I can’t stand any racing that isn’t on turf full stop so I treat Southwell and Nal al Sheba with equal disdain ;-).
Okay, I’ll give you a clue – half of the races are on turf.

Thank you for pointing out the obvious, much appreciated. So are races at the Breeders Cup, I don’t care much for that either. Let me clarify further for you – turf racing only – which to me means turf meetings only.

Next highly profound comment of patronism eagerly awaited.

Fair Along is my banker can’t see that getting beat. Already run to mark good enough to win most Arkle’s without really being extended. Doesn’t look anything good enough to worry him.

    Bismarck – Kauto Star.
Do you usually go around dictating to people what they should like and shouldn’t?

The last I heard everyone had a right to their own opinions. Free country, democratic society, ring any bells.

I will never have any interest in Nad al Sheba. Sorry if that upsets you but thats my right.

Quote: from Salselon on 10:50 pm on Feb. 28, 2007[br]How can anyone pretend to prefer Southwell to Nad al Sheba???

    There is no plausible argument..
Some people do. Some people prefer Angelina Jolie to Billie Piper. Beats me why but they do.

Quote: from Lincoln Duncan on 10:19 pm on Feb. 28, 2007[br]And what is exciting about watching horses who can barely run fast enough to keep warm running for 3s 6d in some of Britain’s less salubrious corners?

There are plenty of websites through which to find out about South American/Brazilian/US form. Better that than the betting-shop fodder we get in Britain.
Agree. There does seem to exist a certain smell of xenophobia in the air …

Oh My god, I’ve heard it all now.

Come on, I’m not one to have a go at people but Xenopobia? FFS that is scraping the barrel of an argument. Is it neccessary to force yourself to love everything non English just to prove there’s no racist element to you?

Can’t believe what I’ve read here to be honest.

If you choose to dislike Godolphin, focus on their buying policy at the end of each season or something else, but to dislike the Dubai racing carnival because of Godolphin is plain silly.

Sheikh Mohammed is the ruler of both Dubai and Godolphin how is one not connected with the other?

I said it was created to swell their egos. The fact that they can’t buy a winner now is neither here nor there.

I don’t want it getting any more coverage / credit in fact I wish this "carnival" had never been created. More flipping dirt races. An event created to further swell the ego of the horrid Godolphin organisation.
If there was a Gold Cup run between these? Burrough Hill Lad would get my money and I’d be planning the spending before they even lined up.

And as for max effort – no whips may mean they will go a little slower at the end but it’ll be the same for all horses.
If all whips were banned jockeys would have to adapt. They’d cope.

I’m not saying I wouldn’t be in favour of a whip ban I’d certainly like to see it on a trial basis.
Keep horses straight, galvanise them to maximum effort. Some horses only really quicken when they get a crack.

For what its worth I thought Ruby gave the horse (Natal) two or three slaps more than was neccessary. However I’m not a jockey, he is so its not for me to tell him how to ride.

To me Natal was clear nothing was finishing hands and heels I thought woud’ve been sufficient.

I think Ruby Walsh is an outstanding jockey overall. His riding earlier in the race I thought was superb. The jockey infront hadn’t moved and he looked round to see Ruby at work on Natal. Ruby gave the horse air then pushed him right up alongside the leader (who was seemingly travelling better). I thought it was fantastic race riding it really threw down the gantlet and tested the nerve and brain of his rival and practically told him "You thought you’d got me beat? You haven’t". Top class.

Wayward Lad you come across as aggressive and patronising to anyone that doesn’t agree with you. You won’t make friends or convince anyone to take your views seriously while you continue to post in such a manor.

Suppose you’ll have a go at me now, go ahead I have skin thicker than a donkeys dongler.

Moscow Flyer. Had two really high class rivals in Azertyuiop and Well Chief but neither really could get near him. Brilliant chaser.

Quote: from Flash on 2:01 am on Feb. 25, 2007[br]Well I’ve backed Exotic Dancer and I wouldn’t swap bets with anyone else.

The horse has had a good season improving all the way through it and probably just as importantly his best two performances have been when stepped up in trip to three miles and slightly in excess of three miles. He wasn’t stopping at Cheltenham last time and jumped the last in the style of a horse with petrol in the tank. An extra furlong should suit rather than hinder him and he’s already run to a mark high enough to give him a winning chance. He won’t mind the ground whatever it is and he’ll be switched off early and when others are crying enough late on he’ll be getting stronger. I think he can run to a mark of mid to high 170’s and I think he has a hell of a chance.

Kauto Star if he stays and jumps error free he’ll win but I don’t think he will if he does jump round I think he’ll be running on almost empty up the hill.

War Of Attrition needs good ground he probably won’t get it and in any case his win last season was in a poor affair and only earned him a rating of around 172/173. He will need a better performance to win this time year.

In Compliance has had problems and won’t stay anyway, neither will The Listener or Racing Demon.

Our Vic won’t jump round clearly in a competitive race like this and probably won’t get home either.

State Of Play needs to improve but he’s a bit of a dark horse, lightly raced and he can run a good race.

One at a big price – Beef Or Salmon maybe? I know he doesn’t travel well but he ran well enough at Haydock earlier in the season and if the ground is really soft and he jumps OK he may surprise a few he’ll stay every yard and could reach a place if he can find enough early pace to stay in touch.

Gotta be Exotic Dancer for me though.
