So much has happened over the past year Darren that I had to take a bit of time
to look through the thread (my old powers of memory aint what they used to be  )
Certainly one of the highlights for me came at the start of March, and set me up
nicely for the Cheltenham Festival before I headed down there. Louis De jager
was 100/1 in the 1st round betting of the Tshwane Open, but I had some spare
cash in my Paddy Power account, so I stuck £15 e/w on him at 90/1. In the same
week in the WGC in Mexico I took Chris Paisley and Shubankar Sharma
both at 125/1 in the 1st round betting, both £10 e/w. De Jager netted me £1717 for the
win, and the other pair ££650 for being placed. I’ve never headed to the Festival so well
    armed.

I’ve got to give a mention to an absolute rising star, Bryson DeChambeau, who
I’ve been banging the drum for all season. He obliged me at 28/1 and 33/1 at the
Memorial, 35/1 at the Dell Technologies Open and 14/1 at the Shriners. He’s going
to be a number 1 at some point. Even younger than him, and bursting onto the scene
is a youngster that had done us both well Darren, Cameron Champ who
was a 100/1 place for me in the Dell Technologies, and a winner at 60/1 at the
Sanderson Farms, he also obliged me at 55/1 as the outright 1st round leader.

As a low moment, I nearly had the same one as you Darren, we both had Ryan Fox in
the Irish Open, and he looked nearly over the line when Russell Knox drove his tee
shot into the rough when 1 behind on the 72nd hole, he had practically no chance to
get down in two, but fortunately for me, when his price went out to 25/1 (I priced it
up in real time) I stuck him on for some insurance before he hit his shot out the
rough to the edge of the green, probably about 30 or 40 yards away from the hole…
..and then sank it  I couldn’t believe it. It was just as sore when he lost
the play-off hole, but at least I covered the bet so that it didn’t really matter to
me cash wise as to who won, but I so wanted Fox to win for us both Darren, that was a
    sore one mate.

Cash wise, the one which bothered me most was an in-play bet on Steve Stricker
in the 1st round betting in the Players Championship. He had eagled a hole to get
to just behind the leaders, and he had about 7 holes to go, and was about 25 or
30/1, but for some reason Paddy Power were slow off the mark to change and were
still 66s. I stuck £20 on the nose, and as the leaders faultered Stricker then
birdied the 6th, (his 15th) and with the relatively easy par 5 9th to come he
was as short as 4/9. I looked at the cash out, it was over £600 but I started
to think that he could pull it off. I hung off and was thinking about cashing
in when the betting was suspended, he bogied the par 3 8th and the cash out fell
below what I would accept, just in case he birdied the 9th. He parred the hole
and I got bugger all as he was 1 back. That was sore, and if I’m honest it was
just sheer greed that did me out of £600 for a £20 stake. It was a lesson learned

I actually surprised myself going back through the results, there wasn’t a month
that I didn’t have a return, with plenty of other big double figures wins and some
treble figure places. Pepperell, Smith, Wise, Keopka, Molinari, Walker, Noren
Lowry and Varner, not named above, were some that also came good for me.

We’ve all done well on here Darren and Raymo, and it’s been noticed, which is why
Nathan has stuck up your thread Darren as thread of the year. It’s a pleasure to be
part of it my amigos :good:

I didn’t see Ben Coley’s blog Darren, but he’s right to highlight Cameron Smith,
he’s definitely on the rise. I haven’t got as far as the US Open yet, but still plenty
of 125/1 about for him. There is 150/1 with Blacktype, I have no idea who they are.

My ante post golf bets so far…..

    US Masters

Bryson DeChambeau 90/1 1/4 5 places with Sky

Cameron Smith 100/1 1/5 6 places Paddy Power

    Webb Simpson 100/1 1/4 5 places Sky

    Top Money List

    Bryson DeChambeau 33/1 1/4 3 places Sky

    Tommy Fleetwood 40/1 1/4 3 places Sky

    Francisco Molinari 66/1 1/4 3 places Sky

I’ll post these on you new 2019 thread Darren.

One week to go this year, and a couple of last chances at the Indonesian Open and
the Alfred Dunhill links. I’ll post mine up shortly. It’s been a profitable year
all round for us, let’s hope we can go out this week with a bang :good:

    Start with Alfred dunhill links

    BRANDON STONE 25/1

There been changes to course but this guy was the last man to win here and he romped home as well. When you think last week was 50/1 in SA open this a player who won a rolex series event Scottish open close to 59 in final round. He a classy sort who can win again here.

    BRANDON GRACE 9/1

No doubt Schwartzel has big chance here won here 4times but not finish well at weekend. And feel Oosthuizein be running on empty.Grace is next best bet he also a winner here and while it true no win this year.He still got the class to finish year on a high.

    ROMAIN LANGASQUE 25/1

French players do well and no doubt in my mind this guy can break duck soon maybe even this week was 2nd behind a rampant Oosthuizein last week and every chance of bold run here to.

    SEAN CROCKER 66/1

Not say sorry about this but until he wins I be on him most weeks a course like Leopard creek suit his power he got.And no doubt in my mind he enjoy this venue and can go well.

    MAX SCHMITT 250/1

Young german player who did not do well on challenge tour but in pro golf tour as a amateur is a young talent to follow and at a price worth following him.

    Indonesian open

    HENRIK STENSON 7/2

Though be giving up course experience to Rose who bolt up last year there been signs in last 2events by him to suggest a win to end the year not far away.Play well at hero challenge and coming here is more than able to win here.

    SHUBHUNKAR SHARMA 20/1

Look like he had enough for season and could end it on a whimper but bounce back to form at hong kong open when 6th.And got course form here was 11th last year since then evolved into a better player and every chance here.

    ATTEESH SANDHU 100/1

Was 45th here last year but a pal of Sharma will improve like his pal was 3rd in recent Panasonic open while it true has got some MC by his name feel a good week in store for him.

    TRAVIS SMYTH 200/1

Last 3 events has MC so not ideal that but young aussie players are always worth following he could be one of them 10th in Aussie open in 2017 show there a bit class of him and could go ok.

That last preview of 2018 I hope get a few winners to end year in style

    B STONE 25/1 H STENSON 7/2 win double

    Alfred Dunhill Championship

Brandon Stone 20/1 (33/1 1st round leader market)

I’m with you on Stone Darren, and well done getting the 25s, I only
managed 20s yesterday. He likes this course having won there 2 years back
and is in decent form at the moment with a T7 last time out in the South
African open. His last round was a cracking 66, so I think Sky are sticking
their heads out offering 33/1 in the 1st round leader market. He’s worth a
    go in that Darren.

Thomas Aiken 28/1 (40/1 1st round leader market)

It’s been 7 years since this tournament was won by a non South African player,
so I think it makes sense to concentrate on them. Stone is already in my stable,
but I think Aiken is a decent reserve. His game is in a good place at the moment,
he was a well in the hunt when T3 last time out but Oosthuizen had flown the coup
    and was never getting caught.

I’m going to leave it at 2 picks t the moment, I nearly added Schwartzel, who I
backed last week, he loves it here, and has amassed 4 previous championships here.
My only worry is that he has gotten into the habit of hitting one average at best
round which has kept him off the winners podium. 7/1 is just too short for me,
but if his poor round happens to be his 1st, I’ll nab him at a bigger price. He
    is a big danger here.

I’ll stick a couple on in the Indonesian Masters a bit later today.

    Indonesian masters

Phachara Kongwatmai 33/1 (40/1 1st round leader market)

To be honest I can’t quite get too enthusiastic about this event. Rose and
Stenson are better than these, but both are very short in the market without
a ball having been struck. Seeing as the curtain comes down for this year I’ll
take a chance on this young Thai golfer who was impressive in trailing behind
Rose last year with a score of -21. He’s only 19 now, so there’s every chance
he will have learned from that, and he did manage a couple of top 10s in the
Omega European Open and the Czech Masters earlier this year.

Well that’s it for this year then Darren, all the best mate to you and to Raymo.
Enjoy your Christmas and New Year and I hope we can do it all again next year :good:

It has been a hell of a year for you two guys :good: :good: TOP STUFF :good: :good:

Mt highlights are not necessarily when I won the most! I loved the Open and the Masters. I did win a good few quid at the Masters I backed Rahm to be top Euro and Bubba to be top yank and Leishmann to be top ROW !!

Rahm won and the other two both placed which got me quite a bit for three e/w dubs and e/w treb!!
The Open was just a great tournament and sooo close and great to watch even though I didn’t back the winner!!

Lewis was probably my best winner on this thread although I did have quite a few good places at good prices.

    MOAN ALERT !!
I did seem to have a lot just out of the frame though!! Grrrrrrrrrr !! LOL LOL LOL I didn’t want to let you down by not having a moan!!

As I always say though onwards and upwards to 2019 and I hope we all back loads of winners :good: :good:

Stenson creep into it untill final 4holes where he drop 2shots 5 off lead but should be much closer still in with chance

Hi Darren, yes it’s a pity Stone started badly, and finished poorly, because in between he played
a cracking round. Definitely still in the hunt just 3 off the lead with 2 rounds to go, and your
man Crocker is just one shot further back.

I still think Stenson is the man to beat in the Indonesian Masters, he did finish badly, but with
2 rounds to play he can pull back the 5 shots.

Your 2 guys Cantlay and Molinari are good shouts. Cantlay is a solid player now and what I like
about him is that he has the mentality to shoot low on the final day. His recent finishes, in the
Hero World Challenge, 64, and the Shriners, 65, show that if he’s anywhere near the lead he’s a
threat. Molinari is a favourite of mine now since he completely changed his game last year and
to my mind was the most improved played anywhere. He did me a favour in the Open, and I’ve no
doubt he will be there or thereabouts in the USPGA for you. Both good calls :good:

Final round in Indonesia and Henrik Stenson is 3off leader while the current leader won this event 3years ago he did not face any top players then.So while a advantage of knowing the course in his favour.Stenson hit best round in round 3 can overtake his rival on final day.

Well no luck for us Darren on the final weekend, but I don’t think we can
grumble, I reckon we’ve given the bookies a good stuffing this year :good:
Take it easy and enjoy the break over Christmas and New Year, it wont be
long before we’re back at it again :good:

All the best to you Raymo, and Mrs Raymo. I know your Mrs has a keen interest
in the Gee Gees (she comes up with some cracking winners in the competitions )
but I’m not sure she’s a golf fan. Maybe she has a punt in the Majors
Anyway, I hope you have a cracking time over Christmas, with plenty of cream
    cakes from Santa :good:
