Back from Dubai and can report that the course at Meydan is being quite heavily watered daily, the turf track looks green and lush. We only saw racing on the dirt track but I managed to find one winner Welford in race 3, it was difficult not really knowing the horses and Jim Crowley got well boxed in on the fav that I backed Almanaara, he’ll win next time beautiful grey by Sharmadal
Highlight of the trip (apart from the racing) was going up the Burj Khalifa to the newly opened floors 152-154 (575 metres high.
Can’t wait for the World Cup, saw a few horses galloping in the morning but hard to distinguish as no binoculars but lots of greys and a stunning big black beauty head and shoulders above the rest that I’m convinced was Blue Point by his markings Hein.
Not long now….Jac
@nwalton
I believe Dream Castle will give the filly a race for her money nw, he just keeps on improving.
@CNC
Thanks for the tips on the Internet connection at Meydan racecourse
, I put all my bets on early in the morning before we arrived at the Hotel and found that I was unable to connect to Paddy Power or any bookmaker whilst connected to their Wi Fi
not sure if this was deliberate but would advise anyone heading to Meydan for the World Cup to get all their bets in order before arriving as the venue is sold out and there could be some problems getting bets on once the racing has started.Things turn out best for those who make the best of how things turn out...March 18, 2019 at 14:39 #1402662Hope you had a great time Jac, now get your head into that form book

.
At least you saw Blue Point then, but as I understand you it wasn’t near enough for taking some photos
, right?
Yes NWalton, that’s exactly the question I am asking myself too, what would DC do against the Almond?
If we are honest nobody will really be able to answer this, as this filly is just not assessable so far. Maybe she hasn’t beaten too much at home, but I think for Dream Castle we can state similarly, as at least for me Wootton and co were not a hell of rivals. It will be a real cracker, but I will stay very moderate with my stakes here

https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=7vccFypLXwoDream Castle Jabel Hatta 9/3/2019 – Meydan
Different styles of winning to be compared here with the filly Almond Eye close to the pace all the way and Dream Castle bursting through off the pace to win his race.
Things turn out best for those who make the best of how things turn out...March 21, 2019 at 16:09 #1402902Thanks Jac where would we be without you, links plenty of winners what more so we want
March 24, 2019 at 15:51 #1403720Has a leg fallen off Almond Eye or something? How she can be odds-against in this field is mind boggling. For all that he’s improved since being gelded, Dream Castle is a Group 3 horse in the great scheme of things; the Japanese filly would have to seriously underperform to get turned over here.
March 24, 2019 at 20:13 #1403755One I’m looking at is drafted in the golden Shaheen
Looks like a very fast paced should be guaranteed, so hopefully they will take each other on upfront and set it up for a closer like drafted
Almond eye is dropping back in drip which may be why she’s not shorter, having run over 1m4f on two of her last 3 runs (the other 1m2f)
So may possibly not be her best distance
March 25, 2019 at 09:36 #1404708provisional cards now up at the usual place

From now on, we can already count the hours
March 25, 2019 at 16:13 #1404744Bar non runners I think I’ve sorted my bets for Dubai World Cup Night at Meydan, so here goes….
Godolphin Mile – Dirt
MUNTAZAH 5/4
Looks head and shoulders above the rest with his trainer in top form and his Group wins on dirt at this course.Dubai Gold Cup – Turf
CROSS COUNTER 13/8
Hasn’t run since winning the Melbourne cup last November.
Likes to come from off the pace so hoping Buick will get him nicely positioned with a clear run.
Ispolini also likes to come from the back with a run so these two could be fighting out the finish but preference for Cross Counter to assert here.Al Quoz Sprint
Only one horse…
BLUE POINT 1/2
Extremely short price but good luck to Hein who holds a 3/1 ticket for this flying black beauty.
Sands of Mali EW to fill a place priced around 8/1.UAE DERBY – Dirt
DIVINE IMAGE 5/2 is extremely hard to oppose here but think that
SWIFT ROSE at a tempting 16/1 is way overpriced and hope
she will run a big race to place.Dubai Turf
Really looking forward to this race and think that….
DREAM CASTLE 7/2 who is improving with every run will race to a higher level than his Group 3 ratings and beat Almond Eye the unbeaten flying filly who won the Japan Cup so easily. I can see the filly being up with the pace for most of the race but Dream Castle flying from the back and catching her in the closing stages. She is a class act and to be feared but I’m with Dream Castle all the way.
Without Parole 16/1 – EW
Could snatch a place here making it a good night for Frankel fans
Sheema Classic
OLD PERSIAN 15/8
Taking on Racing History again who I believe is better over a shorter trip.Dubai World Cup
THUNDER SNOW 7/2
Grand Finale of the Meydan World Cup Festial and Thunder Snow should set the fireworks off early by winning this in style. He badly needed his last run and should now be on track to beat his rivals and take his 2nd Dubai World Cup…Finally….
An extremely hopeful EW Trixie on a few bigger priced at Meydan on Saturday..
Sands Of Mali 8/1
Swift Rose 16/1
Without Parole 16/1Good luck everyone
a great weekends racing ahead.

Almond Eye lost a little weight while traveling over but no more than expected. She has now settled in and eating well.
