The ground is going to be a hell of a lot different to what he encountered in the English Guineas. It’s been pishing rain locally for the past few days. The round course is currently soft and the straight course is heavy according to HRI.
May 19, 2009 at 00:29 #228562Delegator gets gunned down inside the final furlong, that hill at the curragh is bloody steep.
May 19, 2009 at 00:45 #228569Imperial any way i can delete my Thread as i see you have on up.
Cheers
May 19, 2009 at 00:53 #228570Wallace, just caught yours, well put, except
Mastercraftsman
is to
the Curragh, what i am to Ante-Post betting! Come on Master took the 3/1
its redemption time! Delegator will be running on empty inside the last 50yds if the ground turns soft, whilst the Master will be powering up the hill
just watch the Master inside the last 100yds at Newmarket, he was just getting going!May 19, 2009 at 00:57 #228573Ante Post….your forgot to mentioned Rayeni coming from the back slucing up for a Kinane Oxx 2000 Guineas Double.

Geez, Man Mountain and i dare suggest Mastercraftsman will hold on to your fast finishing Rayeni up that hill!
May 19, 2009 at 01:40 #228591Mastercraftsman for me.
Loves the Curragh, stayed on reasonably well at Newmarket when seemingly needing the run. He’ll prefer the softer ground at the Curragh on Saturday too.
Mastercraftsman could win this with considerable ease IMO
May 19, 2009 at 01:59 #228594Delegator should win, but at The Curragh, I woud be worried about Ballydoyle tactics.

Apologies Wallace, didn’t see your thread there. Think we actually posted at the same time. I’m sure the mods have some way of merging them. Corm?
BTW, you’re spot on with there only being one David Wallace! Can’t wait to see him let loose on the Springboks. Best ball carrier in Europe.
Going back to Saturday’s race, you’re going to really need to get every yard of the mile. Might give Malibu Bay another chance if Aidan runs him. I’d say it’ll be similar conditions on Saturday to what he encountered at Navan last back end.
May 19, 2009 at 02:04 #228598Does Richard Hannon often send horses over to Ireland? I’m just curious about Soul City.

Not too often Moe and he won at the Curragh last year with a little in hand. I just doubt he gets a mile that well.

Moe he sent him over for the Goffs Million when he just beat Gan amrhas
and collected £700,000May 19, 2009 at 02:17 #228607ah….did he say that he would get some sort of bonus if he won, so it’s just worth risking it?
May 19, 2009 at 02:17 #228608Westphalia 2pts win @ 14-1 (skybet), Mastercraftsman 1pt win @ 7-2 (Hills) for me. I think they both look to be getting things in their favour this time around and Delegator, despite being the most serious danger, is opposable at his price on these conditions. IMO Delegator wants genuine good ground and it may come up softer than he wants.

This is an intersting race if not a great race.
Rayeni has done nothing wrong and I doubt if our 2000 guineas was ever of the cards for him.
He showed an excellect turn of foot in his races last season both of which were on soft ground.
Mastercraftsman is a differnt ball game, when racing on softish ground he has scraped home on every occasion against lesser lights than these.
He is tough and if it became a slog he could come out on top. The worry is he has not only Rayeni to worry about he has Delegator to cope with as well.Delegator has run well on good to soft and showed he can handle it. Whether he can handle proper soft ground remains ro be seen. I persoanlly don’t see it as a major problem as you couldn’t descibe him as a daisy cutter by any stretch of the imagination. He’s already shown he’s in a different league to Mastercraftsman but there’s no real way of telling how good Rayeni is.
As far as AOB’s other runners are concerned who knows but I am willing to take the gamble there’s more chance of Delegator being as good on soft as there is any of AOB’s causing another upset. Personally I think he’lll love soft ground
I’ll be waiting on this one as unless the 2nd and 3rd fav are withdrawn he’ll still be 7/4 the day before the race.
Delegator for me.
