He has a very odd habit of closing his eyes when he talks…
Someone once told me that was a sign of intelligence !!!!!!

Red Rums 3 nationals are here
His third win and old Peter’s excellent commentry would still bring a tear to a glass eye.
Almost as big a tear jerker to Crisps owner
Pitman….makes me cringe at the best of times but everytime I see him smacking Crisp with his whip in his right hand intead of his left as he approched the elbow I could jump of my seat and…. smack him….possibly the worst peice of ridng in the history of racing.
The say PO’s commentry when Attivo won the Triumph was one of his best ever………..he owed the horse and you wouldn’t have guessed it he was such a pro.
Agree totally FOF
Get F****d i would think the response would be

Good Luck and Happy Birthday

Personally I have never in all the time ive been riding had the need to hit a horse on its hind quarters..regarding the slap on the shoulders with the hand were you in a race riding/competion situation ?….The whip would only need a flick of the wrist for it to contact with the shoulder , for you to use the hand not forgetting that you are going at speed and jumping fences , you would have to drop that hand and rein contact slap the shoulder hard enough to have any effect then gather rein contact and position ready for the next fence !!! if you see what i mean ….wouldnt be me thank you very much,… a quick slap on the shoulder dosent do any harm in my opinion.
I competed on my horse doing XC many years ago and i carried a whip, most times i didnt use it , but the odd times when he was loosing concentration i gave him a slap down his shoulder once to make him listen … granted some horses are lazy and may need a tap down the shoulder to wake them up , but If a jockey abuses the whip then they should be punished ie banned heavily and once the ban is up and they are then eligable to start riding again they do so for a period without the aid of the whip..They would then have to improve their general horsemanship to get the best from a horse , if they loose races before the whip is re-instated to them well tough , they will learn to respect the whip rules in future…Just my thoughts on this matter

Superb performance again from this lovely horse…., has to be one the best stayers over the last 20 years…..
Good Luck everyone

I was so thrilled to see her go so well, as you say, especially after that horrendous fall. She’s always been one of my favourites, and the only filly I don’t mind seeing beat Gasparo. What a gutsy, brave horse.
Yes agreed, She is definatley a favourite of mine now also…
