the four-balls made it easier for leaders to defend a lead,
it gave that insurance in case one of them went off the rails, but the foursomes open it up
more and an off day could see you plummet down the board. Your pair have a decent shout.
Darren your best pair Garnett and Hadley are only 2 off, so very much in with a shout. It’s been a funny competition for me, I’m getting used to hitting the crossbar with my
1st round betting of late, and Paisley and Fleetwood kept the run going. I thought they
might pull it off, but at 10 under they got pipped by a couple of pairs, so T3rd e/w
at 40s saw me cover both my 1st round betting bets and make a bit of profit. I was looking
forward to see how they would do on day 2, I didn’t get to check the scores until they had
played 7 holes, and they were 5 over for their round
Two double bogies and a bogey
looked like they were dead on their feet. Nothing happened until their 12th (the 3rd) when they
get a hole in one. I was hopeful of a late resurgence but it was one step forward and then one
back with 2 birdies and 2 bogies. 3 over for their round and they looked out of it. However a
glimmer of hope emerged in the 3rd round with a cracking 9 under par. Four behind now, and maybe
a small squeak. The final round of the China Open is under way, and again we all have some sort of chance here.
Darren your Vincent and Raymo your man Norris are both 8 under and 4 back, good luck with them
guys. I’ve got Dunne who is 2 back and I think he’s still in there. Sharma is 5 back, and that’s
probably too far back unless he shoots a 62. Not impossible for him, but it’s asking a lot.Lets hope we can turn some of these into cash
April 29, 2018 at 19:14 #1352568Shame I backed Bjork a week early !!
Tonight could be interesting though!!If my pair don’t win I hope one of our others do!!
Good Luck guys
