If stable form was the issue why did he get beaten 17 lengths by a stablemate?
Altior hasn’t looked himself the last two runs for me
His jumping was very scratchy at times at cheltenham and before that at ascot
I just have a funny feeling he has a slight niggle that is causing this
Not a betting race for me but will be hoping altior wins looking forward to the king George
The idea that this monster of a horse could be even better over further is something very exciting for horse racing
Old Persian is my nap of the day, did remarkably well to win last time given his troubled passage, would likely have bolted up with a clear run which will hopefully happen on Saturday
Only bet iv had so far is a small e/w trixie
Had
Drafted 11/1
Prince of arran 16/1
I can fly 12/1Contemplating having a big double on cross counter and old Persian, but not sure which way I will go on the day, a single on old persian perhaps most likely
The very low head carriage he showed in the supreme would slightly worry me if it were to continue and he went chasing
He was so slick over his hurdles they’d be mad not to train him for the champion hurdle imo
Be interesting to see how he looks if he runs again this season
One I’m looking at is drafted in the golden Shaheen
Looks like a very fast paced should be guaranteed, so hopefully they will take each other on upfront and set it up for a closer like drafted
Almond eye is dropping back in drip which may be why she’s not shorter, having run over 1m4f on two of her last 3 runs (the other 1m2f)
So may possibly not be her best distance
The way tiger roll jumped and travelled the other day was particularly ominous
He won me quite a bit of money that day so I re invested a little in him for this, as much because hes my favourite horse as anything
6/1 at the time felt a bit skinny for my liking for a horse in the national but I couldn’t live with myself if he won and I hadn’t backed him
He does look to have improved quite a bit this year so cant rule anything out but 7/2 is not a backable price for the national considering the likelihood of the horse getting badly impeded or brought down
I would say any betting proposition ended at 5/1, though don’t think iv ever backed a horse in the national at single figures before
Usual run from folsom blue
Must be the slowest horse of all time
Needs a 5 or 6 mile race
Seen a few articles where the language the media use to describe the horse fatalities is similar to the way they describe what happened in New Zealand
To me this is an absolute disgrace and shows the agenda parts of the media have
Obviously it is such a shame that the horses have died but describing it with similar words to a terrorist attack in which 50 people were murdered in cold blood doesn’t sit well at all with me
It was also nice to see Bristol de mai prove he isn’t just a haydock horse
I’m well aware he fell
he looked well beaten when he did, was being niggled along by ruby and had been for some time, while percy and monalee were pulling away from him
And saying he struggled to win that hurdles race is something I disagree with too, he cruised through the race and won easily despite it not being a large winning distance
According to the vet presenting percy was found to be lame after the race anyway, maybe that explains his poor showing, though he never got into a jumping rhythm at any point
Hopefully we see him a few more times this season so we can get a true gage of the horses ability
Because if that was the best presenting percy today the hype was well and truly unjustified
I’d have made him third fav myself, behind clan des obeaux (the form horse) and native river (the reliable reigning champ)
Wasnt a big betting race for me anyway as it looked a complete minefield, I had a few pennies on invitation only and anibale fly straight win just for a bit of interest at big prices
Such a shame for the connections to lose a second horse in a few days
Gone for folsom blue
Though it is possible hes too slow to win over 4m2f
Think he needs there to be a 6 mile race
Convinced this horse will either win this or the Irish national (I’m assuming he will be targeted there not aintree)
Hopefully they train elegant escape purely with the national in mind for 2020
Hes simply too slow to keep up at the key point in the race against top class 3 mile chasers
You say that but the horse that won the gold cup was well behind presenting percy in last years RSA
The form was there
The main issue has got to be the prep, for all the talk from the Irish that pat Kelly is some sort of miracle worker not running percy over fences at all this season put pay to any chance he had
They will use the ground as an excuse but all the other Irish horses managed to get runs in
Wouldn’t be very happy if I was the owner of the horse
Really hope they don’t go chasing with klassical dream
He was so fast over his hurdles could definitely be a force in the 2 mile hurdle division if he continues to progress
Allaho and commander of fleet the ones for next season
My two bullets are dinons and Rockpoint
What a shame that was
Gutted for all involved with him
