So what?
Trip and going means more than jockey bookings to me for instance. But doesnt mean i dont want to know whos riding
I find it astonishing that anyone would not want to know what the trainer thinks of any horse. Of course they say they expect them to win races. They can hardly say otherwise, but it doesnt take a huge degree of kremlinology to read between the lines with many trainers comments
Knowing the trainer’s manner is important of course, but where else are you goiing to get any indicator at all of a 2 year olds ability?
I think blaming "english" Rangers fans for the trouble in Manchester has a stench of Liverpools despicable and pathetic blaming of Chelsea fans (never retracted by that vile club) for Heysel
I have known some celtic fans and they are fine, but have also encountered some who drive home the anti Brit (english) thing quite hard. Cant really be denied that there is an element of that
Good point Seagull and the stupidity, shortsightedness and plain ignorance of certain trainers never ceases to amaze. Their understanding of the wider economic reality of the sport would be make a 14 year old CSE student economics laugh and cry at the same time
Worth noting that, Aidan O Brien (probably more down to the opeation than the trainer himself), Stoute and Johnston give only the very bare bones too
yeats….Gosden certainly gives good summaries as anyone who follows this trainer would expect.
But hes an intelligent bloke
I sometimes wonder about how racing really survives in countries where interest seems to be minimal….
I would have thought flat racing would have a perfect home in the netherlands…….

No your not Paul!
U got it worng at sandown last week as well…
so did i

Its a non starter….
UEFA will kill at birth because then the precedent for Ajax leaving netherlands say or benfica leaving portugal would be set. And that would be chaos
Also, the EPL doesnt need them and thats that frankly
Dont need the hassle either. Been trouble with Rangers fans recently of course and its arguable that Celtic are the worlds most anglophobic club anyway.
As for how they would perform, not good initially but with gathering resources, they would compete. But wont happen….so pure conjecture
very good value indeed….cheap i would say
To the extent it is possibly subsidised
Agree with Paul
Vote should really be taken seriously and used for whats best for europe.Protest is fine in some ways but the alternatives (inc UKIP) are abit ludicrous IMO
Labour deserves to be hammered for the expenses but in reality that should be a general election issue…and will be… i thinkn they will be hammered myself
Before anyone states that the tories have been as culpable, it has largely been abused under Labours watch and worse still, the dismal attempts to suppress the inevitable disclosure was mismanagement of the highest order
Food at Happy Valley is by far the best ive had….
The way AOB’s runners can seemingly improve beyond expectations can make a fool of any of us, but at this point I havent seen anything from RVW which suggests a star in the making.
And given that he is possibly as much of a doubtful stayer as STS, will the AOB mob really ensure that it is an absolute stamina test?
Good to see you at Sandown ricky…and Paul of course!
I still am suprised they dont hold the fixture on the old bank holiday monday and tues night.
Also there are more evening fixtures around london than before. Sandown will be packed for the concert im sure…. like it or not
and the coach party lot will be more inclined towards those meets
still dont know what to make of Pipedreamer. Is it significant that his two wins have been when he has been sent on and not had to really battle?. Does he get worried out of it a little? Im not at all convinced its a stamina issue at all and as Fist says, the mile division would be perhaps too competitive anyway
Also, a couple of Gosdens ran below expectations last night, although arguably those self same expectations were very speculative anyway
Agreed Himself
Had an eye on Recharge but hes drifted alarmingly this morning
I am a little suprised they are running Delegator. Theres a good long season ahead for top mile performers, so why today on dreadful ground?
If he does win (and i like the horse and hope that he does), then he will demonstrate that adaptability that marks out the very best
But definately not a race to bet on.
May 22, 2009 at 12:55 in reply to: Black Bear Island – not good looking enough for the Derby? #229402The dominance of one stable has made it a much less appealing betting medium. I think thats the real point isnt it?
Pity you didnt meet some of Ickys mob in the eighties then Pompete….
A great shame
I dont quite agree withthe one "clear cut" penalty (have the rules changed in the last few weeks or something?) but onthesteal and Davidbrady are more or less right in different ways. Good posts.
May 21, 2009 at 17:17 in reply to: Black Bear Island – not good looking enough for the Derby? #229214I wondered if that was what you were getting at TDK. You would hope that that that wasnt the case, because it would be an awful illustration of a sport losing a sense of itself.
