I can’t stand any racing that isn’t on turf full stop so I treat Southwell and Nal al Sheba with equal disdain ;-).
Okay, I’ll give you a clue – half of the races are on turf.

Thank you for pointing out the obvious, much appreciated. So are races at the Breeders Cup, I don’t care much for that either. Let me clarify further for you – turf racing only – which to me means turf meetings only.
Next highly profound comment of patronism eagerly awaited.
Erm bit confused but, yep think so.
March 1, 2007 at 22:31 #42219I also prefer the turf races.
So, does that mean you refuse to watch 3 high quality turf races as they are interspersed with dirt races? Why not just enjoy the turf races and ignore the dirt ones if you are that way inclined?
At least show me some sound reason?
DJ says it’s because of betting edge which is fair enough, and hence I may have been too harsh (and apologise if necessary?) .
March 2, 2007 at 11:14 #42220I would not bet on the Dubai stuff anyway as I do not know enough about it.
Good horses or not I find it hard to care at all about those carnival races. The media can keep going ape about the next Dubai race coming up but I am afraid its all lost on me.I care more about todays hurdles and chases at Ayr than what some multi billionaires choose to do with their loose change in the desert. But hey if it keeps them happy and enthrails a few others then good luck to them.
March 2, 2007 at 11:53 #42221
The stuff about Dubai Carnival handicaps being like Group races sounds good I suppose, but on yesterdays evidence, it’s the wrong way round.
When a Group 3 is won by the 90 rated 7-y-old Boston Lodge, followed home by veterans like Vortex and Blatant, seems to me that the race isn’t up to the standard of a UK Group 3.
Not to mention the dreadful lack of depth in the Group 2 that closed the card yesterday.

March 2, 2007 at 12:25 #42222The two races you quote AP were dirt races. I think it is the turf racing in Dubai that is well up to standard.
March 2, 2007 at 14:18 #42223my sentiments exactly about low quality jump racing, plato.
